KELLY CLARKSON LEAK: ‘NEW MOON’ SOUNDTRACK CONTRIBUTION?

There have been rumors of a Madonna contribution and even a Jonas Brothers contribution to the New Moon soundtrack, and now we’ve got a new rumor for you. A new Kelly Clarkson song has just been leaked on the internet, and according to reports, it is rumored to appear on the New Moon soundtrack. The song is called “Did You” and can be heard below:

I actually don’t mind this song and I think the lyrics do fit New Moon to a certain extent. It seems a bit early for soundtrack “leaks”, so I’ll just wait until we hear any sort of confirmation before I start forming opinions about things.

I like this song, but really don’t want to see NM’s soundtrack full of Top 20 artists. I like that the Twilight soundtrack had more alternative and little known artists with a few big names. If the Jonas Bros are on this soundtrack I’ll be REALLY angry! What on earth would they have to contribute to this movie? This is not a bubble gum, rainbows and sunshine flick here… NO JONAS BROS!

i think that this is good for the first half of the book when she’s depressed but they have to have something else for her and jacob. i really hope they do not have jonas bros that would totally blow!
I am a HUGE kelly clarkson fan, but I DO NOT like this song. It seems a little tacky and poorly thrown together (and I agree with “estella”, the chorus is totally bizarre). I really hope that since the Twilight series has blown up into such a cultural phenomenon that this doesn’t mean that it’s gonna be all “mainstream, hip, trendy” crap, I also agree with “Megan Spilman”, when I hear stupid rumors (which I hope they are just that- rumors) it makes me angry to know that this beautiful and extraordinary story/world that Stephenie created is being overcome by posers. Before the movie became a huge success, none of these people rumored to be trying out for the New Moon soundtrack would have even given Twilight the time of day, and now they all want to jump on the bandwagon simply because it’s popular? I say NO THANK YOU, like I said, I love Kelly Clarkson, but this soundtrack needs to fit the film, not the popular kids in Hollywood. I agree, there needs to be Muse and DEFINITELY Paramore, music from THE HEART, music meant to enhance the true heart of the film, not music simply thrown in because the artist wants to get some popularity from the film series. Hana Pestle’s song “Need” HAS TO BE IN THE MOVIE!!!! period. She seems to have truly put her heart and soul into a song that she based SOLELY on New Moon… unlike those others fakers (cough Jonas Brothers cough). I have to admit, that there were corny aspects of the first film (they were just starting out, didn’t realize how popular it would become, so I can let it slide). And I believe that having a new director at the helm will only make it better, but please PLEASE don’t let this turn into a competition between the big wigs of hollywood to just simply jump on the “popularity bandwagon” only because they NOW realize how successful it is…. so the beauty of Twilight’s soundtrack is that it popularized certain unknowns and revamped (pardon the pun) the success of already great bands (Paramore for instance). It brought about a wider spectrum of great artists rather than bubblegum teeny bopper crap, it enhance our musical index and introduced wonderful artists (Muse, Iron and Wine) to those who may have otherwise never heard of them…. so stick to the same format, it did wonders the first time around, if it’s not broken, DON’T FIX IT!!!!!
I like it and I wouldn’t mind it being on the soundtrack, but I also want some more lesser known bands on there. After listening to the Twilight soundtrack I downloaded most of the artists’ other songs.
I’m not surprised she might be on the soundtrack. As soon as she said she was a huge twilighter, I smelled soundtrack. I love her, so I really don’t care. But, even though the lyrics fit in with more of the good-bye scene (or some kind of sad scene), I hope its not there…obviously. idk where they would put it. I agree…NO JONAS BROTHERS!! OR MADONNA!! Paramore is amazing and Rob isn’t going to be on the soundtrack

Jonas Brothers: I would rather gaudge out my ears with a screw driver than to listen to them on a CD with other better musicians. Kelly and Madonna I can tolerate. Paramore, and Muse I would buy the CD. If Jonas Bro.’s are going to be on the CD, It’ll be $15.00 that won’t be spent. Have any one thought of having Jackson Ratheborn on the CD maybe? He plays guitar good. NOOOO it always has to be Robert, Robert, Robert- ugh! I don’t have a thing against Robert, but please there are other people who can sing and play a instrument. I like this song, but i really think her song haunted fits better. i just cant wait for new moon to come out now!! i am sooo ready for it!!
I’m not so keen on the chorus but the lyrics of the verses seem to fit New Moon pretty spot on. It may be something to play over the end credits, but in my opinion, it’s no Super Massive Black Hole, Decode or Let Me Sign.
Song is ok. Don’t mind Kelly being on the soundtrack because her sonngs do have alot of feeling and are dark. I would hate to see Madonna on it. I think the Twilight soundtrack was perfect! The artist were great and not very well known. Rob should def. have a song on the soundtrack!!!

Truth be told when soundtracks are put together there is a great deal more involved than whether “it fits”. There has to be an agreement that the band/artist would want to do it. The material has to be available and the label (yes,as in record label) has an A&R rep that looks at it. Those are really the deciding factors. Scores on the other hand tend to be more tied in to what you see on screen. (how would i know? i use to work at a major label for years)
I hope this song is NOT in NM. I wasn’t a fan of the song from the beginning. I couldn’t even finish the song. It was so annoying, tacky and just another pop song out there. To me, the song just doesn’t fit the movie. I think Hana Pestle’s song NEED is a way better fit.
RIDICULOUS. all these big stars are reported to be contributing to the soundtrack ,and making it this huge deal so that they sell all these records and make money, ITS NOT EVEN ABOUT THE MUSIC ANYMORE, its all about the NAMES and the FAME. it’s not a good move. Twilight soundtrack was only good because the songs FIT, and because it was all fairly unknown people, writing because they love the books and the music. KELLY CLARKSON, sure. she’s fine, i hold nothing against her and have liked some of her songs in the past. Same with the JONAS BROTHERS and MADONNA, but C’MON. there not New Moon material. This song is not New Moon material. If the New Moon soundtrack consists of all of these big names and ridiculous songs, I can guarentee I wont waste my money on it.
I don’t think it’s a great song, but the lyrics kind of fit. The beginning bit about being left standing there would certainly fit the break-up scene. And the chorus about did you care for me, I think probably fits some of what Bella was thinking. How could Edward have ever loved her if he could leave like that. It kind of fits, but I’m not crazy about it.

i like kelly as well but i think the two major things that were holding this back for me was that it seemed like the piece that the band was playing oddly seemed a little too upbeat. they should really take that back in and re work it. the scene where edward leaves bella is alot darker than that and it just doesn’t work. bits and pieces of the lyrics were ok but i think even that needs some work as well. the way it is right now just doesn’t fit new moon.
I’m not really sure how I feel about Kelly Clarkson possible being on the soundtrack. She’s very talented and has a nice voice, but I really liked how the Twilight soundtrack had an indie vibe. I would really like for it to stay that way especially for New Moon!
I totally agree with everything that has been said. Though this song isn’t horrible and Kelly Clarkson is amazing, I don’t really know if I’d see or want this on the soundtrack. The music is good, I just don’t like the chorus and feel like it just isn’t THERE right now. Maybe I’ll change my mind later, but for now, that’s how I feel.

I am with Casey, it’s not about the music anymore it’s about fame and money and some artist want to jump on the twilight bandwagon, I like Kelly Clarkson, but not on the Twilight soundtrack, also NO Jonas Brother and NO Madonna, definitely more, Muse, Paramore, A Fine Frenzy with Almost Lover and Near to you……
This song is alright I guess. But I don’t think it should be on the soundtrack. It’s just too… pop. And ABSOLUTELY NO JONAS BROTHERS. I AM SO FREAKING SICK OF THEM!!!!! Bring back Paramore, Muse, MuteMath, Linkin Park, ROB!!!!! And I think Jackson’s band should be on it too seeing as the are getting pretty popular. I also think there should be Jack’s Mannequin, Flyleaf, perhaps Shiny Toy Guns or Versant (look them up on MySpace), Cute Is What We Aim For, 1997 (listen to their song “On The Run”), The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus…
I noticed that there is a lot of Canadian actors in New Moon. If they want to go that route for the soundtrack, some good Canadian bands/musicians are: Hedley, Marianas Trench, Lights, Faber Drive, Flatlined.
Not sure if any of you have heard the band “Innerpartysystem” but dang, they have a bunch of songs that would fit. (please no Kelly and I like her too but not this song so much for New Moon)
Check out “Obsession” this would be Jacob to Bella and it fits perfectly.
Next would be “What we will never know” (same band) and this could be either Bella or Edward. Sorry for the following really long lyrics but a lot of the songs for this band fit New Moon exactly.

I am a huge Kelly fan. In fact, her new album is on my Mp3 player and it’s been going non-stop in my car for weeks. However, this doesn’t even sound like a good Kelly song. There’s no raw emotion in that chorus. It seems very blah to me. I mean, a 2 note chorus?? Please. I don’t think this song is good enough. Do I think Kelly Clarkson could do a song that fits the movie? Certainly, because she can be edgy and alternative when she wants to be. But, not this one. I mean, even songs from her last album, My December, would be better. Haunted would be good and Hole is kind of good. Haunted is a little more edgy sounding. If they want a Kelly song…I know it’s just a rumor, but she has publicly admitted to being a fan….they should get a better one than this or use one she’s already recorded!
I really hope none of the rumors are real. I think they need to stick with what they had for the first soundtrack. Muse is an incredible band and so is Paramore. Kelly Clarkson and Jonas Brothers need to stick to the happy tween movies such as Hannah Montana and Camp Rock. It will kill the mood of New Moon if they use those artists.
I think the lyrics fit well but I don’t care for the song at all. It seems a bit off key at times. Maybe it’s just me? I agree with one of the other posters that I love the fact that the Twilight Soundtrack has artists who are not so mainstream. Some of the artists I had heard before (Muse, Collective Soul, and Paramore), but most I had not (particularly Iron and Wine and The Black Ghosts). Many of the songs are quirky and other-worldly sounding (think Eyes of Fire!). I hope that is the same sound New Moon will go for. If not, I think I’ll be disappointed.
The lyrics are perfect, and I like Kelly Clarkson. BUT I don’t think that the sound is right for the movie. The music has to be heartbreaking. I would love to hear NEED by HANA PESTLE in the movie. It is such a powerful, heartbreaking song. I could see Did You playing in Jessica’s car when they are on the way to the movies. She turns on the radio and Bella is trying to block out the song. I could see it going there, but that is about it.
i think it’s okay not really for new moon though. however if i was to pick one of her songs i would pick “Cry” off her new album. definitely need to check it out. also agree with everyone else “Need” so needs to be on the soundtrack.
I actually like Kelly Clarkson’s “HAUNTED” from My December (2007) alot better and find it more apppropriate for New Moon than this other song.
I agree with Megan Spilman’s comment. If the soundtrack is full of top 20 artists then clearly the MO is MONEY and not what the fans want. I really hope the powers that be read these posts because it seems most of the fans are in agreement about who should NOT be on the soundtrack!
Those talent-deprived nothings who call themselves the Jonas Brothers would ruin the New Moon movie for sure!!! I DO NOT WANT THEM IN THE SOUNDTRACK!! And I think most of the Twilighters would agree with me on this.
I’m sorry, but really? I don’t believe this one. It is a little early for New Moon songs to be leaking. This is supposed to be a darker movie. Kelly Clarkson will not help make that happen. Jonas Brothers will not do that either. Like everyone else, I hope this is a mistake.

Oh, god no. I don’t like this, at all. Way too upbeat for New Moon. It won’t capture the mood at ANY PART of the movie. Sure, the lyrics might fit some of the story line from Bella’s perspective… but the music… NO.

For all the people saying that this wouldn’t fit into the movie is just hypocritical. Because people didn’t think Robert would be a good candidate for Edward. Fast Forward to now and everyone is gaga over him. Also, I’m sure the soundtrack for Twilight would have been totally different if we had a say in song selection. It’s just on how and where you would use a particular song is the thing. So whatever they choose, I’m sure it will fit the film perfectly. Plus New Moon is not all dark and depressing.

very perfect for the first half if the book. That is exactly how bella thinks in the book and how depressed she is so it works well. The book is very sad to start out and even half way through I still had tears. Very Good Choice.

If you want a female singer have Adaline write a song or see if any of her recent songs would go well with the movie! Heck! There were at least 3 (or were there more?) songs that were NOT on the soundtrack unless you bought it through iTunes! That is ridiculous!! I would rather hear Carter Burwell throughout the entire movie that to hear music from Kelly, Madonna, or the Jonas (brats).

it’s a great song, amazing lyrics (that truly fit the movie, it sounds like it could either be for the aftermath of when edward leaves or when bella is running through Volterra to save Edward, or all throughout the movie), and the sound of the song isn’t cheesy
I wouldn’t mind so much Kelly Clarkson cuz she’s kinda doin the rock thing latly si that’s kinda cool. Modanna not so much can’t really see her music in one of the movies but she may suprise us she usually does but the Jonas Brothers oh come on GAG ME! That would be so insulting to the Cullen brothers because they are so much hotter then The Jonas brothers. Anyway yuck! That’s all I have to say.

It would be nice for “The Day We Fell Apart” to get noticed but the lyrics aren’t totally right. It almost goes back and forth between Edward’s and Bella’s point of view. “Haunte” is an amazing song from My December which matches Bella’s feelings perfectly for the majority of the book. “Cry” a song from her latest album is another amazing song that would contribute greatly to the soundtrack. Listen to this song and then think of the moment when Bella really breaks down. It’s tear jerking! It’s perfection!
I like Kelly Clarkon’s music, but im sorry i hate this song for New Moon. It doesnt fit at all. I hope someone listens to Hana Pestle and uses “Need” for New Moon. It’s beautiful and would be perfect.
When I hear about mainstream artists like Madonna or Jonas Bro’s doing the soundtrack, I am frankly horrified. I understand that they want something new and fresh on the film soundtrack, but I think it would be wise to stay within a general theme of what Stephanie Meyer had in mind when she wrote the story. I loved her playlists, and I thought they did a wonderful job with the Twilight soundtrack. I hope people pay attention to the success behind that soundtrack, and what the fans are saying.

Kelly Clarkson song “Did you ever love me”…. PERFECT! And those that are saying Twilight needs a dark song. HELLO this song is dark and full with emotion. Listen to it again, shut your eyes and think of the one u love the most leaving u.
BTW - although this song could be better and there are a lot of other Kelly songs that would fit with the movie that are better, this was a song that was written for My December that didn’t make the cut.
