LA TIMES: CHRIS WEITZ ON THE ‘NEW MOON’ SOUNDTRACK

Posted July 19th, 2009 By: Evie 11 Comments »

The Los Angeles Times has a longer look at the interview with Chris Weitz that we posted earlier in the week. In today’s article Chris Weitz talks more about the particulars of the soundtrack for New Moon.

It’s now July, and Weitz will face 6,000-plus screaming fans as he unveils never-before-seen footage from “New Moon” at Comic-Con International in San Diego on Thursday. At last year’s convention, months before “Twilight” was released, the delighted squeals were nearly deafening.

Driving home from a day of post-production, Weitz says he understands what’s at stake. There are 450 visual effects shots to complete, in addition to the score and the movie’s soundtrack, which he says will feature songs from Radiohead, Muse and Band of Skulls, among others. But the sequences he’s readying for the event — one, an action scene that will feature some of those effects, the other, a love scene sure to elicit hysteria from the crowd — will be done in time.

You can read the entire article, here.

I’m so excited to hear Muse might be on the soundtrack. I know nothing is ever confirmed unless we actually hear it from Summit, but this does sound positive. I was just thinking today how sad it would be if Muse was left off the soundtrack.

What do you think of this soundtrack news? Are you happy about the bands mentioned so far?

Im so Jealous of those 6000 people who will get to be at comic con. I’m curious to know I mean Despirate!!! to know when we (the ones not assisting) will be able to see the never before seen scenes. I’m dying to see them too!!!

I can’t wait to hear some confirmation on the soundtrack. But what I really hope is that those two scenes make it online very very soon so we can all see them, and not just those lucky enough to go to Comic-Con!

I am not drastically moved or inspired by the listing of artists. I think they truly need that one Pop hit single. They had that with Paramore’s “Decode”. It should be interesting to see how it plays itself out.

I heard that me FAVORITE band of all time (Linkin Park) is going to be on the album, and I heard it’s thier song “Papercut” wich, (in my opoion)is a really good song!

Ooh, I just can’t wait to the movie and soundtrack! :D

The soundtrack for Weitz’s “About a Boy” is one of my all time favorites. It perfectly captured the mood of the characters and the movie.
I have no doubt that he will do just as good of a job with the music for New Moon.

I really think that “wake me up when september ends” by Green Day would be a great song to put on the new moon soudtrack. The song would go with the scene where Edward leaves Bella in the forest or when the months pass.

I hope the soundtrack does justice to the movie… I know there could be a thousand songs that will work. I want the song More Than Words or Hole In My Heart by Extreme for the Italy scene when they get back together and Leave Me Alone by Extreme when Bella doesn’t want anything or anyone around her when Edward first leaves her. Check out the songs to make an opinion.

if they put papercut on the soundtrack i will buy a sopy for every actor in the movie LINKIN PARK RULES AND PAPERCUT IS THE MOST PERFET SONG! *lol i got jackson to sign my papercut single at the twi tour in feburary and ashley in may she loves them!*

Radiohead is one of my favorite bands! Thome Yorks a fricken genius. His solo stuff is amazing. I agree, Linkin Park would be great again. My fingers, toes and every available apendage is crossed for Kings of Leon! I’m just psyched to learn that Chris is keeping it within the rock genre. I was worried about it becoming to comercialized and saturated with Kelly Clarkson and Justin Guarini…shudders!
