MICHAEL WELCH INTERVIEW ON ‘NEW MOON’ AND ‘ECLIPSE’
Larry Richman has a nice long interview with Michael Welch where they discuss Michael’s experience on New Moon, what it was like to work with Chris Weitz, and when they will be getting back into character for Eclipse. The first half of the interview is solely Twilight related, but they move into other topics around 5:40.

I love what Michael has to say about New Moon. He makes it sound like New Moon is going to be a lot more polished than Twilight was. Again we are hearing nothing but wonderful things about director Chris Weitz. Michael also seems to grasp exactly who the character of Mike Newton is, I look forward to seeing him in New Moon. And an August start date for filming Eclipse!

I am so glad New Moon isn’t going to be indy like Twilight was.
I just saw Michael Welch in a tiny role on CSI. I was so excited! LOL
I wasn’t sure if my other one went through. I was just saying that I think he did a great job in twilight and I look forward to seeing more of him in New Moon. I wished they would have put more of him in Twilight the movie, since he did play a much bigger part in the book, they played him up a lot more and they played up how much he liked Bella a lot more in the book and I kind of wished they would have potrayed that in the movie. Either way, I love the series, love the people they picked, and I loved the movie. I am super excited for New Moon as well as the other movies. Happy Wednesday, it’s Hump Day!
Did anyone else notice that around the 3:40 mark Michael talks about “our next 2 directors”? I know we’ve all read rumors about BD being made into a film, but it’s exciting to hear one of the actors mention it so mater of factly.
Mike sounds like a great guy and I know he really nailed the role of Mike Newton in Twilight, I hope his other projects do as well.
OMG This was such an interesting interview at least the “twilight” part of it. And YES I noticed when he said about the “Other 2 Directors” which really makes you think ok there are 2 more movies coming out. We know about Eclipse of course but this makes you think ok BD is almost confirmed. I can’t wait till all of the movies are out!! and I think Micheal will be great in new moon especially in the Movie theature scene! ***I LOVE TWILIGHT SAGA***
The first thing I notices was the fact that he mentioned “the next two directors” It’s nice to hear be optimistic. The fact that they are going darker for the third one is going to be interesting.
I thought Eclipse was supposed to come out June 30th of nwxt year!!??
I feel sorry for Catherine Hardwicke whenever one of the actors comment that New Moon is better in some way than Twilight, or more polished, or the director more zen and organized, etc. Comparing just seems wrong and disrespectful to their former director.
Great interview. I was a Joan of Arcadia fan too and it’s nice to hear Mike is getting lots of work and some good reviews. While I
wasn’t too crazy about Mike in the books, I liked movie Mike better. One of my fave scenes is Mike asking Bella out to the prom and she’s not listening to a word he’s saying-she’s staring at Edward, of course.
Such a cute scene and I did feel a little sorry for Mike - he never had a snowball’s chance in H—! Ha Ha
