MITCH HANSEN BAND NEW MOON SONG ESSAY CONTEST - WINNERS

MITCH HANSEN BAND NEW MOON SONG ESSAY CONTEST - WINNERS

Our Mitch Hansen Band ‘New Moon’ song essay contest is over, and we after reading all of your amazing submissions, we finally have the winners for you! It is clear that all of you are very passionate about The Mitch Hansen Band and New Moon, and each and every submission was a joy to read. Of course though, we could only choose three winners and you can read each of the winning submissions below:

First Place: Chelsea

New Moon is a novel that draws the reader into a world where excruciating pain and timid happiness live side by side. We are offered only a brief glimpse into the world that Edward Cullen lived in after he made the agonizing choice to leave the woman that he loved behind. Because the books are written from Bella’s point of view, we are only able to ascertain what his without-Bella life was like through his words to her. In my opinion, “A World Without You” brings life and understanding to the period of time that Edward was gone. It truly allows the listener to be a party to the thoughts of Edward’s mind, to feel what was in his “heart”, to get a glimpse into his “soul.” It’s addition to the New Moon Soundtrack would make this time that we don’t get a chance to see so much clearer. For this reason, I feel that it would be not only a wonderful, but a vital addition to the soundtrack, which is the music that allows the story to truly be a work of art.

Second Place: Tonya

My favorite song for New Moon by the Mitch Hansen Band is “By You”. It captures the desperation of both the passion and the pain Bella feels at being abandoned by her first love.

Bella had never been a risk taker until she met Edward, and she took the biggest risk of all by allowing him into her heart. Then he broke it, and the only way she feels alive is by standing on the edge and daring risk to fill the empty hole left inside her. The only one can do that is Edward.

She’s been waiting on him to rescue her, but she ends up rescuing them both.

Third Place: Hannah

Wow. To chose one out of so many brilliant songs as my favorite has had me thinking and debating for nearly an two hours. But, after a long, hard decision, I have finally made up my mind. My favorite Mitch Hansen Band song is “Lullaby.” To me, this song is so very ideal for Edward and Bella’s reunion scene. When I close my eyes while listening to this song, I can perfectly imagine Edward reaching over to hold Bella’s hand on the plane ride home from Italy. Then Bella would look up to his face to see his closed eyes and crooked smile, then smile and close her own eyes to dream and remember the happier and more pleasant memories she shared with Edward. Every so often, I will listen to this song on repeat while I fall asleep. The soft, relaxing guitar casts a spell over me every time I hear it. It would be a shame if “Lullaby” wasn’t in New Moon because so many people might be able to experience the beauty and magic of the song.

Thank you to everyone who participated! Don’t forget to check out the Mitch Hansen Band! You can listen to their music and even buy their CDs here.
