PETER FACINELLI – FATED TO BE A VAMPIRE?
MovieBlog has just posted a really cool article about Peter Facinelli (who plays Carlisle in Twilight) and how he “bought his way into Twilight for $29.90″. Peter wasn’t initially cast to play Carlisle, but ended up getting the part after a lucky break.
Here is what MovieBlog has to say:
Actor Peter Facinelli can thanks his lucky stars he bought a book on 50 years of vampire movies and mailed it to Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke. He sent her the book after he’d auditioned unsuccessfully for the role of Carlisle, the doctor patriach of the Cullen family of vampires, with a note saying, “Hey, maybe this can inspire you while doing the movie.”
It turned out the actor whom Catherine had cast originally, who was 10 years older than Facinelli, went to work on another movie, and the director offered him the role.
“As I’ve told Catherine, I bought my way into Twilight for $29.90,” said Facinelli, 34, who had worked mostly in TV (most recently in the series Damages) and in a few movies including The Scorpion King and Riding in Cars With Boys.

I’m really glad Peter ended up getting the part, I think he is a really good choice. Did you have anyone else in mind to play Carlisle, or are you happy Peter got cast also?
