MTV: NOMINATE ‘TWILIGHT’ FOR MTV MOVIE AWARDS!

The MTV Movie Awards are coming on May 31st at 9pm EST, and MTV is doing things a bit differently this time around. They want YOUR help choosing the winners! Read below for more details:

 
We’re opening up nominee voting from April 13-20. You’ll choose your favorites from a huge pool of the year’s biggest stars, deciding who goes on to the next round. Then, from May 4-18, you’ll vote to decide which of those nominees goes home with MTV’s famous Golden Popcorn! Do you understand what that means? Not only do you pick the winners of the 2009 MTV Movie Awards, but, for the first time ever, you also pick the nominees!

The Twilight movie and actors are nominated in several categories, so until April 20th, you can vote for them in the following areas:

• Best Movie: Twilight
• Best Female Performance: Kristen Stewart
• Best Male Performance: Robert Pattinson
• Breakthrough Performance Female: Kristen Stewart
• Breakthrough Performance Male: Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner
• Best Villain: Cam Gigandet
• Best Kiss: Robert Pattinson & Kristen Stewart
• Best Fight: Robert Pattinson vs. Cam Gigandet

I think this new method of voting is great! I’m sure Twilight and it’s cast will do really well at the awards, but they’re up against some pretty great nominees, so get in there and vote!

    Twilight? Against Oscar-Winning Movies? I think not. But we’ll see how it competes against the others. I’m a Twilight-fan, but there’s no way I’m voting for Cam Gigandet for “Best Villian” or “Best Movie”.

    I went on and voted for anything Twilight, But they are up against some tuff things, What with movies like The dark knight, Benjamin button, and then funny movies like nick and Norahs, I’m worried for my Twilighters, But I have no doubt that our twilight cast will make it into the best break out performance!. They are all a huge deal now!. and i love that twilight was there for almost all categoryies, but 2!! :D

    I had to give them some nominations! I selected the Twilight for ‘Best Kiss’ (they HAVE to win that one) and Rob for Breakthrough Performance! I think they should at least be nom’ed in quite a few of the categories. Best film? Naaaah…, it’s not a book award.

    As much as I like Twilight, there is no way that it stacks up to some of the films listed. I might give them the best kiss award but other than that, not a chance. I could vote for Twilight just to do it, but I would rather vote for films that truly deserve it.

    I agree with Katie. No way am I voting for Cam when he’s up against Heath Ledger. I, too, am a fan but there isn’t much of a comparison here.

    Definitely should win best kiss, if nothing else, and this is not the Oscars. =) Its for a different crowd, with different tastes, so don’t expect Oscar nominees to be the only winners.

    Although, the Twilight story is fantastic, the movie…not so much (but its fun to watch). I say add categories so we can write in votes for “Dr. Cullen”…and Stephenie Meyer.

    I think you guys are taking it way to seriously here. It’s the MTV Awards, not the Oscars. Such awards is where fans show their loyalty to whom they like after all. :)

    I signed up and voted! Thanks for telling us about it. This was only to pick the nominees, so some loyalty would have been nice here. Then, once the top 5 are selected, then you could vote for whoever you wanted. The MTV Movie awards are for FUN-not the frak– Oscars!

    i think taylor lautner shud get breakthru male performance. he was an unknown actor b4 twilite and rob already got best male performance. and he did a good job 2!!!

    MTV tends to be based more on popularity than Oscar caliber talent. The fan poplr vote may carry more weight with the volume of twlght fans…we shall see. G. Lck!

    I DON’T GIVE A DAMN I VOTED EVERYTHING TWILIGHT ! Yea there were better movies but for me I voted for what I loved most and well that was everything Twilight but I do think Dark Knight should win Best Villian and movie BUT I WANT TWILIGHT NOMINATED IN EVERYTHING AND the cast deserves some kind of recognition ! PEOPLE’S IT’S THE MTV AWARDS IT’S NOT THE ACADEMY SO STOP your crying !

    I agree with Katie-this is no Oscar movie. But we’re talking about MTV awards, you know the “music” television netowrk deciding the greatness of films. C’mon, it’s all pop-culture junk and I think Twilight should sweep for that reason. Twilight is my proud guilty pleasure and I support it because if Edward get’s to have his own personal brand of heroine then so can I.

    I would so vote for the movie and nominate it but I don’t like that it requires you to sign up. I have enough user names and passwords to remember. Not gonna add more. I’ll just sit and watch the show and hope they win some.

    Voted for everything Twilight except best villan – Heath Ledger should win that! And I voted for Rob in Breakthrough Preformance! We’ll see in New Moon if Taylor cant get that award!

    Twilight as a book was amazing. I love Twilight and every but don’t get me wrong, but the movie made it a cheesy love story. If it was the MTV book awards, Twilight would own, but it’s not. Twilight has enough recognition as it is. As an example, The Dark Knight did not receive any recognition-awards wise. It totally got ignored during the oscars (Except for Heath Ledger amazing win). It took time making that movie. Twilight took what? A couple months to film then a couple months to edit and finish up? Please. Let’s wait for a bigger and better New Moon. Let’s hope the more thought out movies will be recognized.

    CAM GIGANDET AND THE JASON VORHEES GUY FROM FRIDAY THE 13TH WAS THE BEST VILLIAN OUT OF EVERYTHING LISTED HATE ME AND YELL AT ME IF YOU WANT BUT WE ALL KNOW THE REAL REASON HEATH LEDGER IS THERE, I NOT GOING TO SAY IT.

    TWILIGHT DESERVES TO WIN ALL BECAUSE SOME OF THE ACTORS ARE ON THEIR WAY AND SOME DID A GREAT JOB IN TWILIGHT AND DESERVE TO WIN SO YEA I KNOW HEATH LEDGER WILL WIN BEST VILLIAN.
