MTV MOVIES BLOG: ‘NEW MOON’ TRAILER RECEIVES 10.6 MILLION VIEWS IN FIRST WEEK

Last week we told you that the trailer for The Twilight Saga: New Moon reached 5.8 million views in the first 24 hours of its release, and now we’re back with some updated statistics. According to the MTV Movies Blog, the first New Moon trailer nearly doubled the initial statistic for a total of 10.6 million views within the first week.

 
In just a single week, Summit Entertainment’s “New Moon” trailer reached 10.6 million video streams across launch partners MTV and MySpace.

The social networking site broke some big records, with 4.2 million online views in the first 24 hours, contributing to a total of 7.8 million streams in the first seven days. MTV didn’t exactly fare poorly, with 5.3 million viewers tuned in for the 2009 MTV Movie Awards broadcast premiere and another 2.8 million streams in the following week.

I’m not surprised at all by these statistics – congrats to the cast, crew, and Summit! The only thing I’m somewhat surprised about is just how many views Myspace brought in – and 5.8 million viewers for the movie awards premiere? Wow!

    This doesn’t suprise me. Twilight is much bigger than “just a movie”.

    I too want to extend a heartfelt “Congratulations” to Summit, Cast & Crew for this huge success.

    Somebody at Summit is clinking glasses with whoever decided to take a chance on this little endeavor. Many lives have been changed inside the entertainment industry and definitely outside. “Bravo!”

    Not surprised at all that has anything to do with mind boggling Twilight related numbers, news, etc! That’s how much we love and support it all!

    Well…. with that many views….this movie had better be good…otherwise we are going to have a LOT of disappointed people.

    i think only twlilgiht can break new records it’s a complete new phenomenom…but as for me i didn’t see the trailer form mtv or my space
    i’m latin and a lot of latin fans i think have seen it on you tube…i’m surprise that is not include cause one of the first videos has like a million views until the last week and about 3000 comments i don’t know how is it now but they should count YOU TUBE

    They should make the movie come out on the 16, not the 20, because there’s a new moon on the SIXTEENTH!!! A real, live, new moon!!! Like, up in the sky!!! SOMEBODY TELL THAT TO SUMMIT!!! And I was part of that 2, thank you very much!!! HOPE ITS BETTER THAN THE LAST 1!!!! (not that it was bad, its just the movie is nothing compared to the book.)
