MTV Movies Blog is reporting that President elect Obama is a Twilight fan, as is his daughter Malia.

President-Elect Barack Obama truly has a full plate. Revitilize a sinking economy. Energize a nation. Rehabilitate America’s fragile standing in the world. Oh, and get through four “Twilight” books with his youngest daughter.

Yes, according to the latest issue of US Weekly, Stephenie Meyer has a couple fans who will be moving into 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue in a couple months. The magazine reports that the President-Elect and his ten-year-old daughter Malia often bond over addictive book series, “They read all the Harry Potter books together and have moved on to the Twilight series.”

Hayley Williams from Paramore is also an avid Twilight fan. She posted a LJ about the book before she knew that Paramore was going to write a song for Twilight. She also posted up a picture of the book on their website quite a few months ago.

first off that picture was photoshopped , 2nd what does twilight have to do with him being president??? thats a stupid reason to like someone. and 3rd doesnt matter hes not gonna be able to fix the economony. thats fine that hes a good person with his daughters but why does he have to mix his personal aka getting a dog and reading twilight with politics. hes not there for that reason hes there to run the country and hes gonna do a poor job at it too. god help us all

Personally I find this finnier than hell. Obama, a Twilight fan? I understand reading Harry Potter to his kid, but if I WERE his kid i would feel awkward reading some of the parts, y’know what I mena? espically in breaking Dawn…

To tell you the truth, the only people who are celebrities I care to hear about like the series are the actors/actresses in the movies. I HATE that politics are now being brought into this. Isn’t the Team Jacob, Team Edward stuff enough. We read these books to ESCAPE this stuff. I just want the new president to focus on our country not our entertainment.

God. You know what will be hilarious. When he gets to Breaking Dawn and has to read THAT with his daughter. Geez…if he can do that without a problem, he will be able to do many things. 10 years old is a tad too young to be reading the Twilight series. (Especially to be reading Eclipse and Breaking Dawn!) Wait at least until she’s a few years older. Plus, as a 10 year old, I don’t really think you can understand the book as well. I’m not saying that 10 year olds are dumb or anything, just that you appreciate it more when you’re older.

You should be reading Judy Moody with your 10 year-old not Twilight or Harry Potter. Unless that girl has a High School reading level and is mature enough to understand the complexity of the books, Twilight is not appropriate for her. I agree with Meg, Brianna and Dre, this is just another example of how politics are taking over everything good in life, first Harry Potter, then baggy jeans, now Twilight? Whats next? Yo Gabba Gabba? The politiations should stick to the issues, not who read what teen book series. But at the sametime I’m glad that this great book is touching so many lives, especialy importian people like our next president. I think McCain should have won, I’m a republican. I don’t hate Obama I just feel that the GOP could have done better.

Just because he mentioned reading Twilight doesn’t mean he is bringing his personal life into his job. He will always be first and for-most a dad no matter what. I think it is great that he is reading with his daughter but it doesn’t mean it is going to take away from what he is doing in the country.

I agree with Lilia. I’m all for obama and everything, but if they weren’t “famous” it would be weirder than… well there really isn’t anything to compare that level of wierdness to. Even with the whole “famous” thing, i’m pretty creeped out. Although i’m glad that we have a (soon to be) president that can enjoy a good book with his daughter.

just because he is the pres doesnt mean this will affect his job and the thing about him being old is insulting to many people it is found over 40% of twilight readers are over 40. and 50% are from the ages 9 to 25 so dont say she is too young and a lot of kids know more about “love making” at the age of eight than we did when we were 14 so shut up about the ages that is not an excuse. you can enjoy any book you read despite your age plus if she doesnt understand it than thats her problem not yours shouldnt you be able to read what you like without having to be discriminated because your age. Obama is a great president and he is a good father too. your bitchy comments about age show your not a true twilght fan only real fans can understand what twilight means too them if age is a factor than more than half of you wouldnt qualify because if it takes you to be “too young” or “too old” to like twilight for the book it is then i want to be ten or however old obama is . i like it for what it is you dont have to understand it or be the characters age too enjoy you can like it for the good book it is. i ame 12 and if my dad had read that book to me when i was ten then i would have loved just the same as i do now. you dont have to be brave to read that just understanding. my ability to read college level books when i was eight doesnt change that if its a good book its a good book your age, how famous you are, how oyu look doesnt change thatsome people say you have to be emo to like it and i beg to differ my fav color is yellow i were pink, baby blue white and many other colorful colors and ny personnality is also colorful i hate dressing ain all black but im a true twilight fan all the same.
