MTV: PARAMORE CAMPAIGN FOR ‘TWILIGHT’ TO WIN BEST KISS AT MTV MOVIE AWARDS
MTV has an interview with Paramore where Hayley Williams talks about the intensity of the Twilight kiss and why it should win at the MTV Movie Awards.
We’ve already broken news about the release date of their new album and critiqued their basketball skills. And now that Paramore are officially MTV Movie Award nominees โ their “Twilight” song “Decode” is up for Best Song From a Movie โ we decided it was time to get their take on the big show too.It’s no secret that the band โ or, more specifically, frontwoman Hayley Williams โ is an avowed “Twilight” nut. Since “Twilight” landed a whopping seven Movie Award noms, we figured it would be interesting to have them handicap the film’s chances in one of those categories: Best Kiss.
It’s a tight field, to be sure. Bella and Edward’s lip-lock faces stiff competition from the likes of Angelina Jolie and James McAvoy, Freida Pinto and Dev Patel and, uh, Paul Rudd and Thomas Lennon. Since the winner will be determined by you, Williams decided to get on the stump and state her case for why the star-crossed “Twilight” smooch deserves to win the Golden Popcorn.
“There’s something really captivating about real tension between characters, or between people in general, that is exciting and more moving than pure, simple love,” Williams said. “It’s really interesting to watch people that aren’t really supposed to feel for each other make it happen, and I think it’s pretty special.
“Like, even outside of ‘Twilight,’ there’s probably a million other stories that are very popular that have everything to do with forbidden love,” she continued. “And that’s the essence of ‘Twilight.’ And that’s why I think it’s so popular. There’s a little twist there โ he lives forever โ but that kiss rules.”
So there you go: A vote for Bella and Edward is a vote for forbidden love. But will Williams’ campaigning be enough to sway voters? Tune in on Sunday, May 31, at 9 p.m. ET when the 2009 MTV Movie Awards will be broadcast live from the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California.

I couldn’t agree more with Hayley. I think she’s right on about the whole forbidden part of the kiss being part of what makes it so hot. Rob and Kristen definitely deserve to win for Twilight.

It’s very cool of Hayley to promote Twilight in any way-she is a true fan. I hope Decode wins and YES I am voting for Edward and Bella’s kiss to win. I am voting for Twilight in every category they are nominated in. Hope they win them all! And yes, RP and KS will show up-they will be tired-filming won’t be done in Italy until May 29, but they will be there because Summit will make them go-Ha Ha!
I totally agree with haley.. That Kiss was awesome!! Geez talk about the tension between the Two of them.. WOW!! That part really showed the intensity of thier relationship!! I do hope that Decode gets it also.. I too think it is great that Haley is such a huge fan!!

I love how Hayley is a true fan of the saga. I had never heard of Parmore before Twilgit, but now I’m a HUGE fan. I love both their songs on the soundtrack & have bought one of their cds. I REALLY hope they contribute at least 1 song to NM.

I agree. The kissing scene was amazing. That was probably one of the few AMAZING scenes in the movie. Don’t get me wrong. I love the movie but there were only a handful of scenes where they were on top of everything…Kissing scene being one of them.
The Kissing scene in Twilight,MADE THE WHOLE MOVIE! Both of them. The other one was at the end of the prom.OMG,that was the most sensuous and enticing scene ever! IT BETTER WIN! I voted so many times.
