MTV: TAYLOR LAUTNER SAYS ROB PATTINSON DOESN’T NEED WORKOUT ADVICE
MTV caught up with Taylor Lautner at the MTV Video Music Awards where Taylor discussed the new New Moon trailer, abs on himself and Rob Pattinson and the work so far on Eclipse:
The extended trailer for “New Moon” made its big debut, and Taylor Lautner, Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson were on hand to premiere it.Before Lautner headed into the show though, he stopped to speak to MTV News about the trailer, which features him shirtless much of the time.
“I think they might start crying,” he guessed about what he thought might be the fans’ reaction to seeing him as werewolf Jacob Black running around with his wolf pack.
But Lautner isn’t the only one Twilighters got an eyeful of in the trailer — Robert Pattinson also appears sans shirt. And Lautner insists that if the two were to compete in some kind of shirt-off, the competition would be stiff. “I don’t know [who would win]. Rob, he’s getting some muscle,” he explained. “There’s some good competition.”
Lautner famously had to pack on the muscle to reprise his role as Jacob. So we wondered if Pattinson has been seeking advice from him on how to bulk up. “No, he definitely doesn’t need any pointers at all,” Lautner joked. “He’s got it covered.”
In addition to talking about all things “New Moon” trailer, Lautner opened up about what it’s been like on-set for the movie’s sequel, “Eclipse.” “Yes it’s a lot of fun,” he said. “I think we’re, like, a month in, so it’s exciting to be back with our new director David Slade and back with the whole team again.”
Slade is the third director to helm a “Twilight” flick, and Lautner admits that he’s got a whole new dark take on the saga. “It’s been good. He’s a lot different, but I think he’s going to add a cool taste to the movie,” he explained. “It might be a little darker.”
And Lautner thinks Slade will take the action in this flick, which involves a lot of battling, to the next step. “I feel like the action level is stepping up each and every film. ‘New Moon’ definitely has a lot more [action] than ‘Twilight,’ and I feel like Eclipse is bumping it up another level,” the actor said.
Sure, Lautner is cool with the films going in that direction. But he’s not so cool with the fact that he doesn’t get to partake in that action as much as he would like in “Eclipse.” “We’re at war the whole time or most of the time. I think it’s going to be pretty good but it’s a bummer ’cause I’m a wolf the whole time, so it’s not actually me getting to do my action. … But you’ll be able to see the cute fuzzy wolf.”
And what does he think of that wolf? Well, that jury of one is still out. “I’m not sure yet! I think I’ve got to watch it a couple more times,” he joked.

WOW! It’s apparent that Rob has been working out for New Moon. He’s really not into exercising, but you got to do, what you got to do. There would be some stuff competition between Rob & Taylor if there were to see who was more muscular. Guess Rob has been lifting weights according to their personal trainer. It’s the wolves vs vampires, woah!
Can you imagine Eclipse being darker than New Moon? Different directors, different techniques! No official announcement of Breaking Dawn yet…now that movie will be a challenge!
HHMM I wonder what he means by “the jury is still out, I’m not sure yet”. Does he not like how his wolf looks??
We haven’t seen it since the previous trailer. Paul and Sam’s wolves look good I thought.

YYYEEESSS, Rob is working out and doesn’t need pointers, it was nice of Taylor to compliment Rob.
I’m sure working out was for New Moon and Eclipse, but he does have that other movie he’s going to be in. The one with Hugh Jackman, he plays a boy captured by the indians, maybe there is some leather/buckskin wardrobe thing going on that he’ll need to be all buffed up for, and of course for the HONEYMOON scenes in Breaking Dawn.MMMMMMM, AAAAAHHHH
Eclipse being darker than New Moon. I don’t know if I like that.. it’s not supposed to be REALLY dark. It’s about Bella and Edward more than anything else.. I really hope Chris Weitz does Breaking Dawn. It will be a challenge but who knows what might happen? Maybe him and his brother will team up and make it happen. I can’t wait.
OMG!!!!!!! i can’t wait!!! i am so excited that i can’t type properly!!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!! i personally LUV the wolves!!!! i hope that they use the same effects on them as in New Moon! and HALLELUYA!!!! Rob is going to look even more gorgeous!!!!!! it was nice of Taylor to finally compliment Rob. and that kind of compliment coming from someone like taylor is giving me SERIOUS hope! and i don’t know if that’s a good thing or not… oh well!!!
I really like how Chris Weitz has done things for New Moon, and I’m not so sure about having yet ANOTHER director. I wish he could do Eclipse cause I’m not liking the whole “darker” thing David Slade is talking about cause ugh I hated 30 days of night which he produced so im iffy on this one but I guess I will have to see.
And yea they need to fix Taylor’s wolf a little, I really liked Paul and Sam’s wolves though! they looked great! I think New Moon is going to be absolutely AMAZING! So fingers crossed for Eclipse!!
Eclipse is darker then New Moon, Lillian, just on a different scale. New Moons emotionally dark. Eclipse has some real life threatning plots. Bella has a potential treaty war between the Cullens and Quileutes, the newborn army in Seatlle AND the Volturi are hovering near by. How is that not dark? Yes it’s about Bella and Edward coming to the conclusion that to be together means she will have to die and become a vampire too. Thats constitutes darkness and anxiety, Lillian. Not to mention Jaspers cool flashbacks and battle scenes and Roses grissely gang rape story.
It shall be the darkest of them all!
