Sia’s ‘My Love’ Featured on ‘Dancing With the Stars’

Posted May 11th, 2011 By: Evie No Comments »

If the name “Sia” seems familiar to you it might just be from listening to the soundtrack from The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. Then again, it could also be because lately Sia seems to be everywhere. Last night saw Sia as a guest mentor on ‘The Voice’ and just this week Sia’s song from the Eclipse soundtrack, ‘My Love’, was featured on ‘Dancing With the Stars’. Dancers Chelsea Kane and Mark Ballas danced their waltz to Sia’s beautiful ballad. Enjoy the video below:

(Thanks Boo!)

This is such a beautiful song, it was perfect for Chelsea and Mark to do a waltz to. I was excited to see that a song from the Eclipse soundtrack was featured on the show!

Did you see this episode of ‘Dancing with the Stars’? What do you think of ‘My Love’ being used for Chelsea and Mark’s waltz?

New Moon Soundtrack artists, Death Cab for Cutie, recently taped a special ‘Storytellers’ episode for VH1. The band taped the special in front of a very intimate 150 person audience, where they went in-depth talking about the inspirations and origins of many of their songs. You can watch the Death Cab ‘Storytellers’ episode on VH1 on May 27th at 11pm EST, just days before their new album, Codes and Keys, debuts. Read more below:

Death Cab for Cutie took to the stage as part of VH1′s Storytellers series and opened up about their songs in a way that is unprecedented for the band. During their performance, frontman Ben Gibbard said it was unusual yet cathartic for the band to talk about their songs’ origins.

“This is the first time I’ve played a show or felt a time appropriate to tell our stories,” Gibbard says on the show. “This feels a little bit like being on Oprah. I just haven’t talked about a lot this stuff and it’s bringing up some old sh*t.”

Muse to Headline Lollapalooza and Kanrocksas Music Festivals

Posted April 26th, 2011 By: Evie No Comments »

Exciting news for all the Muse fans out there! Muse are set to headline both Lollapalooza and the brand new music festival Kanrocksas this August. The only catch might be that they’re on the same weekend. Muse will be headlining Saturday night at Kanrocksas and their Lollapalooza time has yet to be announced. Also at Lollapalooza will be Cee Lo Green and Lykke Li, while The Black Keys are also headlining Kanrocksas. Check out more from Hitfix below:

Eminem and Muse will be pulling double-duty during the first weekend of August.

The rapper and British rock act are on slate to headline the very first Kanrocksas Music Festival, to be held at the Kansas Speedway over the weekend of Aug. 5 and 6. For those keeping at track at home, that’s the same weekend as Chicago’s yearly Lollapalooza bash, which also laid claim to the two acts just last night.

In one of only a handful of dates announced this year, Eminem will headline Lollapalooza 2011. Also taking the main stage at Chicago’s Grant Park for the Aug. 5-7 festival are Foo Fighters, Coldplay and Muse.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the first Lollapalooza, which existed as a multi-artist traveling festival started founded by Farrell and William Morris Agency in 1991. They pulled the plug on the traveling version, which was on hiatus from 1997-2003, for good after the 2004 edition was canceled because of poor ticket sales. The next year, in 2005, they resurrected the festival as an one-city, three-day event in Chicago. The brand is so strong that the team, which now also includes C3 Presents, bowed Lollapalooza Chile in Santiago in April.

Again, if you haven’t seen Muse live yet, run, don’t walk to get some tickets!

Have you been to Lollapalooza before? What do you think of the brand new Kanrocksas Music Festival?

Lykke Li Inspired by ‘New Moon’s’ Theme of “Helplessly in Love”

Posted April 19th, 2011 By: Evie No Comments »

Lykke Li tends to most always speak from the heart in her interviews and this latest interview with Vulture is no different. Here Lykke talks about her new album Wounded Rhymes before talking about her contribution to the soundtrack for New Moon with ‘Possibility’ and what exactly she was thinking. Read more below:

What was the appeal of contributing to the New Moon soundtrack?

What’s really funny is that it is mainstream. It’s like having space cookies at a lecture. A guy did that in a Swedish university. He gave the whole staff … nobody knew what it was. That’s what I was trying to do.

Um, what are space cookies?

Like brownies with marijuana in them.

Pot brownies!

It’s like you sneak in something strange, and it’s very rewarding.

Have you actually seen the Twilight movies?

No. I mean, they made me watch the second one, but that was before it was all done.

Did you enjoy it?

It’s not about enjoyment. For me, it’s about the actual: this girl that is hopelessly in love. I can relate to that.

Read the full interview at Vulture here.

Yeah, no words for this one…..

What do you think of what Lykke had to say?
