‘NEW MOON’ SOUNDTRACK: DETAILS ON THE RELEASE DATE AND CONTENT

Posted July 28th, 2009 By: Team Switzerland 17 Comments »

The other day we told you about the confirmed release date for the New Moon soundtrack, but today we hear it directly from the official New Moon soundtrack website. In addition to the confirmed date, they discuss a few of the bands rumored to be on there:

We are happy to announce that the New Moon soundtrack will be in stores on October 13th! That will give you all plenty of time to get to know the music before the movie is in theaters on November 20th. As Chris Weitz has mentioned, artists such as Thom Yorke, Bon Iver, Muse, and Band of Skulls are being discussed for the soundtrack but nothing is confirmed so far. Stay tuned to www.newmoonthesoundtrack.com for exciting information about the official soundtrack pre-order, which will get you tons of extras and exclusives before the album arrives!

Check out the official New Moon soundtrack site here.

Okay so even though Thom Yorke and Muse aren’t 100% confirmed, I’m going to hold out hope that they’re nearing the confirmation process (since Chris Weitz pretty much said they’re all in) and that we’ll hear about it soon. I’ve been hoping since day one that “TIme is Running Out” will be on this soundtrack, so I hope that’s the song they choose, but I’m happy with any Muse song!

What do you think about these bands likely being on the soundtrack? Who are you holding out hope for?

Hana Pestle’s “Need” has to be on the soundtrack, as well as “Closer” by Kings of Leon!

  • Jo

I recently heard the song Swim by Jack’s Mannequin and it really resonated with me. It feels so right for New Moon. Check it out!

  • rachel

I think “Fight Like This” by Decyfer Down is PERFECT for NEW MOON!! SERIOUSLY…PERFECT!! It’s how I think Jacob is feeling towards Edward!!! CHECK IT OUT!!!!

  • Beckie

As long as at least one muse song gets on, I’ll be happy, although some Paramore would be good too ;)

  • Jeff

The soundtrack music is very good. I found Michal’s song Nothing Makes Sense is really intersting. I think that was my favorite from those listed so far.

  • Oretha

Nothing really jumps out at me on the above list.
I really wish they would use atleast one main stream act.

  • kerri

Way off track here, but Foo Fighters song, Let it Die is the best Jacob song for BD! I swear the words are spookily relevant. Check it out on YouTube. DO IT DO IT DO IT!!!!!!

Oretha, seriously, main stream acts? Thom York is a freaking genius! Im psyched that their not mainstreaming. That would water it down too much. HOORAY FOR ALT ROCK!

  • Yaron

“Nothing Makes Sense” by Michal Towber is also my favorite. Hauntingly beautiful, and perfect for Bella when she is alone, sad, but hopeful.

  • My Mistake

These would all be amazing: Muse, Paramore, Linkin Park, Thom Yorke, Kings of Leon, Thriving Ivory, Hedley, Blue October..

I agree with you Kerri, mainstreaming would be a bad way to go. Who wants to hear Kelly Clarkson, Taylor Swift or .. *SHRIEK* Miley Cyrus on the soundtrack?!!?!? Insane if you ask me. I think you’re the exception Oretha, I would utterly HATE that.

Dude, it’s almost August. When are they gonna put this together? Everything’s still so up in the air.

to be blunt, i’m going to skip any old song that’s on the soundtrack because if i like them, i already own the album they’re actually from. that’s kind of all that’s being suggested instead of bands that should do NEW things. people don’t buy soundtracks for old songs, they buy them for new songs. if Paramore hadn’t been on the first it wouldn’t have sold nearly as much. but whatever. i just hope if there’s a lot of old songs, there’s even more NEW EXCLUSIVE songs. and Muse, Paramore, Linkin Park, Thom Yorke, Kings Of Leon, Thriving Ivory, and Blue October ARE basically mainstream, and I’d rather hear Taylor Swift than Thriving Ivory, his voice is horrible. and I also happen to be a fan of Kelly Clarkson, i thought her song fit well. it was written for the book. fits more than some just random love song.

I’d love new Paramore and new Muse, those and Mute Math (although I have the Muse album) are my favorites on the first one. and really just new music from anybody would be good, but nothing too pop, more indie rock or alt rock. Copeland might fit with the melancholy type mode. I’d also love my favorite band Eisley on it, but i doubt that’d happen. Nicole Atkins and Starflyer 59 also have voices that seem to fit into the genre of the first soundtrack. If there has to be old songs, they should use the songs Stephenie had on her website as her book playlists instead of just random old songs that might fit in somehow.

    I agree My Mistake !

God I think I would CRY If they had a main stream act Jesus!

Sorry Oretha but I think that your theonly Twilight fan who wants to hear popular music on the soundtrack cause in two years its not gonna be popular!

If it was up to you they’d be playing “The Climb” When bella runs to Edward. If youwant that kind of music go buy The Hannah Montana movie!

  • Alicia

Katy Pery’s THinking of You…. Enough said.

  • Yvette

I hope to hear Muse and Tom Yorke on the soundtrack :) Muse have a pretty good and suitable song in their new album called Undisclosed Desires..I hope it’ll make it ;)

  • Alex

I hope that Blue October will be on the soundtrack. I don’t care if it’s “Hate Me” or “My Never” or a new song. I think they would be perfect for any of the twilight saga soundtracks.

i think pink- i don’t believe you would be perfect

    No I don’t believe you
When you say don’t come around here no more
    I won’t remind you
You said we wouldn’t be apart
    No I don’t believe you
When you say you don’t need me anymore
    So don’t pretend to
    Not love me at all

    I don’t mind it
I still don’t mind at all
It’s like one of those bad dreams
    When you can’t wake up
    It’s like you’ve given up
    You’ve had enough
    But I want more
    No I won’t stop
    Because I just know
    You’ll come around
    Right?

Damien Rice has a few songs that would fit the tone of the movie i think.
