MALE Twilight fans are lusting after the babe of the movie – and it’s not leading lady Kristen Stewart. It’s sexy 21-year-old Ashley Greene.The Jacksonville, Florida, native made it to Hollywood via her work as a model.
Her first acting gig was on Ashton Kutcher’s MTV prank show Punk’d, where she played an underaged clubgoer who got unsuspecting actor Justin Long in trouble with the law, after which she nabbed bit parts in TV shows like Crossing Jordan, Desire and Shark.
But Greene’s big break came with Twilight, the vampire romance adapted from Stephenie Meyer’s best-selling book.
When the relatively unknown beauty was picked to play Alice Cullen – the quirky, sweet psychic foster sister of vampire hunk Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) – diehard fans thought she and her hair weren’t short enough.
Alice is described as being a petite 1.45m. Greene – a former competitive cheerleader and tae kwon do champion – is a good 20cm taller. But she wore a short wig, contacts and make-up that gave her a vampirish pallor to help transform herself into Alice.
On handling the mania surrounding the film, she told Vanity Fair magazine: ‘I hadn’t really done anything major and then this came about, so it’s kind of surreal…
‘I’m enjoying it right now and it’s really exciting, as long as people don’t, you know, follow me home. I think that Robert Pattinson might have that problem, but I think that I’m in the clear.’
Greene – who is single and says her career is her boyfriend now – just finished shooting indie horror thriller Summer and ’80s coming-of-age drama Skateland.
But what she really wants is to star in an action movie, be Wonder Woman, do serious drama and a costume period piece.
Oh, and be a Bond girl some day.She told the Florida Times-Union: ‘I don’t know if I’m old enough yet. But give me time.’YUMMY FACTOR: 3.5 out of 5
