KIDS’ CHOICE AWARDS: ‘TWILIGHT’ WINS BEST BOOK, TAYLOR LAUTNER ACCEPTS

We told you earlier that Rob Pattinson would not be attending the 2009 Kids’ Choice Awards, but even though Rob didn’t show up, Nickelodeon didn’t disappoint on the Twilight front. Not only did Twilight win Best Book, but our very own Taylor Lautner accepted the award!

Taylor Lautner (aka Jacob) accepted the Kids’ Choice Best Book award for “Twilight” from Hugh Jackman and Sandra Bullock, who both got slimed just as they announced the winner.

“This is awesome,” Taylor told the screaming crowd. “Thank you, guys.”

He added that “Twilight” creator/author Stephenie Meyer wished she could have been there and that they are shooting “New Moon” now and having a lot of fun.

“You guys are going to love it!”

And of course, every girl in the auditorium squealed and shrieked.

I was not at all surprised to see that Twilight won. I was disappointed that Taylor wouldn’t give Sandra Bullock a hug. That was poor form. Doesn’t he know who she is? I know she was slimy.. but COME ON! It was the Nick Awards!

yes yes yes I watched them, because I knew Twilight was nominated, and I figured we would win lol
and at the beginning of the show when they announce who’s going to be on it and they said Taylor I screamed then jumped around in circles haha.

I’m kind of surprised, actually! Anything up against HP has some serious competition! Crazy!
I’m definitely happy Twilight won, but I’d have been happy if HP won, too. haha.

I’m not at all surprised Twilight won. Yes, HP is a huge phenom of several years standing, but, RIGHT NOW, Twilight is rocking the world.

My daughter’s boyfriend works in a restaurant. He told me tonight, almost every worker in the place was discussing Twilight. Some of them had just purchased the DVD and all were talking about it. Then, several differnt tables of customers heard them and they joined in the discussion!! He is aware I have a slight interest in the subject. Ha!

Stephenie, your characters rule!!

Also, Taylor doesn’t look to be his usual happy self in the photos from tonight. I hope he smiled as he accepted the award. He has the best smile in the entire cast. Maybe he was just tired as we know he has been filming with Kristen very recently.

I have to admit, I LOVE LOVE LOVE Twilight, but i was kinda upset when HP didn’t win haha, I have been a Harry fan since I was 8, and a Twilight fan since early this summer hahaha! So I was glad either would win, but like HP has been there for me thru a lot. I know HP been around for the LONGEST time haha, nd it won like every year till now, but Twilight EXPLODED haha! Not anything against Twilight i still screamed I screamed even louder when Tay went and got it! He def had the BIGGEST smile like the whole time he was accepting!!

It was AWSOME that Twilight won for best book series, like we all knew it would!! I would’ve loved to seen Rob, but Taylor did a fantastic job & he’s so damn adorable!

I just watched the video. I don’t blame Taylor for not hugging Sandra. I would imagine if he had, she would have done all she could to slime him up a bit.

I thought he was very polished and professional as he accepted the award. Not many just-turned-seventeen year olds could have done as well. Or older ones for that matter. He seemed more of the Taylor we have come to know in the video.

I am still very, very happy he is Jacob.

he looks hot all the same. very very sexy. he didn’t smile in any of his pictures though.

YAY!! I’m so happy the twilight series won!!!!!!!! Since it was going against HP it must have been a pretty close race. IM so happy Taylor was there to accept it too

Only thing I thought was wierd…Ok, Rob is so busy filming, yet Taylor, is in the movie a hell of a lot more than Rob will be, shows up. I think Rob is officially going into permanent hiding…..

Its so funny because last night I had forgotten about the kids choice awards (shame on me lol) so I just turned on the TV really quick and it was already on the channel and all I saw was Twilight Seres on the board thing. i was like wow, what great timing.

twilight won! Yay! . I was torn between hp and twilight when i did the voting….but only for a second as i immediately clicked on twilight.
Im truly grateful to hp for giving me many magical years but i’ve think tat i’ve grown out of it. Right now its twilight’s turn. And i have to say its got alot more impact.:-)

I wasn’t surprised at all that Twilight won for best book…Taylor Lautner is looking good! I must say that he seems to handle publicity with a little more flair than Rob does…But then again, that could easily change once New Moon comes out. Then the paparazzi are going to swoop in on Taylor the way they did on poor Rob!

ok, i was not shocked… but i totally called this! as soon as the beginning credits came on, and it said “taylor lautner” i was like : yes! twilight totally won best book, an its gunna say and accepting this award on behalf of the twilight series is taylor lautner who plays jacob black in the upcoming new moon” … well i got most of it right but i was so excited! anyways.. he looked amazing!!! haaha

I think Taylor held his own very well for a solo appearance representing such a big name. He looked overwhelmed but was still polite. I don’t blame him for not hugging Sandra Bullock at all. We can’t force him to be slimed like that. For all you know, it may even be sponsored clothes and he was told not to get it dirty. We need to remember that he is only 17 and dealing such a major event with screaming fans on his own. Cut him some slack.

omg!!! i was nto surprised at all!!!!!! i am so happpy, and ina greement with waht someone said before, it was already expect twilight to win it, because it really is rulling the world……every friend of mine has read it or is reading it and i’vc read it the whole series twice alredy and cant get enough of it……

Teen choice, ok, but kids’ choice? really? should kids really be reading twilight? I mean I read it at them at 14, and even then I was mature enough to think I wasn’t mature enough to be reading it :/
how many of you think that Twilight won because of the movies? because I hope the people [kids aren't the only ones who can vote internet!] who voted actually read the books.
