BILLY BURKE TALKS NEW MOON AND KRISTEN STEWART
Billy Burke talks about his excitement to get started on Twilight’s sequel New Moon, and his connection with Kristen Stewart:
Rumors are swirling about who will be cast in Twilight’s sequel, New Moon. Twilight actor Billy Burke has his own wish list.“I would love to have Dakota Fanning in the movie,” Burke, who plays the character of Charlie Swan in the film, told PEOPLE at the World Poker Tour Celebrity Invitational on Saturday.
“She’s one of the most talented young actors that’s come around in ages.”
Burke, 42, who plays the father to Kristen Stewart’s character, Bella, starts shooting New Moon next month in Vancouver and can’t wait to reunite with his costar.
“We get along in this weird ethereal way that I haven’t gotten along with any costar before,” Burke said of Stewart. “She brings something that makes me want to go to work.”
Burke says he can relate to his character more the second time around since he became a father himself to his now-7-month-old daughter, who was born during the shooting of Twilight.
“It’s the weirdest and coolest thing I’ve ever had happen to me,” the actor says of being a dad.
“I had to turn down a movie last month because I didn’t want to be away from the baby. I’ve never had to make decisions like that before. I used to be a pretty selfish bastard. Now I’m thinking like I’d rather spend time with my kid.”
The best part about being a dad? “When your baby smiles at you with their whole body. It’s enough to make me fall down.”
I’m excited to see Billy Burke returning to play Charlie for New Moon. I think the bond he has with Kristen Stewart will really help, as his character attempts to keep his daughter together through the movie. Are you anxious to see how Charlie handles Bella’s sadness in New Moon?

Billy is fantastic, I’m really looking forward to seeing him in New Moon.
Billy Burke was one of my most favorite Twilight surprises. On our blog I said that he was the only one (in his 2 scenes with Edward) that could make me forget Edward was in the room. He was the PERFECT Charlie — maybe even better than book Charlie. I am so excited to see his character fleshed out in New Moon.
Kristen Stewart and Billy Burke played off each other wonderfully too.
I am really looking forward to seeing Billy in New Moon. I’m so glad he has a baby girl recently so he really knows parental love. New Moon was a great but heartbreaking story and I loved the way Charlie loved and supported Bella.
New Moon was a sad story but probably the most memorable to me. Probably my favorite book because of the depth of the emotion.

I am so excited to see Billy Burke again as Charlie, he was fantastic, I agree with Spank Ransom he steals the scenes with his presence, I think he is going to do a fantastic job as Charlie in New Moon.
Now that he is a dad he will be more intense about protecting Bella I think

I also like Billy Burke as Charlie. I love his understated, tranquil way of portraying this character. Just like I imagined Charlie. From some of the few interviews I have seen with Billy, this seems pretty close to his real life personality. I didn’t really like Charlie that much in the books, but I like the Charlie that Billy has given us.
I hope he and Kristen have at least a few intense scenes together. There are so many to pick from in New Moon.

Burke gave the best and most satisfying performance in the entire movie. Don’t believe me? Watch the scene where Charlie begs Bella with “I just gotcha back.” Not overacted. No weird pauses or stares. Just a guy who’s never known how to communicate trying and failing to keep from being heartbroken again. Charlie’s relationship with Bella was the one thing the movie got almost EXACTLY right.
I am really looking forward to Billy’s scenes in New Moon. He’s a great Charlie. I agree with the person above who said they didn’t like Charlie that much in the books. But in the movie, he’s really lovable and you feel for him trying to understand his kid when he really doesn’t know her at all. And the fact that all Bella can think about is Edward and she can’t share any of that with her Dad-because, well, what’s she going to say? She has to keep the most important thing in her life a secret.
Billy was great in that ep of The Closer he did! I was shocked at how good he was!
I think Billy did a great job in the movie and think he will be even better in New Moon. Just having a baby himself, especially a daughter, will help him all the more for the role he’ll have to play in New Moon. In Twilight he makes you believe he is her real dad!! Hopefully all the actors will be awesome and stay as true to the book as possible.

I really like him in this role. He remind me so much of my own old man. He was so believe about …yeah I think that is what i like most about him is this role. I’m happy that he is going to be in the next movie.
