People.com: New poll with suggestions for who should play Alec in New Moon.
With Dakota Fanning tapped for the role of Volturi vampire Jane in Twilight sequel New Moon, the casting of Alec, Jane’s undead twin brother, is director Chris Weitz’s next challenge.Compared to Jane, “his hair was darker, and his lips were not as full, but he was just as lovely,” writes author Stephenie Meyer of Alec in New Moon.
Possessing the ability to numb a victim’s senses, quiet but deadly Alec could be well-played by Tom Felton, who is known as Harry Potter’s foe Draco Malfoy. Some other suggestions? High School Musical’s Lucas Grabeel could follow his serious turn in Milk with an even darker one as the bloodsucker. And French actor Gaspard Ulliel of Hannibal Rising would bring a terrifying pedigree to the character, while Freddie Highmore, who sweetly stole scenes in Willy Wonka and Finding Neverland, could bring out his bad side.As two of the Volturi’s highest-ranking guards, Alec and Jane are fearsome foes of immortal Edward and his human love Bella, to be played again in New Moon by Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart.

Lucas Grabeel has the look while Freddie Highmore has the voice. I don’t like the idea of another Potter Pal in the mix and the last guy just seems to old for the part.
I second that. Lucas Grabeel looks like he could be related to (the already cast) Dakota Fanning. As for the voice, I don’t think Alec will be required to speak a whole lot, but if the screenwriter put in a few lines, Grabeel could be coached to sound more menacing.
Gaspard Ulliel would be a kickass Demitri, though…

WTF, NO WAY IN HELL! I don’t think either of them would fit. Obviously whoever keeps nominating these people, has never read Twilight series. Can’t they nominate someone who is actually the same age as Dakota. I think that Field Cate who is 12 would be another nominee.(Plays Young Ned in Pushing Daisies) or Hero Fiennes-Tiffen. who is around that age as well. Dakota might not get it, and if she doesn’t, ;like I said Jodelle Ferland would be great, and she’s worked with Kristen in “The Messenger.” She was also in “Silent Hill.” She what I imagined Jane would look like. She looks so innocent, but has a creepiness to her. Maybe even Dakota’s little sister Elle could be another candidate. I think they should give some unknown actor the job. Save the money for the special effect and not hiring some A-list star.
They should get Cameron Bright to play Alec! Seriously! He’s got that intimidating creepy factor that would play SO well in the film! He was in Thank You For Smoking, the third X-men movie, Running Scared, Ultraviolet. He’s a talented young actor who would do GREAT in this role!!! Check his imdb page:

I don’t think any of these actors fit the role of Alec. I love Elijah Wood, but he would cost to much and I really do prefer the cast to be fairly unknown.

Arent these vamps supposed to be beautiful? No offense, I hope, I just cant imagine looking into their faces and feeling the least bit terrified, like you do with Jane or Alec. Dont know. I hope they stick with under the radar actors. Summits helped boost alot of careers doing it this way. I pray they dont let any well known actors hop on the Twilight band wagon!
hmm, i think draco, but even if they chose him, he is way older then Dakota and they’re meant to be twins. or they could just use a nobody who fits the description. doesnt have to be some1 already famous.

I do think that Cameron Bright would be a good candidate for Alec. Bella Thorne would also be a good candidate for Jane.
i agree with the 1st post on here. that lucas guy looks the part…the others aren’t how i picture alec at all.
…I think they’re putting too many well known people in New Moon. The guy from Harry Potter should definitely not play Alec because there shouldn’t be two Harry Potter guys.

I agree with Lee, Jodelle Ferland would be a great Jane. There is a picture on her imdb page that is seriously frightening. She is smiling but has an incredibly creepy vibe to her.
On the other hand, Bella Thorne is a decent choice. She’s on My Own Worst Enemy with Taylor Lautner!
I don’t think any of these guys are a good choice for Alec. The biggest problem with Tom Felton (besides his height) is that people will not be able to let go of Draco especially since he’d be the 2nd HP addition to the cast. Cameron Bright doesn’t really fit the part either, and Elijah Wood is going to be 28 on Wednesday - TOO OLD!
jodelle ferland is an awesome choice 4 jane. as for alec i pictured freddie highmore but my 2nd choice would b hero fiennes-tiffin from harry potter and the half-blood prince
First…Dakota Fanning is only “rumored” to be playing Jane nothing has been confirmed or officially said by Summit. not saying I don’t think she should play the character, thats up to the casting director.
Second…They are twins so same height ish at least and around the same age. although Stephanie describes them as very similar, but unless they are going to find brother and sister twins that are the same height, weight and build then something along the lines should work.

none of these people are fit to play Alec!!! either they’re too old or too tall or too young :S i don’t tihnk they should worry about getting high end stars!! the movie should resemble the book or at least be pretty darn close, i hope stpehanie is helping them decide as well.. but Dakota fanning does not look anything like Jane in my mind.. to be Alec and JAne well i guess you have to be young, beautiful but scare the crap out of people as well and dakota and some of the actors above are too well non evil looking in fact totally opposite.. I really like Jodelle Ferland for Jane. Def not that hero fiennes-tiffin, well too me he kinda looks a little to scary..
doesn’t jane and Alec have dark hair so it doesnt matter really what they’re hair is like bascially just that they have to be twins and pretty similar… None of the above is my choice! The should just look for ferternal twins or people who are almost identical.

I don’t think Freddie Highmore should play it, that much I know. I think Gaspard would definetly add a creepy effect to it, but I think he is a couple years too old to play. I would like either Lucas Gabreel or Tom Felton. I’d rather have Lucas Gabreel because, to me, he looks alot like Alec should. But if their gonna hire Vanessa Hudgens for Leah, definetlty Tom Felton (given he died his hair a shade or two darker) because I don’t think ANY Twilight fan would be happy with not only one, but two High School Musical people taking over our beloved books.

I think Dakota Fanning and Freddie Highmore would be excelent for both parts. Jane and Alec are both child like in the book and I m sure we can see the evil side of these two actors. Lets face it teenagers can be evil to begin with and being actors they will nail these parts.
Ermmm I Really think cameron bright! have you seen the recent picture on the hyperlink it made me stop and try and imagine him in a dark cloak and with a evil little smile, but also looking innocent at the time aswell i really felt the VIBE!! and Dakota Fanning is already in a film called Push, alot of people will be going for Jane’s part but i think Bella thorne would be excellent just because she is just innocent looking, and then i suppose it would look so much better if sweet innocent girl’s turns out to be a little nusience (put into a nice way). Oh and i was wondering what are they gunna do with R.Pattz while there filming it they wont even need him til’ the end…. Oohhh I can’t wait. I think Lucas would be great with Dakota, even if Dakota doesn’t play Jane Lucas would be great. I have to say although Lucas would make a great Alec he’s just to well known.
Tom Felton would be the best choice in my opinion. He’s a great actor (especially as the bad guy as seen in Harry Potter) and he’s not too well known (for example, if you were to ask a random person if they knew who tom felton was, they’d probably say “who?”). It’s a pity that he’s too tall
Lucas Grabeel is a good actor, but he’s really well known, and I’d rather have someone play Alec who wasn’t really well known such as Tom. If he’s in it, most people would be paying attention to the fact that he’s in it, and not on what’s actually happening.
So that’s my opinion. I think that if they’re using camera tricks to make the werewolves look taller, then why not use camera tricks to make tom look smaller?

They don’t have to be twins. I don’t think we need to work so hard to find two people who look just like each other. The characters aren’t really related. Bella only says that they look like they could be because they are both so small and angelic looking. I kind of got the impression from the way he greeted her that they were mates. I could be wrong, of course, but on a recent perusal, that was my reaction.
i don’t want to see another harry potter guy in twilight so thats tom felton out, as for freddie high more, just look at him, NO WAY these vampires are meant to be beautiful, he’s just a cheeky chappie.

I definitely agree that Cameron Bright should play Alec…What can we do to make Chris Weitz stand up and take notice of our thoughts. I thought of him when I was reading NM…I couldn’t get the eerie bald kid from X-men out of my head. He is only 15, and 5″7 or something…pretty creepingly gorgeous looking kid! Sorry Cam!
Dude, Jane and Alec are supposed to be, like, ten! When I heard that Dakota might be playing the part, I nearly keeled over! I mean, yeah, she’s a great actress and now I think that she could play the part, but I barely liked the idea of a 15-year-old playing a 10-year-old. Lucas Grabeel and Gaspard Ulliel are ten years older than Dakota! Tom Felton is 7! (Plus, the old words from Rob’s annoucnment are going to go from, “Isn’t he the dead guy from Harry Potter?” to “Isn’t he the two-faced blond kid from Harry Potter?”) The only one that would be close enough would be Freddie Highmore, and I think that he’s still too old /and/ looks like a complete and total dork in that picture. If he looks like that all the time, then unless they had somesort of miricle (and I would hope that –it that were the case– they would use it on Robert Pattinson), he would look absolutly commical next to Dakota.
So, long story short, /no/. To all of them. I like Dakota for Jane, but they should really try to find a BOY to play the part of Alec. I mean, they /are/ supposed to be twins. Someone further down said to pick a new actor and save money on special effects. I agree. Thought they said that about Dakota, too, and I like her, so…. Oh, and I just read that someone had said that they weren’t related and they are. They are always refered to as “twins” in the fourth book. Their powers are opposites, and many twins, while the same, are different. So, I can say with fair certainty that, yes, Jane and Alec are indeed twins.

I think an unknown should be cast. Seemed to have worked this far. I’m not terribly excited about Dakota Fanning as Jane. She’s just not creepy. I’m on the bandwagon with Jodelle Ferland. Did you see that interview with her where she said, “I’d be played Jane Volturi.” Did I miss something? Since when were their last names Volturi?
none of the above,..I think it should be a younger actor around 15 years old,…That kid from Snow 2 brain freeze would be great. He looks like he could be a twin brother to Dakota, and hes not suppose to be identical, he’s a little darker haired and similar in features.

I think Tom Felton would be best as Alec. He does look sort of like Dakota. I think they should do something to his hair or something so it wouldn’t look like Draco Malfoy just showed up, but we know he can do a really good job as a bad guy, and they could do something with the camera or something to make him look shorter.
Also, why does everyone seem to think the ‘witch twins’ are kids? It never specifies. I always picture them maybe a year or two younger than Edward, like fifteen or sixteen.
Alex should be played by teen actor Alexander Conti. He would be perfect for the role. He is an intense actor who has the talent to make the character of Alec believable. He the same height as Dakota and similar look,..blonde, full lips and light eyes.

I agree, Alex should be played by this talented rising star, Alexander Conti. Why not? He’s better than the other choices, and he’s italian and so are the Volturi’s. I think director Weitz and Stephenie Meyers should give him a shot!!!

Tom Felton, He would be perfect. He has the not-so-cmpletely full lips, already pale skin, and his hair is naturally darker (He just bleaches it out for Harry Potter) I don’t want a Disney Star playing in New Moon, and the other two have too dark hair, it should be just a bit lighter
Alexander conti is perfect for the role he is the same age as dakota and he has the same look not to mention he is a great actor who has yet to get a big break please consider alex for the role i think that he could really make it awsome
Thomas Sangster would be absolutely brilliant, I think! Or Liam Aiken, as he looks very vampire-ish. If not, Freddie Highmore I suppose. For sure not Gaspard, maybe for another part, but he should definitely stick to French films - he’s brilliant!
I personally think that Elijah Wood should play Alec because of his facial features. But you don’t have to agree with me. It would be better if the actors playing the part of Jane and Alec where preteens. Like Jodelle Ferland. She would be a perfect Jane. But if they do decide to give Dakota the part of Jane then Elijah or Lucas would be the better choices. I haven’t decided a good preteen actor for Alec, but I do know this; replacing Taylor Laurnter was the biggest mistake of their lives and in the end, I better not see Zach Efron on screen standing next to Dakota!

I agree Alec should be Alexander Conti. He’s not famous yet, and he has worked enough to give a great performance.
The other suggestions are too old. Look at who they cast as Caius, Jamie Campbell Bower. He looks great, so I think that Alec has to look much younger than Bower because Jane and Alec were changed as childre. If they cast older, then it wouldn’t make any sense that Alec look to be the same size and age as Caius or the other guards.

I’m sorry, but I can’t see any of those people being Alce. I alway saw Alec as a kinda tall boy with dark long hair. But if I had to pick one I would pick the bottem left, because the rest of the them look to old.
I think Tom Felton would be great because he is used to playing a kinda evil character.
Whoever it is i’m sure it will be just as amazing as Twilight. And I hope they don’t get rid of Taylor Lautner because he is the best character!!
