The Libby Awards are where peta2 (PETA’s youth division, which is aimed at 13- to 21-year-olds) recognizes all the amazing companies, bands, people, etc who are helping animals.You voted, we counted, and now the results are in for the 2008 Libby Awards! Cute! I’m not sure if fans voted on this or not, but either way I think it’s cool. Twilight is friendly to the animals! They won not only for being friendly to animals but by being the MOST Animal Friendly Movie. Good to know. What do you think of Twilight winning the Libby Award?

um…they eat animals. I don’t get it. They call themselves vegetarians but it’s a joke.
I don’t get why they won this award, they EAT animals.
Seriously, where and how were any animals involved to protect in this movie or anything remotely close?
I’m pretty sure it is because Bella eats veggie burgers and mushroom ravioli and at one point tells her dad it would be healthier if he skipped the steak and ate a salad. The reason that stuck with me is because I am a vegetarian, so I notice if a character eats like that too.
Got to love the irony in this award.

Someone asked about what animals to protect… there are real shots of deer in the movie. That’s my guess. The camera crew worked very hard to get close-up shots of the deer in natural habitats. It mentions that in the Movie Companion.
err… kind of ironic when Edward “eats” a deer in one of the first scenes, don’t you think?

Yes, because we all know that killing animals and drinkong their blood is totaly animal-friendly.
I think it’s cool that the movie won that, but really… haha they eat animals

I’m with everyone else. I have no idea why they won this award especially since in the movie edward sucked the blood out of bambi. so i don’t understand this one at all! i would think that hotel for dogs would win this one.
I find it ironic especially since the very first scene in the movie you see Edward hunting a deer.

Im a vegetarian and if I had to choose, I would rather eat an animal that was hunted and killed in a second, than to eat an animal that has been in captivity since the day it was born, taken from it’s mother, then brought to a slaughterhouse, terrified, because it knows it’s going to die.
Animals who are free don’t know when they are going to die. When someone shoots them, it happens so quickly that they don’t get a lot of time to be scared. They have lived a good life and they have been free for their whole lives.
I like that Bella is a vegetarian in the movie. She’s a good rolemodel.
I think it is great that they got this award. Idon’t care what other people say. Twilight rules!!!!!!!
I think that is very ironical… I think it’s so ironical that I very nearly laughed myself out of my chair! Did they miss the part about the vampires who KILL the animals and drink their BLOOD?? HAHAHAHAHA!

1.Haley Williams (Paramore) is a vegetarian and is kind of a helper for peta2.
2.The deer is DIGITAL.
3.The wolves were real,but they didn’t abuse them while filming.
4.Bella is a vegetarian in the movie.In the commentary,Catherine even said.
How do I know this?I’m on the peta2 street team,and,I’m a HUGE Twilight fan.I don’t care what people say.Twilight is the best thing to ever happen, and peta is trying to right the wrong.People just want to get everyone mad,so that they can get rid of Twilight and animals for good.
