REELZ CHANNEL – TOP 10 WUSSIEST VAMPIRES

Posted October 29th, 2008 By: 9 Comments »

REELZCHANNEL came up with a list of the top 10 wussiest vampires….um yeah…Edward is on it. At least he’s not number one – good news on that front. Coming in at number 8, Edward Cullen: (WARNING: adult language below!)

Novelist Anne Rice could well be called the originator of the wussy vampire with her not-so-vaguely homoerotic Vampire Chronicles series and the subsequent movie adaptations Interview with the Vampire and Queen of the Damned.

A few years ago, young Mormon housewife Stephenie Meyer took Rice’s world as a jumping-off point, but Meyer set her tale of wussy vamps in modern times and aimed it squarely at the tweener set.

As we close in on the November 21st release of the first Twilight movie, we thought it a good time to sift through the annals of wussy vampires on the big screen. Although Rice’s and Meyer’s vampires la femme certainly qualify in terms of sheer androgyny, we’ve also included some vamps we simply don’t find terribly intimidating.

As always, we’d love to hear your thoughts. Disagree with our choices? Do you have a wussy vampire that should have made our list? Drop us a comment below.

8 Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson in Twilight)
I know, I know. Edward probably deserves a higher place on such a list. But don’t forget, he’s landed here based solely on the trailers. Once we’ve seen the entire movie, Edward’s sure to climb the ranks very quickly. Described by Twilight author Meyer as having pale marble skin, pouting full lips, and high cheekbones, Edward is the fantasy of many a young teenage girl, and probably a few guys in West Hollywood.

The list has Blade, Louis de Pointe du Lac, David, Dracula, Armand and Lestat. I totally disagree with this list. I think they just came up with it to annoy fans of any vamp stories. What do you think? Do you agree with the list? Why? why not?

for starters the got the name of the character that Stuart Townsend’s character in Queen Of The Damned wrong. He played LESTAT, not LOUIS!
To quote them “Louis de Pointe du Lac (Stuart Townsend in Queen of the Damned)”, that right there speaks for itself. The obviously do not know what they are talking about, when they do more in depth research about vampires the need to call me up and maybe it will matter to me :)

  • Amanda Kay

That list is a bunch of crap! I think they really had nothing better to do with their time than come up with that list. And putting Armand & Lestat on there?? PUH-LEASE!!

  • Bre

I don’t really think they’re against Edward/ Twilight. Like its nothing to get upset over. Edward really isn’t an intimidating person. I mean he is to an extent. But if you put all the vampires together in all the literary works, he would probably be considered a wussy. But hey, I still love him. :)

  • Chelsea

okay…wow…calm down. it’s for the WUSSIEST vampires, not the UGLIEST or LESS APPEALING vampires…
vampires are meant to be part of Horror movies.
Edward’s one of those in a vampire Romance movie.
he’s just not one of the typical “bad-ass” vampires that we love to see in horror films, so seriously…chill out. I’d agree that he’s probably worthy of being on the WUSSY list, but that’s just because he’s not much a fighter, he’s a lover.

  • Sabrina

I think Edward deservs his spot and will definitely climb once the film has come out, but more than that I’m just amused that Lost Boys’ David made number three. As if that movie were not homosexual enough.

  • Emmy

Yeah. The list must just be: “How can we make Vampire fans mad?”
Those were seriously some interesting choices. Personally I loved the Vampires in Interview With A Vampire.

  • Lindsay

    Reelz definitely heard from me……………………
