No way! The Host is awesome!

  • Mel

Not that it doesn’t rate. it’s prolly cuz of all the hype around Twilight atm cuz of the movie and all the Breaking Dawn controversy. The host came out a few months ago, it’s normal for it to fall down the list as newer books are released.

  • Jessica

Yeah my answer to that would most certainly be no. It was okay, and I’d read the sequel. but the story lack the “just can’t put it down” factor.

  • Mel

Totally wrong. The host is a thousand times better than Twilight. Wanda is a much better protagonist than Bella. But everyone is entitled to their own opinions.

I agree and disagree w/you, Jessica. I definitely didnt love the Host as much as I love any/all of the books in the Twilight Saga- but not b/c it lacked the “just can’t put it down” factor. B/c personally, i could NOT put the Host down AT ALL when i was reading it, and i really, really liked it- even loved it- but just not to the same extent as I love the Twilight Saga. In all fairness, i dont think it has anything to do w/Stephenie Meyer’s actual writing (or storytelling) in the book, its just my personal preference- Ive loved werewolves 4 years, and vampires 4 AGES (ive been obsessed w/anything about vampires 4 quite some time now), so when it comes to the subject matter, you just really cant beat Twilight 4 me. Therefore, i personally definitely did not love the Host as much as I love Twilight, but i dont think it would necessarily be fair 2 say that it didnt “measure up” to the Twilight series, b/c in my case it had nothing to do w/the actual quality of the book and everything 2 do w/the subject matter- which is obviously not something SM can do anything about.

Perhaps the Twilight Saga just appeals to a wider audience, and that is why it is so much more popular than the Host? or maybe just b/c the Twilight Saga has gotten so much more publicity, what w/the movie coming out, BD coming out, and its growing popularity in general- after all, its had several years to gain momentum as opposed to several months? idunno, those are all just guesses, wouldnt help you if they could.

Is the Host good? I’ve not yet set down the Twilight series, after my third run through. I’ll have to bye it. I love Harry Potter, but it’s nice to see Twilight bump Jo Rowling out of the top ten. Move over Harry, theirs a vamptastic babe in town, Edward!
