STEPHENIE SATURDAY: STEPHENIE’S PLAYLISTS – ‘WHY DOES IT ALWAYS RAIN ON ME?’
Sadly, all good things come to an end. Stephenie Saturdays has reached the end of the outtakes and extras that are featured on Stephenie Meyer’s official website (Outtakes and extras are only available for Twilight and New Moon, though we hope she will one day post some for Eclipse and Breaking Dawn!).
We will continue to bring you questions answered by Stephenie every other Saturday, and on alternating Saturdays, we are happy to bring you a fun new feature called Stephenie’s Playlists. We will share a video for each song on Stephenie’s extensive playlist, discuss the artists, their music and how they fit into the Twilight universe.
For the very first edition of Stephenie’s Playlists, TAers Claire and Rebecca bring us the song ‘Why Does it Always Rain on Me?” by Travis, a little about the band, and of course some questions for consideration. So without further ado, here is your very first edition of Stephenie’s Playlists:
Questions:- Do you like this song? Do you think it fits Twilight?
- Why do you think Stephenie added Why Does it Always Rain on me to her playlist?
- What did you think of this video?
- Had you heard of Travis before reading Stephenie’s playlist? What other Travis songs do you know?About Travis
Travis was formed in Glasgow, Scotland in 1990 and was initially called Running Red and later Glass Onion. When Dougie Payne joined the band he had not played a bass guitar before and completed a two week crash course in his bedroom. Travis’s first album ‘Feeling Good’ sold just 40,000 copies. Following the release, the band toured extensively; this improved their reputation and they are now well-known for their live performances.
Travis have twice been awarded British album of the year at the annual BRIT Awards, and are often credited with having paved the way for bands such as Coldplay, Keane and Snow Patrol. Travis performed at Live 8 London concert and in 2001 their song “Sing†was the most played on British radio that summer.
