I just cannot believe that Rachelle left on her own! She’s said in numerous interviews how excited she is to film Eclipse, and how hard she’s worked to get in fighting shape!

I am completely in shock! Rachelle IS Victoria! Summit needs to give more of an explanation than to say that Rachelle left due to scheduling conflicts!

All the Twilight fans in my house are in tears over this news! Rachelle please come back!!!

I so hope this is not true! No offense to Bryce, but no one can replace Rachelle! I am soooooooo disillusioned by this news!

I’m really disappointed. I was hoping they would be able to keep the cast intact throughout all the films. If they were gonna lose anyone, I thought it would be for Breaking Dawn (if it is made) since people weren’t committed already and they haven’t decided when they are filming it.

The only thing I can think is that either the Eclipse director or the other project’s director wasn’t willing to be flexible to allow her to do both. That is such a bummer. This other project better be worth it! I thought she was great, and she is totally my picture of Victoria now.

making the rounds and I see that it was reported as early as 7/11 that she signed to do another movie that started filming the same day as Eclipse.

What was she thinking?! Did someone in her camp overestimate her irreplaceability?

This sucks royally. I can’t believe this didn’t get worked out. I know Rachelle has to think beyond New Moon and who wouldn’t want to work with Dustin Hoffman but they should have found out a way to get it done. Rachelle also new this going further into New Moon. Not blaming her. I love her and she IS Victoria. I am sad she won’t be in it and don’t care of Bryce Howard. She doesn’t look “Victoriaish” at all. It will not be the same.

Summit made a deal that Bryce would replace Rachelle in return for Bryce’s daddy Ron Howard’s promise to direct a movie for them. (Being a North Carolinian, I have just blasphemed against the beloved Opey Taylor…)

Conspiracy Theory #2:

Something happened at Comic-Con or very, very recently that Summit or Slade didn’t like and Rachelle was pushed out.

These are just things that have crossed my mind in the last few minutes. I LOVE Rachelle, and while I’m not doubting Bryce’s acting chops, I just don’t see the rationale in Rachelle leaving. How hard would it be to rearrange shooting schedules? Victoria is of major importance in Eclipse, but its not like she’s actually SEEN all that much.

Recasting leads to loss of fans. Do they think that we’re so faithful that we’ll still go see it? (Yes, because we are…but not before Summit gets tons of frantic feedback from the Twilight Nation.)

I’m not anti-Bryce, but I’m definitely staunchly pro-Rachelle.

I am just shocked…..when I heard this I immediately thought who her daddy is. People will see the movie, and she may be good…but really they all need to explain in detail, not scheduling conflicts. Whatever..grrrrr

This seems to be a connected to the speed at which they are trying to bring these movies out, resulting in conflicts. All the things, problems and otherwise, really sure the immaturity of Summit as a production company.

I hope its wrong. Maybe we can hope that our pull as fans can change this as we did with Taylor’s attempted recasting.

I was really looking forward to seeing how scary Rachelle would be. I have seen most of Bryce Dallas Howard’s movies and i just don’t think she has the evil foreboding presence Rachelle has.

THIS SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! For me Rachelle is the true Victoria, I really can’t see Bryce Dallas Howard playing Victoria. It’s going to be SO hard to watch the parts of New Moon that Rachelle is in knowing that she wont be staring in one of the biggest scene’s in Eclipse I do wish the to Rachelle I think she has a great future ahead of her. We were so lucky to meet her this past Spring and she is a very nice down to earth person…

Coming back from the IMDB board where people are generally losing their minds that Rachelle was “kicked out” and missing the obvious information that there was “scheduling conflicts”, I’m glad to see some intelligence here.

Rachelle probably could have continued with Eclipse over her other film if she could – that’s where things get a little iffy for me though. Roles in Twilight have made the cast and look at the opportunities they’re getting now. With the exception of Kristen or Rob, I can’t imagine an Ashley, Kellan or even Jackson, to an extent, get the interest they’re garnering now without the success of the first film.

I adore Bryce, talented, beautiful, although I’m curious if she can be as “hard” as Rachelle has made Victoria. Regardless, the films will continue, everyone will see them and probably love them too.

A prior “commitment”??? What does Rachelle have that supercedes her commitment to the Twilight movies? It makes you wonder if Rachelle has lost it and wants out, or something more dramatic happened and Summit wanted to give Rachelle the boot.

Bryce at least by looks seems like she’ll do a good job (if Summit says so, we’ve got to at least give her a chance) of playing Victoria, but she still needs to earn her “Twilight Stripes”.

Summit is such an immature, small time company and should not have taken on this series in the first place. They are too green and don’t know how to handle this production. Summit has always disappointed me and if I needed more of a reason to hate them, I believe I have found one.

I refuse to believe that Rachelle would do this intentionally to fans! I was at Comic Con and the special screening, and her energy was just awesome. It was obvious how much she cared for and adored the fans!

I have no ill will towards Bryce, I actually think she is a great actress, but Rachelle WAS Victoria. Everytime I read the books, she is who I see. Her mannerisms and personality are just Victoria to me. And her passion for the project was so easy to see.

This is so sad! I’m sure Bryce will do a good job as Victoria but…it just seems so blatantly unfair that Rachelle isn’t goin to be in Eclipse. Especially given that Victoria is such a force to be reckoned with in the book. And Rachelle has ALWAYS been so supportive of the films, giving so much of her time and presence wherever fans have gathered. This is not RIGHT! I can’t believe Rachelle would do this after her interview at Comic Con on July 23 when she told MTV and EW that she couldn’t wait to film Eclipse. She was excited about doing this role since it was the pivitol scene for Victoria and she had been working hard to get into shape to act out the fight scene in Eclipse. I like Bryce’s work but she always seemed kind of mellow to me and Rachelle had the wickedness about her to pull off Victoria. I can’t imagine anyone else as Victoria. It would be like switching Daniel Radcliff with Elijah Wood as Harry Potter. I think Jen is right about this being something Summit has come up with. Bryce is a good actress but I have to wonder that now since Twilight has become a CASH COW for Summit if they are not trying to draw more well known actors and directors like Ron Howard to do their movies. What better way to do this is to get them involved with the Twilight Saga. I want believe anything coming from Summit about this change. Didn’t they say Catherine Hardwick left because of previous scheduling conflicts and then we find out from her that they fired her because she asked for more money to be put into the next movie and a longer production time for the making of the movie so she could make a better movie. I won’t believe this excuse until I hear Rachelle say why she is leaving. This just want do and I think the fans need to voice their view on this since we are paying their salaries when we go to see the movies. Two months to film Eclipse is to short of time to film a quality movie we are expecting. That’s right they start filming August 17 and finish on October 30.

It doesn’t take a brain surgeon to figure this one out guys. Rachelle is “TOO OLD” in Summits opinion to be cast as one the featured leads for the next movie. She was good enough to get them to this point, but now she is no longer of use to them, and they does not fit into their age target, AND she DOESN”T have the POWER and CONNECTIONS that Summit wants to try to get onto good terms with in Hollywood.
Do you see what they are doing, or not. They are making it into a movie for all major directors kids. This strategy is repulsive and I’ve totally LOST RESPECT for Summit hereforth.
They are also so used to the fans being so fickle and putting up a fuss, but banking on the fact that you will quickly get over it. Especially with their trolls in blog rooms trying to promote postitive aspects for the new girl. They know you’ll get over it in time, so they really didn’t care what the fans thought. Very crafty SOB’s.
I personally LOVED Rachelle as Victoria, and it would have been her opprotunity for a breakout roll and they pulled the rug out from under her. But we were all very aware of the fact that Summit doesn’t like to cast anyone over 30 as leads in any of their movies.

I’m not happy about this. Rachelle is Victoria. No one else can come in now and play this part and make it work. Rachelle has made it her own. If this was her decision, then it was a bad one. It was obvious quite a while back that this was going to be a four movie deal. If you sign on for one, you pretty much have to sign on for them all. You owe it to the fans. If this was a decision by anyone else, then they need to know that it’s wrong, and it needs to be fixed. Whatever needs to happen to get Rachelle back into Eclipse needs to happen now. The movie cannot be made without her. I am so angry about this, it’s going to eat away at me until Rachelle rejoins the cast.

Somehow, I get the feeling there are going to be a lot of let down fans that will support Rachelle even though she’s not playing Victoria any more and will practically shun Bryce out. But I have to say we should at least respect that she’s filled the place in, and how brave have you got to be knowing exactly how the fans will react, she’s now got to put up with all of us being angry and annoyed and let down, so personally I’m going to give her a shot.

This really sux! I was afraid that Summit was going to start recasting the lesser known faces once the series gained momentum and yep it’s happening right now. Bringing on a bigger name to play Victoria…please it’s so obvious what they’re doing. I adore Bryce Dallas Howard but I hate casting changes…hope this doesn’t screw up Eclipse since it’s my favorite book in the saga!

I’m a 45 year old fan of the books and movies and this is a HORRIBLE mistake and “reeks” of Summit & new director decisions. This decision was made due to the fact they know it’s a $$$ making franchise and they thought bringing in a better-known actress would help? Please! If it isn’t broke, don’t fix it!!

SUMMIT – what are you doing??? Yes, we will all see the movie anyways because we are LOYAL fans…but how about some loyalty from you?

There is NO WAY they can put this back on Rachelle, stating conflicts. She knows what a great series this is and it smells of “personal” to me. Someone wanted Bryce Dallas Howard in this movie and didn’t care about Rachelle or the loyal fans.

I doubt protesting would help, but if I thought it would, I’d be first up. I think Rachelle is not only perfect for the role, it is HER ROLE. She made Victoria real to us…and to top it all off – she’s been at soooooooo many of the openings, cons and signings…she’s so loyal to coming out to meet and greet fans. I’m blown away by this.

Yeah so, I always read news updates on TA, but never really comment. This just gave me the NEED to comment.
What’s going on?! Really whats going on? This is shocking news. I mean No offense to Bryce, not at all. Rachelle makes the perfect Victoria. I can’t see Victoria any other way now. That’s the problem. Its too late in the saga to change her.

Anyhow, I guess things always happen for a reason. I’m willing to deal with the changes it will just be difficult.

On a good side note, it’s not too bad. I’m sure that Bryce will make a wonderful Victoria, it will just take sometime getting used to.

Like someone said previously, it’d be different if Bryce played Victoria in New Moon…but to make the cast change now…?? seems a little odd. I like Bryce and think she could handle the role but it would have been totally different if she were ALWAYS Victoria. And to come in in Eclipse of all books…sucks that they couldn’t delay shooting for Rachelle. I’m interested to see how she handles the role. Everytime I’ve seen Bryce, she’s played wacky weird roles. I don’t know. Bummed is all I can think of.

Judging by the amount of comments it’s obvious that people really like Rachelle.. She’s lovely, witty and modest at the same time.. And I think that’s the problem.. If the new director wants to introduce darker mood to the franchise, then the replacement was unavoidable. I am in shock. Rachelle was the embodiment of Victoria. She has the voice, movement, that sharp catlike quality as described in the book. She is so smooth in her portrayal— what is really going on behind the cast change. I find it hard to believe that “scheduling problems” are the source for this major upheaval. I like Bryce Howard, she’s very good in the parts that I’ve seen. However, she does not have the feline quality Victoria is said to possess. She is much softer, and innocent than that. I suppose there is no choice but to give her a chance, if it’s a done deal.

Instead of blaming Summit…why don’t we take a good look at Rachelle?

Obviously she chose the other movie over Eclipse. Either that or it was near impossible to get out of the contract with the other movie.

WOW! What a shock! I was hopefully that the original cast would be the same throughout the saga. It mentioned scheduling conflicts, apparently she has committed to another project and wasn’t aware Eclipse was shootintg so soon. I am disappointed, but I understand. Rachelle was the perfect Victoria, off screen, she had a vibrant energy. I’m sure Bryce will be another form of energy to the screen. I’ve seen her in Terminator Salvation as Kate Connor…excellent!

I’m so sad to hear this news, my friends and i had the chance to meet Rachelle, we stopped her when she was walking down the street to get coffee (All we had to see was that beautiful RED hair and we knew it was her) and she was so genuinely sweet to us, she spent a lot of time talking to us, and took great pictures with us, atleast we all have our pictures at our desks at work to remember. It’s not going to be the same. super sad

Okay I am honestly SHOCKED!!! What the HECK?! Wasn’t Rachelle just recently talking about how excited she is to work with that actor who’s going to play Riley? There must be something more behind this than scheduling… I thought Rachelle had a CONTRACT to do Eclipse? I’m thinking that Summit/David Slade must be behind this, I really cannot see Rachelle just ducking out of Eclipse like this by her own choice. Honestly, I think recasting halfway through the saga is the biggest mistake anyone could possibly make, and this will severely affect the movie. Unless Rachelle herself comes forward and tells us that she is leaving by choice, I hope Summit is prepared for the backlash they’re going to get. I just can’t believe they would do this. I am completely shocked!

However, Miss Howard is a VERY VERY good actress; and if Rachelle is willingly relinquishing her role as Victoria, I am pleased Summit has sought out an actress capable of playing the dramatic and fierce role that is Victoria.

People need to stop blaming summit and look at the picture. -Rachelle is an actress, she’s made a prior commitment and feels obligated to keeping it.
Don’t write hate mail to summit and to Miss Lefevre, don’t judge a book by it’s cover.

Give Bryce a chance to prove herself onscreen in June of 2010.

We’ll then see what she, Summit, and David Slade are made of.

Isn’t the fact that “we’ll still love the movie” kind of disconcerting? Summit knows that they’ve got movies with a built-in fan base, so they can just make changes and not lose sleep over it. What about loyalty to the fans? What about loyalty to the actors? I LOVE Twilight, but I really, really, really can’t stand Summit. Most of their other movies seriously suck. Have you tried to watch Push? A Paris Hilton movie? Sorority Row? Please. Something must have changed over there around 2006, because they’ve been crap ever since.

I was never a huge fan of Rachelle. She didn’t bug me but she didn’t quite sit right with me either. I’m excited to see someone else in that roll. I’m glad that while everyone is upset, no one is really attacking Ms. Howard. She is a lovely actress, and I believe that she will be fierce in the roll of Victoria.

Some people are just over the edge though. Victoria is a minor character, no they are not going to let her film earlier, and no they aren’t going to keep everyone on set longer. I think you all are forgetting that they are running a multi million dollar business, they are not going to pay millions to stay on set for a minor character to film. Summit most likely doesn’t care that everyone is upset that they are making a change, because they already have their fan base. No one is going to refuse to go see it because of this cast change. In response to Summer … I am well aware that Richard Harris (the original Dumbledore pasted away) I was not Referring to the change in character re. The Harry Potter series. Although I do feel they could most definitely found a better Dumbledore. What I was referring to is the STORY Line and Not changing it as they have in those movies. Taking out parts that should be in and putting in parts that don’t even make sense. After the 4th movie the movies after should be flush down the toilet. My comment was beside the actor change not to destroy the story line as well.

I like Bryce, there’s something UNIQUE about her. When it comes to looks she is a very good replacement for Rachelle. She doesn’t look too different from our Victoria.

I REALLY DON’T LIKE REPLACMENTS, even for the SMALLEST of CHARACTERS, but I heard that she’s going to be involved with a lot of INFLUENTIAL PEOPLE (EX: S. Spielberg, C. Eastwood and P. Jackson) on the other project which is VERY GOOD for her.

It’s Okay(I understand)but VERY SCARY TO THINK SOME ACTORS MIGHT LEAVE OUR BELOVED FRANCHISE SO EASILY AND QUICKLY!

I’ll miss Rachelle like the rest of you. It will be hard to see another face of Victoria esp after NM and Eclipse soon to follow after that. I was really looking forward to that fight between her and Edward, a fight in which ROB AND RACHELLE who are acting it out.

Why do I have a feeling that Eclipse will be different from the book? I think maybe Summit and DS are aiming for a wider audience. Replacing Rachelle with a more well known actor like Bryce, well maybe they want to make the role of Victoria more prominent rather than a minor one. I have a feeling that there will be a lot more of screen time for Victoria/Bryce than there is in the book. They keep talking about how Eclipse will be darker and we all know DS’s “dark” style. My only theory is that maybe they didn’t think Rachelle had a ferociousness of acting to bring out a really dark side of Victoria, maybe they’ll be focusing a lot of scenes about Victoria creating the newborns instead of them just showing up. Just my thought.

If they do any more cast changes for BD, esp of the Cullens, that would be it for me. Maybe I’ll go see the movie but just once, not every week like I plan to with NM. This B.S. about schedule conflicts better stop here. Cam G. was accommodated as James, and he was just a minor role as well.

After thinking about it. My biggest thoughts right now are the cast. They’ve been very open about how they all feel like family. Well… wonder what this will do to the dynamic of their ‘family structure’. I have no ill will towards Bryce and wish her success in everything that she does. But this is just like Taylor’s situation after Twilight. The story line and movie plot just wouldnt have been the same if they’d replaced him with someone else.

First official word from Rachelle:

“I was stunned by Summit’s decision to recast the role of Victoria for ‘Eclipse,’” Rachelle said in a statement to Access Hollywood.
“I was fully committed to the ‘Twilight’ saga, and to the portrayal of Victoria,” Rachelle continued, explaining the turn of events that led to the casting change. “I turned down several other film opportunities and, in accordance with my contractual rights, accepted only roles that would involve very short shooting schedules. My commitment to ‘Barney’s Version’ is only ten days. Summit picked up my option for ‘Eclipse.’ Although the production schedule for ‘Eclipse’ is over three months long, Summit said they had a conflict during those ten days and would not accommodate me. Given the length of filming for ‘Eclipse,’ never did I fathom I would lose the role over a 10 day overlap. I was happy with my contract with Summit and was fully prepared to continue to honor it. Summit chose simply to recast the part.”

Just what we all thought….it was Summit that screwed the fans & Rachelle!

I feel soo bad for Rachelle! I mean, I don’t think she’s happy about it since the whole Victoria thing happens in Eclipse, and she’s missing it!
I am a little dissapointed in Summit too. I think the S.M should have taken a better company to handle it, someone more experienced. Sorry, but Summit is to much of a starter.
Someone said that they could have flimed later for Rachelle, which is silly because they can’t waste time just for one actor, and also the concern of Robert looking young *Edward is 17, Robert is 23 and is changing*. I hate changes, HATE HATE HATE changes.

I feel your anger and frustration. I too, am confused and irked by the fact that Summit would rather move with a different actress than try to accomodate Rachelle – someone that has been with the franchise since it started…This is what happens when a studio (sorry Summit, but you are the smaller fish in the Hollywood Pond) that has recently had success decides that they are bigger than they need to be…if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!

In case Summit hadn’t figured it out already, the fans of Twilight are very LOYAL. We have very clear pictures of who these characters are and how the story should go. Unlike the studio execs at Summit who are just counting the potential dollars that will come into their hands, we are fiercely protective of the saga’s integrity. We are all fervently and emotionally invested in the movies and how these characters bring the books to life. No offense to any newcomer, but throwing Rachelle Le Fevre under a bus like this is just COLD. Summit needs to realize that the masses aren’t loyal to THEM…they’re loyal to the STORY. We could all EASILY turn on them. I have witnessed the power of Twilight fans and I think everyone can agree with me…it can get SCARY.

This situation seems similar to Iron Man 2, where Don Cheadle replaced Terrence Howard, originally cast as Rhodes in Iron Man. The chemistry will likely be gone. Now that Eclipse involves a bigger role for Victoria, it seems like Summit are willing to risk a huge fan backlash…

How does Summit think casting someone like Bryce (sorry, no offense, Bryce) helps the integrity of the film? She’s no Julia Roberts (just an example). Follow the book, that’s all they need to worry about, it’s about the story, SM’s book, not your films that we fell in love with. Twilight film wasn’t exactly oscar worthy, but it made 300+ millions because of the story behind it, not because of your production or executive decisions. Being loyal to your cast that we fans have been loyal to should have been a minute inconvenience.

Summit screwed up. No offense to Bryce, but this is not her role..it’s Rachelle’s. If Summit didn’t want Rachelle to carry out this role, then they shouldn’t have hired her to begin with. That’s a bunch of bull. Rachelle seems to have been committed since the very beginning. We haven’t seen much of Rachelle as Victoria yet..but I’m sure she would have carried out her role greatly. Even though I haven’t seen much of her on screen yet..I can’t imagine ANYONE else playing the part of Victoria, other than Rachelle. I disagree completely with the recasting of her part. To take away Rachelle’s part right before she got to step out into the spotlight of character is just wrong. Summit…FIX THIS! I’m not buying into the whole “Scheduling Conflict”. I don’t know what the actual story is..but personally, I don’t think it matters. All that matters is that this whole situation be reconciled, and Rachelle be brought back to play the part of Victoria, as was originally planned. Rachelle, you have my support. Summit..you need to fix this, and fast. I guarantee your fans are NOT happy!..and won’t be happy until Rachelle is back.

Rachelle Lefevre was a huge assett to this cast. She has personality and charisma when it comes to interviews for the Twilight movies. She plays Victoria AMAZINGLY!! I DO NOT believe she left or was at fault for the change in casting. Summit has really been dropping the ball lately…First the lack of proper security for Rob in NYC, Second releasing absurd statements as if it is no big deal when Rob was hit by a cab, Third the change in casting this late in the series (now that we all have fallen in love with Rachelle), Fourth the ridiculous statement about why they released Rachelle and made the change, and finally its just icing on the cake IF they are putting the nix on Kristen and Rob! They are making great money off of this franchise and should be a little more accommadating to its actors and its fans!!!

First off I do not discredit Bryce’s acting ability.I have enjoyed her acting in previous movies and I do not blame her for this. I blame Summit mostly because they are the ones with the final say. i believe when I first heard this that it was Summit’s way of getting a bigger name in the movie and her father Ron Howard,especially when they say “scheduling conflict” which is usually just BS from studios (it’s like the “i’m washing my hair” line from girls). I thought of this even before Rachelle released her statement because she hadn’t mentioned anything about it,but more of how excited she was to filming Eclipse.When I first saw the movie I was very critical of it because I had read all of the books,but one thing I never criticized was Rachelle as Victoria.She was one of the best things out of that movie.Also the studio needs to realize that the reason the movie was successful was because most of us read the books, so when fans or even critiques have less negative critique on one the stars it should tell them something. Well when Victoria dies near the end of Eclipse I won’t be upset anymore because it won’t be Rachelle in the movie.

Harry Potter never changed characters (except in the case of Dumbledor cause the original one died, but they did it in the beginning so it was ok) and that’s why HP has made it as a great saga movie franchise, because they kept the same people. This is how sequal movies get ruined because people change characters. They better hope she can do a good job or better, cause if not there will probably be a riot of mad fans.

I don’t know where I’ve been, but I just found out about the replacing of Rachelle for the last two movies. I know that she was looking forward to Eclipse, because Victoria has such a big role in that particular movie. I am very upset with Summit for replacing her. I thought she did a great job in portraying Victoria. Most of us fans do not like change! I wish her well in all of her endeavors. She will be missed!!

I have seen Byrce Dallas Howard in Spider man. there is now way she can pull off Victoria. Summit is insane why would you mess with a perfectly could cast. I’m EXTREMELY happy with the change. Before I saw the movie, I really thought of Bryce as Victoria. Not only does she look how I expected Victoria to look, but she’s a wonderful actress and can definitely pull off the wild look. Anything she sets her mind to, Bryce seems to pull off. I’m really happy with the change. I never liked Rachelle as Victoria, though I have nothing against the actress personally.

And I read the book after I saw the movie cuz the book was backordered. Now I’m doubly mad and sad!
