Posted March 23rd, 2009 By: Team Switzerland 19 Comments »

About a week ago, Lainey Gossip reported the cast list for the wolf pack actors in ‘Twilight’, and now Summit Entertainment has officially confirmed that the reported actors (no word on the the reports that Tinsel Korey will play Emily) will, in fact, be in the sequel to ‘Twilight’, ‘New Moon’. Read below for their official statement:

Los Angeles, CA March 23, 2009 – Summit Entertainment announced today that Native American/First Nation actors Chaske Spencer, Bronson Pelletier, Alex Meraz, Kiowa Gordon and Tyson Houseman have signed on to star as the members of the wolf pack in THE TWILIGHT SAGA: NEW MOON. In the film, the wolf pack defends humans against vampires although they have a tribal history intricately entwined with Edward Cullen and his family. The wolf pack members will join Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and fellow wolf pack member Taylor Lautner in the film directed by Chris Weitz which will be released domestically November 20, 2009.

In THE TWILIGHT SAGA: NEW MOON, Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) is devastated by the abrupt departure of her vampire love, Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) but her spirit is rekindled by her growing friendship with the irresistible Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner). Suddenly she finds herself drawn into the world of the werewolves, ancestral enemies of the vampires, and finds her loyalties tested.

Each member of the wolf pack is of Native decent. Spencer is Lakota (Sioux), Pelletier is Cree-Metis, Meraz is Purepecha (Tarasco), Gordon is Hualapai, and Houseman, who was discovered at an open casting call, is Cree. Casting of the wolf pack was overseen by award-winning casting director Rene Haynes who is well-known for her work on Native projects ranging from DANCES WITH WOLVES to BURY MY HEART AT WOUNDED KNEE.

The action-packed, modern day vampire love story and blockbuster success of the first film in the series entitled TWILIGHT was released in theatres on November 21, 2008 grossing $69.6 million domestically during its first weekend. To date the film has grossed nearly $380 million worldwide. TWILIGHT was released on DVD, Blu-ray and VOD this past Saturday, March 21st and sold over 3 million DVD units in its first day of release making it one of the top five best first day DVD releases over the past two years.

Finally – some casting information! I’m really happy to hear that all of the reported actors are going to be a part of the wolf pack, because I really liked all of them. Now, all we need is some Volturi casting information!

What do you think of this news? Are you happy or less-than-happy that this news was confirmed? Are you excited that we’re finally getting some casting information?

Yay! I’m happy with their choices. We still don’t know Emily though, right?

  • XxBellaxX

I still think Solomon Trimble should be Sam and Krys Ivory should be Embrey. Other than that the cast is fine to me.

  • bebe

i am following summit to cast the wolf, they were always doing good job on casting, so good luck and welcome to the twilight world to the wolfpack…

  • AllisCullen

    This is awesome.

But, there are still SO MANY that we don’t know, yet!!!

    AHHHH

  • wanttobeinforks

Glad to see that they picked actors who are native americans. I am a Oneida tribe member (through my father) and hoped that they wouldn’t try to substitute some other ethnicity. Now if they could only find a part for a 37 yr-old “mom” in the script I would be there in an instant.

  • Marcia

I agree with XxBellaxX: Solomon Trimble should be Sam.

  • asmartgirl

Ok enough with how should be hwho remeber how everyone hated rob

  • Ecgirl71

I think the cast looks great. We still need to know who is going to be the Volturi though as they are towards the end when they go and save Edward. I hope they finish soon.

  • kijo921

    Hey ‘wanttobeinforks’,
Why couldn’t you be ‘Sue Clearwater’ in the movie? Although, like Seth and Leah, she doesn’t have much of a part in New Moon. You should send in your info and a pic for the casting of Eclipse. We see Sue Clearwater more in Eclipse and then in Breaking Dawn. I smell a casting coming on…… ??? LOL!!!! Go for it!

  • cullenism1

I wonder who will be playing leah. She was in new moon right? I have read the books 4 times and just cant remember LOL

  • Peace_is_Key

WHERE IS SETH? OR LEAH!?! These people are REALLY important??!?!!!?!

  • spiritblue

..the best thing about the ” new ” wolves…is that they are unknowns…they will become jacobs friends and pack in our hearts and in our minds….. i can’ wait to see new moon on the big screen.. ;o)

  • ~Edward’s Girl~

I think the new cast of the wolves is great. I think that they will bring all the action alive! (not that Robert didnt do that in Twilight) but ya know what i mean!!! I think that Seth should be featured in this movie as well….i like that wolf!!! :) ) Oh and Leah…im so excited to see who the Volturi will be!!! I am absolutely obsessed with the saga/series!!! If there is any information on casting calls for any more of the Twilight movies please email me!!!

  • ISufferFromOCD

QUILEUTE DAYS WILL FEATURE TWILIGHT ACTOR SOLOMON TRIMBLE

TWILIGHT actor, Solomon Trimble, who portrayed Sam Uley in Stephanie Meyers mega- hit, will be the special guest of The Quileute Nation of La Push, WA during their annual Quileute Days celebration July 17-19 2009.

Solomon Trimble (Mescalero Apache, Lakota) has been a traditional Native American Grass Dancer since the age of 3. Twilight was his cinematic debut.

He served as a cultural consultant for a few films by Oregon Public Broadcasting in association with PBS.

    Stephanie Meyers comments about Solomon:
“It was pretty amazing. I looked up and did a double take. “Arent you…Sam?” I asked. Solomon laughed and agreed that he was. He had a couple of technical werewolf questions for me (ex. “Can werewolves phase underwater?” Answer: Yes) and I tried to control my enthusing. Solomon was super friendly and interesting, and though he looks awesome on film, hes even more incredible in person. His features are just so stunning!”

Twilight fans are encouraged to attend and enjoy a photo op with Solomon Trimble on First Beach!

The Quileute Tribe extends a cordial welcome to all to join them for their celebration of cultural heritage and modern lifestyle. Guests will enjoy a traditional Salmon bake, Quileute arts and crafts, dancing and songs, adult and youth softball tournaments, parade and a fireworks display.
