SUMMIT ENTERTAINMENT UPDATE

Summit has sent out a new announcement about Catherine
 

As most of you have already heard, Catherine Hardwicke will not be returning to direct NEW MOON.

Summit and Catherine worked hard to make schedules work, but ultimately the decision to bring the fans the next chapter as soon as possible would not fit with Catherine’s schedule.

We will miss Catherine’s involvement, but please know that Summit and Stephenie Meyer will make sure the next director to take the reins will have the same devotion and respect for the property and the fans.

It is our priority at Summit to make sure the TWILIGHT saga proceeds with the fans in mind.

We appreciate the overwhelming support you have given us, and look forward to working with you on NEW MOON.

There is a rumor that New Moon and Eclipse will be filmed back to back, but I’m pretty sure Summit has not confirmed that yet.

    i can’t wait to find out who’ll be taking over for Catherine.

    She’s a visionary but i don’t feel she really gave Twilight it’s due quality. i’m sure there were factors involved

    let’s see who’ll be brave enough to fill in her shoes.
    he/she better be prepared to feel overwhelmed with the high expectations!

    I agree with kerri and goldie007 100% I thought the main problems with Twilight was the script. Don’t get me wrong, I loved the movie, but the script could’ve been much better. I’ve said it before, Why don’t they just go to the source and ask Stephenie herself to do it. From what I’ve heard she’s available right now. Who would do the script more justice than Stephenie. Also, if she did it, it might get her in the mode to finish MS. It’s a win win, don’t you think.

    I agree with the comments about replacing Melissa Rosenberg. Catherine directed Rosenberg’s screenplay, not Stephenie’s book. I still think Catherine could have done a better job directing, but it’s the script we see come to life on the screen. It would be awesome if Stephenie wrote the screenplay, but I’m not sure if she would be able to condense her book into a two hour movie, or if she’d even want to.

    That really sucks!!! I loved Twilight, and a new director will mean a different “feel” for the other movies. It’s like doing the sequels with Rob Pattinson or Kristen Stewart. Really unhappy about this. It’s too bad they didn’t think to lock everyone in before even doing Twilight.

    While I still LOVED the movie..I dont think Catherine did such a great job and niether did the screenwriter..They should get a new screenwriter as well.

    well i am mad but hopefull tht they will chose someone tht really cares about eveything they way Catherine did
