SUMMIT OFFICIALLY ANNOUNCES NEW MOON MOVIE

Summit Entertainment announced today that the studio is officially moving forward with the production of NEW MOON, the second installment of its filmed franchise TWILIGHT, the action-packed, modern day vampire love story. The movie will be based on the second novel in author Stephenie Meyer’s “Twilight” series titled, “New Moon.” The first movie in the TWILIGHT franchise, the self-titled TWILIGHT, arrived in theaters this weekend to sold-out showings.Stephenie Meyer stated, “I don’t think any other author has had a more positive experience with the makers of her movie adaptation than I have had with Summit Entertainment. I’m thrilled to have the chance to work with them again on NEW MOON.”

Wow, wow, wow. I know I shouldn’t be excited because I expected this to happen, but I still want to scream. Twilight had it’s ups and downs, but I have faith that with a more appropriate budget, New Moon will be amazing.

I’m seriously looking forward to New Moon. I really really enjoyed Twilight and I’ve enjoyed them so much (and my boyfriend too! His name is Edward, btw. lol) that I’m going to see it again tonight as I saw it at midnight on Friday. The boyfriend never showed so much interested in alot of the things I like and on the way home from the movie at 2:30am, He asked me about the rest of the series.
So he looks forward to it as much as me!! THANKS SUMMIT!!!

I just got the e-mail and i came to check if you posted it! I think that New Moon will be great! Kristen is great at playing parts like Bella in New Moon. I am a little afraid about Jacob though, I am not crazy about Taylor…But I am so glad it is being made, so, it will hopefully be out in a year right!!I liked twilight alot but NM will be better!

I have been a fan of the books since the beginning, I wasn’t expecting “Twilight” the movie to be that great b/c book-to-screen rarely are. I was pleasently suprised! I loved the movie and thought it was wonderfully made! I’m so excited that “New Moon” is being picked up and I hope “Eclipse” and “Breaking Dawn” will be too. I am worried about how they will do “New Moon” since Edward isn’t in it as much….how will they keep Robert’s attention?

Wow, just shed a few tears of joy. I’m so stoked about New Moon. Even now as I’m entering this message I’m thinking about how I could score a flight out to the set to see some of the filming action - AND I DO NOT FLY, I’m terrified of planes. So, those TA’ers among us that are apprehensive of Jacobs big role in New Moon, may I please offer some calming effects? I truly think Taylor did a fantastic job as Jacob, he really did bring sunshine to the screen, so innocent and best friend like - I loved how she nearly plowed him with the truck door when he and Billy bring it over. I was really concerned about his role because in every still I saw of Taylor donning that hideous wig, I laughed out loud but it didn’t look so bad on screen, more natural, I’m glad he cuts it in New Moon so he’ll look better. Now they just have to start hanging Taylor by his ankles with weights to start stretching him so he’ll grow. Everybody scream, “Thank you Summit, we love you too”
I am so thrilled to see the 1st day was so GREAT that Summit made the decision right then to go ahead and film New Moon. Can’t wait, ok the next count down begins! Next year, November or Dec 2009 maybe we’ll all be having the same kind of fantasy and seeing New Moon. It will be so great! Twilight was exceptional and with Summit behind New Moon, it will be just as AWESOME! WOW, I am thankful that Stephenie allowed them to make her books into movies! I have seen Twilight twice and we plan to go see it again today after my 8 yrs old birthday party! Summit Entertainment–You Rock!

SUMMIT, PLEASE REDEEM YOURSELVES. You owe Rob, Kristen, the fans, and especially Stephanie BIG TIME. PLEASE get a new director and a new writer!!! PLEASE!!! Hardwicke and Rosenberg have not given the first one justice. It’s clearly not just a budget issue. Note to all: If they mess up New Moon as well please don’t support the movie. I absolutely loved Twilight and I’m sure I will love New Moon, now New Moon wasn’t my favorite book, too much about Jacob, good guy but… anyways, still can’t wait!!!
I loved Twilight. I thought they did a great job bringing the book to life. I didn’t really see any problems with it. Of course they couldn’t fit it all in, but the acting was great and the characters personalities and characteristics were able to shine through.
I’m so excited about New Moon. The first part is definitely agonizing without Edward around, but it just makes the anticipation for his return more intense. I think Taylor will do great as Jacob.

thank goodness! I’m so happy it is doing well- but seriously, they need a bigger budget for new moon! Even though everyone rushed to see twilight myself included- the reviews have been mixed at best and that’s mainly because everyone complained about the cheesy special effects. As this film is the nonreader’s intro to twilight, they may be turned off and not bother with new moon. I guess I’m getting ahead of myself, but I want definitely want to see eclipse get made :lol
I REALLY HOPE THEY PUT SOME GOOD DIALOGUE FROM THE TWILIGHT BOOK IN TO THE NEW MOON MOVIE, BECAUSE THEY MISSED ALOT OF STUFF IN THE TWILIGHT MOVIE. THE CUTE EDWARD QUOTES SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN THE FIRST MOVIE, BUT - REALLY - THEY CAN FIX THIS - THEY JUST NEED TO PUT MORE DIALOGUE IN THE SECOND MOVIE, I RRRREALLY HOPE THEY DO THIS. Yes, Marie, I’m sure twilight is fine for an 11 year old, my litte sister is 7 and she LOVED the movie. But who could blame her it was AWESOME! TEAM EDWARD CAUSE JACOB DOES NOT SPARKLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I TOTALLY AGREE WITH TINA! I loved the book and the movie was NOT as good as it could have been. Rob and Kristen did the best they could but the script was so stripped down and the director was all over the place. My other Twi-Mom friends were so disappointed in the lack of emotional build up of the Edward and Bella relationship. Where was the undying love and passion???? Why did they never say “I love you”? He never hummed the lullaby to her her rarely stroked her face with his hand. The love story was the WHOLE POINT!!! Please Summit don’t let us down again. I was pretty devastated.

I saw TWILIGHT last night and this was the second time that I died this week!-IN A GOOD WAY! I died first at the premiere, but this death certainly tops the other one! I AM UNBELIEVEABLY EXCITED FOR NEW MOON!!!!!! I would really appreciate if anyone has any news about casting calls, because I would love to play Leah, or even just to be cast as an extra. Either way, I would be ecstatic to be a part of something that already means so much to me!!!!!!!!!!!

Yay! I wasn’t exactly disappointed in Twilight, just unsatisified. I was fine with everything they put into the movie, yet felt that more time needed to be spent on some very important scenes from the book. However, I’m understanding that this might be because they had a limited budget. I think that with a larger budget, New Moon could be amazing.
I’m SO happy with Summit’s decision to make NM.

Tina and TwiMom, Please Please chillax babies. Remember that any book to film adaptation is always a bit of a disappointment. AND remember that Sweet Melissa worked directly with our Queen Stephenie to condense 500+ pages into 2 hours of screen time. I am a DIEHARD Twilighter myself so I was equally disappointed not to see and hear some of the more fantastic parts but I knew going in that this was an adaptation of the book. The whole idea is that people leave the theatre going, “let’s stop by the bookstore and pick up a copy of the book so I can get more details”. Anybody else remember Stephs interview where she said those exact words?

) and thought it was pretty good. I was disappointed with the meadow scene and some of the little things that were missed..I understand there’s a time limit and you cannot capture the emotion on the big screen. I never think that movies are better than the actual book, there’s so much more detail in books…BUT…I still thought it was good! Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart did an AMAZING job! I agree….with a bigger budget, I think “New Moon” will be better…at least the ending will be. I wasn’t much of a fan with Jacob being in it so much…Hopefully this means that there will be an “Eclipse” and “Breaking Dawn” movie!!!

I am so so so so so excited!!! I can’t wait for it!!! I saw Twilight last night and I loved it and I saw it again today and I am going to see it again next weekend!!! I don’t understand why people think that it was bad. You knew that they could make it exactly like the book but the did a good job with getting things in. Of coures I would want New Moon to be made into a movie! I wish Edward would be able to be in it more though. I already pictured it in my head how it can be switched over to Edward. Not to say any lines or anything, just to show what he’s doing. I just don’t want to be disapointed again.
Congratulations to Summit for announcing New Moon’s upcoming production. I have had the opportunity to view Twilight and have been impressed with the great cast and acting. The scenic shots of the area were breathtaking. Kristen and Robert are perfect and do an excellent job portaying Stephenie’s characters. I do hope Summit choses a different director and some better film editors as the film was so chopped up it appeared that that staff had not read the book(s) and did not understand the sequence of the story. People who had not read the books first were confused by the action and even I (have read the whole series four times) was flabbergasted by some of the inconsistencies in the action. This is a great series of stories and they should be filmed that way.

And, I happen to like Taylor as Jacob-I don’t think the chemistry was there with Kristen yet, but they can work on that. Taylor wasn’t in it enough really to tell if the chemisty will be there or not. But I liked the way he played Jacob and don’t want him recast. Twilight would have been much better if it was longer, so I hope for at least 2 and half or 2 and 15 min.
Four of us went to the midnight showing and when we got there the movie was sold out and the line for seats was around the building by 10pm. Luckily we had purchased our tickets in advance. The books were all amazing and we didn’t expect the movie to be as close to the books as it was. My daughter and I were looking forward to the movie but as movies are never as good as the books, we didn’t expect much. We were very pleasantly surprised. Robert P. did an excellant job as Edward and Kristen was a perfect Bella. They were so into character that you could actually feel like they were those characters. I thought the movie wass wonderful and I don’t understand the bad reviews at all. You cannot expect a two hour movie to have everything in it that a book which may, if you haven’t got a job or school, to take at least a whole day. My daughter and I plan on going to see it again. We thoroughly enjoyed it.
I have to say, I had some issues with the movie. I love RP and KS as Edward and Bella, but the entire movie just seemed so rushed. They barely even talked to one another. Instead there were close-ups on trees and eyes the entire movie. And apart from one steamy make out session (unbelievable…buy it when it comes out on DVD-unbelievable..wow) they were rarely together. Honestly, think about it. You see more trees then you do them. I do believe with a little time and a LITTLE MORE from the book that number two will be amazing.. I may be twenty and a little older then most of the readers…but I am a twi-hard forever.

I had those same feelings Chrissy but can you imagine how disappointed most of us would be if we’re disappointed at the rushing of Twilight now, what would 2 books condensed into 2 hours be like? In another comment blog someone posted that one of the most important scenes in the book was completely shattered; the meadow. I agree and that was the one thing I was SO looking forward to but they’d moved things around so much to help NON-readers understand the story better that they couldn’t play the meadow as written. It was more beautiful on paper as is with any book to movie. But I still want to see it again, and again. Already looking forward to the DVD so I can see all the deleted scenes, what do think, will it be out by Valentines Day? Considering that I haven’t had chocolate since April, I’d rather have the DVD for Valentines Day.

I am excited to hear that Summit Entertainment gave the go ahead to start New Moon. I haven’t had the pleasure of viewing Twilight yet, I’m going tomorrow to see it. I would like Summit to make all the sequels, as Stephenie wrote this special love story so we can see where Bella & Edward’s romance reaches the end of its journey.

I’ll pitch in a few bucks to make the next one better. Twilight was a really decen “made for tv movie” at best. From no special effects (barely saw the sparkles on Edwards face) to the (just speed up the camera to make Edward run fast).They should be embarrased. Have they ever seen a Harry Potter Film? Twilight was amateur hour. By the way, Kristen Stewart should maybe read the books for homework before New Moon, then maybe she can actually portray Bella the right way.

I thought the movie was great, considering the film company was a low budget company, I think anyone here making disresectful comments should really consider the source of things and think about the book and how these people tried to make the book come alive in film. That is a very hard thing to do especially when most of the things that happen in the book are very unrealistic.
wow. i have to say that some ppl said that kristen wasnt a good actress but i totally dont believe that. for a girl who loved edward but was confused and dull in the begining. i thought that was how she was in the book aswell. the baseball part was the best! New Moon should be great. the only downfall will be how long they take to make the rest of the series.

I think books are ALWAYS better than the movies, seeing that we can read the details and picture the scenes in our own imaginations, which makes it all the more exciting and interesting. I may not be one of those fans that has been waiting since the books first came out, but I am DEFINITELY a HUGE TWILIGHT FAN. I did feel like the movie was rushed, but considering the fact that they had a limited budget, it was pretty good. Am I alone in thinking a few of the scenes seemed a little cheesy, as far as the acting? Maybe that’s just because it is so awkward between them (Bella and Edward) in the beginning of the story, and seeing it on film made it for everyone to see.

I am very excited! I hope with a better budget they can get some very cool special effects. They didn’t do too bad this time around, but the werewolf scenes are going to require some work. Also, they will have to cast the members of the Volturi…Ooooo scary! I can’t wait! I have faith in them. Plus they are getting a lot of feedback on Twilight about what people liked and didn’t like. I think they can fix the problems with a bigger budget though. Good luck guys!

I am scred for a sequel. It seems that in all movies made off of books the first one is exact and then they ruin the 2 one take narnia for example. lion wich and wardrobe totaly the same. And then prince caspian ws totaly difrent from the books. but i am excited i just DO NOT want it to be ruined!!!!

Twilight was good though disappointing, really. I love the books but am pretty objective when it comes to studying a film, and the film could have done way better. It’s true that you can’t plunge a large book in a two hour film, but come on, the script felt really amateur and the direction was very poor (i don’t mind the girls’ credentials, I focus on the result). I will be looking forward to seeing New Moon in 2009, but I’m also hoping Melissa R. and Catherine H. are replaced for better people. It will be good for the fans and for the business.

OMG!!! i wasnt that interseted in the series till i heard like everyone at school talking about it then i went and seen the movie and instantly fell in love with the whole thing. so my mom bought me the first book and i read it in a day i couldnt put it down. so im proud to say that i have been “converted” into a twilight addict! Cant wait till new moon hits the theatres!!

I thought the movie was amazing. I can’t comprehend comments like “make the next screenplay better” and “maybe they can redeem themselves”. I read the book after I saw the movie and actually prefer the movie over the book. I think Stephenie Meyer is an incredible author and i’m looking forward to reading the rest of the series and I can’t wait for the next movie. Fantastic story, breathtaking scenery, incredible cast. By far the best movie i’ve seen in a very long time!!!

i can say that twilight is just “OK”. For New Moon movie, i’ll be waiting for it but they have to make sure that it will make me cry when Bella and Edward break up. The best book for me is breaking dawn. But I still have to wait for years before they can finish new moon, eclipse and at last breaking dawn..

I’m really excited about New Moon! I had my doubts about the Twilight movie because I knew they would just never be able to keep up with the awesomeness of the actual books. But the cast did a much better job than expected and I actually loved it (I still think they have the wrong Bella, but that’s just one opinion). I am without doubt the biggest and most critical Twilight girl in the universe, but despite that Summit did an awesome job with the first, so the second should be phenomenal
OME! This is AMAZING!! I really LOVED twilight the movie (and ofcourse the entire series)&& i cn’t believe they’re making NEW MOON!… I hope that with the big budget they have now they won’t have t cut anything from the book, because i was really disapointed when i didn’t see carlisle’s story =C…anyways i’m still excited! i’m so excited that new moon is going to be made. in my school no one was a big fan of it but my friend was and she never stopped going on about the movie being which i was completely oblivious to to be frank. she encouraged me to go see it and i loved it! i love romantic films with an edge of danger
i read twilight after i saw it and got so into it. i think kristen and robert played there parts AMZINGLY!. i started to read new moon and was a bit pissed that edward leaves for like the middle of the story 
that means robert pattinson wont be in it the whole time ! BUMMER ! but i rekon its going to be a really good magical film! i’m so going to the premier in london when it happens

i’m glad that they’re making New Moon though i have to say the writer and director of Twilight didn’t really bring the emotion into the movie that was in the book. i hope new moon will be as big a hit as Twilight even though Edward does ditch Bella but i guess he has his reasons. I enjoyed Twilight, although I do agree with certain comments, they could have done better. And before people start arguing how could they put a 500 page book in 2 hours, think about this, there shouldn’t have been a specific time frame, they could have made it 3 hours if they wanted(take Lord of the Ring for example) and put all of the important details in it. They have a new Direction for New Moon(Chris Weitz) and he’s done other movies before, he’s experienced, so I think he’ll do really good. And the have a bigger budget for the movie. New Moon should be great, and I think Taylor is the perfect Jacob(they’re not replacing him, just adding digital stuff for all his growing, ect. ect.) and they already have the perfect Bella. I hope they make this movie phenominal, which they should. This filming is to start in March so I’ve heard and I can’t wait to watch it.

OMG i read the storyline and was immediatly hooked i’m a total romance and supernatural freak so i saw the movie bought the first 2 books Twilight and New Moon and i loved them i honostly read them both in 2 days time loved them so much but i have to agree that the best lines from Twilight (book) were not in the movie they keep u thrilled for more at all times but they’re not all in the movie that’s a pitty i will be waiting for New Moon to come out and will be the first one in line for it

Being the romantic that i am,as soon as i started to read twilight i got addicted immedietly!after reading all four books i realized that i cant look at other books the same;i dont find other books as interestingg.i literally started getting teary eyed while reading breaking dawn&;the passion between bella&;edward is phenominal.Even though its gona take some time for new moon to go into theatres i am VERY much excited
