TA FOLLOWS THE STARS: TAYLOR THE ACTION STAR AND A SUNDANCE UPDATE

Posted December 5th, 2009 By: Evie 3 Comments »

We have another great TA Follows the Stars for you this morning. First we have word that Taylor Lautner is going to be picking up a great action role as Max Steel. Then we have Kristen Stewart, Dakota Fanning and Ashley Greene all with movies headed to the Sundance Film Festival. Check out more below:

First, Taylor Lautner is said to be taking the lead as Max Steel:

Paramount has confirmed to me exclusively that it’s hired 8-pack-abs Taylor Lautner for the lead in Max Steel, instantly creating perhaps the next young big action star. (The Twilight Saga phenom is only 17 years old, and the Summit Entertainment folks predicted to me a year ago that he’d end up in demand for this kind of role after he bulked up for New Moon.) This is the Joe Roth-produced project based on the hugely successful Mattel property that’s an international bestseller. The movie will receive a major push planned as Mattel raises its stateside presence with the Paramount release. I’m told Max Steel will be a four-quadrant popcorn movie in the spirit of Iron Man about a 19-year-old extreme sports junkie recruited by a secret agency after an accident infects his body, leaving him with superhuman powers.

The Runaways will be shown at the Sundance Film Festival as part of the non-competition line-up:

On Thursday, December 3, Sundance Institute has announced movies which are included on the non-competition line-up of the 26th Sundance Film Festival. Among the list, there are “The Runaways”, a biopic starring Dakota Fanning and Kristen Stewart.

Welcome To The Rileys starring Kristen Stewart has been entered at the Sundance Film Festival in the US Dramatic Competition category:

One film sure to make a splash at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival, whether it is liked or not, is Jake Scott’s Welcome to the Rileys starring James Gandolfini, Kristen Stewart and Melissa Leo and I have your first five looks at the film. Yes, it’s because it stars the Twilight star Kristen Stewart, but it’s the role she is playing that is going to attract watchful eyes.

Stewart plays a lap dancer and prostitute in the film, which follows a damaged man (Gandolfini) who seeks salvation while on a business trip to New Orleans. Salvation is apparently sought by caring for Stewart’s character, Mallory, a troubled young woman. Gandolfini’s character and his wife (Leo) were driven apart by grief after losing their daughter.

Ashley Greene’s Skateland has also been entered at the Sundance Film Festival in the US Dramatic Competition category:

Skateland (Director: Anthony Burns; Screenwriters: Anthony Burns, Brandon Freeman, Heath Freeman)—In the early 1980s, in small-town Texas, dramatic events force a 19-year-old skating rink manager to look at his life in a very new way. Cast: Shiloh Fernandez, Ashley Greene, Heath Freeman, Taylor Handley, AJ Buckley, Haley Ramm. World Premiere

I’m excited to see these movies that will be shown at the Sundance Film Festival! And Go Taylor!

What do you think of Taylor as Max Steel? Are you going to see The Runaways, Welcome To The Rileys or Skateland?

Im excited to see all these movies too! Kristen looks like she would have to be a really amazing actor to play Bella Swan and then go to Mallory’s character.
Im surprised Summer’s Blood and How To Be and The Haunted Airman arent up there. But im only saying this coz i saw them in Civic last night, and so thats prolly the reason- because theyre already released. But Ashley looks so CREEPY on the poster for Summer’s Blood. totally look at it

Ok, let me get out something that will seem mean, but really isn’t:
Kristen will probably do better in Welcome To The Rileys than Twilight and New Moon.
Now, I’m not saying I see her as a prostatute, but her flat-emotion characteristics would fit better with a character like that than say, Bella Swan, 18, living the good life, making JOKES and maybe even LAUGHING AND SMILING sometimes.

of course I’m gonna watch Max Steel; TAYLOR’S IN IT!
I ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ him. If he was telling the weather, i’d watch it.

LOL. Inkblood, I’m w/you. Her flat affect and numb way of “acting” (shudders to even use that term around Kristen…she’s so bad at it) will likely prove well in that prostitute movie. I MAY see Ashley’s movie…I’m honestly more excited to Anna Kendrick’s movie, “Up in the Air”.
