TAer Jessica writes in about her experience at the Twilight convention that took place in Dallas, Texas two weekends ago; better known as TwiCon.

A Fan’s Experience at TwiCon By: Jessica

Twicon started out in a way that set up the expectation for the weekend: there was going to be a lot of waiting. And there was – we waited to sign in, we waited to meet different acts, we waited to get into every room, the only place we didn’t have to wait was to get into our car to leave on Sunday! The thing about waiting is this, there are two ways to do it – one way is to gripe about it all and create drama with those around you (which happened more than I care to know about) or, you can use the time to make new friends (which is exactly what I did) who will laugh when you joke for the hundredth time that we must, “Hurry up and wait!”.

Beyond the waiting, the event was amazing! It all seemed to go by so fast as well as so incredibly slowly. There was so much to do, that we were constantly entertained. We met the 100 Monkeys on Friday morning and got their autographs. We were, for about 5 minutes, promised that Jackson was going to join his band mates before the Twicon folks took that back. It was okay though, we got to purchase tickets to their concert at the Palladium where we were able to meet the entire band once again and do autographs. The band is amazing, they are all so humble and sweet and genuinely funny. I think that they were my favorite part of the whole event.

A close second would be the Hillywood show cast. They are complete professionals. There was a moment before the Q&A session where a Twicon staff member was arguing that Hillywood needed to leave the area and get backstage, and the girls were very calmly explaining that they do this all the time and when it was time, they would be on their marks. They even offered up help and assistance if the Twicon organizers needed it at any time. It’s too bad they didn’t take them up on it. They were so efficient that even though they had a huge line of people waiting for autographs and photo ops, I only waited for about 3 minutes to get to meet them. They were very gracious and really were there to make it fun for the fans.
