TA TALKS BACK: ARE TWILIGHTERS BEING TOO HARSH ON BRYCE DALLAS HOWARD?
For today’s TA Talks Back, TAer Rebecca writes in about a heated topic: the replacement of Rachelle Lefevre as Victoria in Eclipse. She breaks down the details of the replacement and wonders if Twilighters are being too harsh on Bryce Dallas Howard.
We’ve all heard about Bryce Dallas Howard replacing Rachelle Lefevre in ‘The Twilight Saga: Eclipse’, but are the Twilighters being too harsh on Bryce?A lot of the Twilight online universe has turned against Bryce Dallas Howard for replacing Rachelle Lefevre and has vowed not to see the movie, but is it really Bryce’s fault? Did she have a personal vendetta against Rachelle Lefevre that made her want to take over as the character, Victoria?
Some are saying that Rachelle IS Victoria, but we’ve only seen her with a small part in ‘Twilight’ and we have yet to see her as Victoria in ‘New Moon’. Is Rachelle really Victoria or is it that the Twilighters don’t like the change and has nothing to do with which actress portrays Victoria?

rachelle is victoria we have gotten use to her she has also portrayed victoria wonderfully n you cant just change for her last portrayal of the character. umm cathrine has said dat they had bryce in mind for victoria first but since she saw the rule too small she didnt take it and next was rachelle…now that twilight is a huge thing she wants in..dat seems cheesy to me…but i also thing instead of being so harsh to bryce take it out on summit they r the ones dat chose this decision u cant really blame bryce…IT ALL SUMMIT.
When I think of Victoria I picture Rachelle not Bryce. I have nothing against her as a person but she just isn’t MY Victoria. Won’t stop me from seeing the movie though.
I’ve read a lot of stuff about what happen in this story and to me while i do like Rachelle i never really envisioned her as Victoria. Yes she was great in twilight dont get me wrong but to be honest her part wasnt very big. Again it wasnt suppose to be so she did with the part what she could and she was really scary especially her voice. Of course i’ve only seen the trailer of new moon and she looked pretty good in the second trailer looked pretty big. So it looked like she will have more to do but again after reading the facts of what happen between and summit. I have to say that summit sounds like there being fair and to me ounce you sign up for a movie like twilight you have to be totally committed to it. So the fact that she signed up for this so called other movie makes me think that she wasn’t very committed. So of course if i’m right about then summit was only doing what they thought they had to do. Cause if you think about it if Rachel really wanted to do eclipse then she should have cleared her schedule. Anyway thats just my opinion and you guys can agree or disagree it really doesnt matter.
I agree with Kim. It’s the reason that there is some hostile feelings towards Bryce. Plus, come on! Does anyone REALLY enjoy having a character change in the middle of a series? No. No one really thinks it’s just fantastic. So I don’t think we’re being too harsh on her or more of the decision of Rachelle being replaced.
I will still see Eclipse, of course… and I hope Bryce does a good job… but it will still bug the hell out of me that it’s a different actress… and even though Rachelle had a very small role in Twilight, and we have yet to see how she does in New Moon… we’ve fallen in love with her through her interviews. We’ve already connected to her and identified her as our Victoria… so it boggles my mind why you’d think we’re somehow incorrect in our reaction to this change or our feelings towards Bryce…
ESPECIALLY… again with what Kim said… Bryce felt the role BENEATH her. Sure, sure… you can say, “It was her right to refuse” or some crap about how you can understand why she wouldn’t want a small role, what with her being such a BIG STAR AND ALL (whatever)… but it just does not bode well with a good portion of us fans… I know some feel differently, hate Rachelle and all that crap… but most, by the looks of things, share my opinion.

rachelle was terrible as victoria, lets face it. Victoria was supposed to be incredibly scary, the source of many nightmares for bella and the face that awoke her in the middle of the night so many times. Rachelle on the other hand was not scary at all, she was the nicest looking vampire i’ve ever seen. alice looked scarier than her. it wouldn’t be believable to keep her as victoria, at all.
When i read the twilight saga i picture Rachelle as Victoria, but i dont think we should be taking it out on Bryce as much as i dont want her in the film i think we should be taking it out on Summit.

how Bella described Victoria’s fire red hair and everything! Rachelle IS Victoria and always will be!
i don’t blam Bryce for taking the role of Victoria b/c its not really her fault but i do blame Summit!

I dont think that we are being hard on Bryce (grrr) but thats just how it apears to be. Really we are blaming Summit for making a HUGE mistake. Thats right Summit, HUGE MISTAKE!!!!! Rachelle matched what I, and a lot of other twilighters belived Victoria looked like. She was so scary but in a mysterious kind of way, like how she carried herself, because if you looked at her in like a picture you would think “wow shes not scary!” and then you see her in the film and its like BAMM! and it hits you, she really is frightening. And i think that its stupid people wont see the film because Bryce is in it. I’m still gonna see it! I wouldnt miss it just because they changed the actor for Victoria, but if it was like Edward or any of the Cullens (bella included), or Jacob, then I would seriusly consider not seeing it.
BUT HEYY, AT LEAST SHE DIES IN THE MOVIE…. you wont have to deal with it any longer.
I am glad that Rebecca wrote this article. Everytime there is a change some Twilighters get all upset. I mean first they hated Rob b/c he was cast has Edward. Now they love him (that being a understatement). They hated Chris b/c he replaced Cathrine. Now he is beyond awesome. Now we are doing this all over again. LIGHTEN UP PEOPLE!!! I was always against this Knee-jerk reaction of let’s all hate BDH. I mean I don’t know her work all that well but from what I have seen she is a good actress. Also, as mentioned by a previous poster, Victoria being replaced is not the worst cast replacement I can think of. I just think that people need to relax and let her work speak for itself.
Don’t get me wrong Rachelle was great as Victoria and Summit was bogus. But I am now thinking that we may see BDH as Victoria and say sucks that Rachelle was dumped but BDH was good.
Final note: So BDH was offered the role of Victoria for Twilight first well she was about to film a little movie called Terminator Salvation (I could be wrong, but I think this is true) if I was an actress I prob would have done the same. Twilight to most, including our “beloved” cast, was this little cult movie that could. No one knew how big this phenomenon would become.
I will definetly see the movie, but it does irritate me that Summit got pissed off for one mistake, and then replace her as Victoria when she has already been in the first two movies. Eclipse was her last movie. Couldn’t they have just dealt with her for one more movie? No, they had to piss off every Twilight fan out there just because they wanted a more well-known actress. I hate it when people make a sequel to something then change the people in it. But it won’t change whether I see the movie or not.
Wrong. Rachelle is Victoria. I, and a lot of other people, only read Twilight and the following books AFTER the movie was released. We already saw her as Victoria, and that’s who we imagined when READING anything with her in it. We can’t imagine anyone else being her, because we’ve already accustomed ourselves to Rachelle. And no, we aren’t being too hard on Bryce. Because there was definitely a grand scheme to this whole thing. Ever wonder why we never heard about Rachelle being FIRED until it was done, and Bryce had the part? That’s because I really don’t believe that it was scheduling conflicts. It was because Summit wants Bryce’s daddy to direct a movie for them, and they’ll drop whoever they need to to get it. They’re taking advantage of Twilight fans, because they think we’re just stupid little teenagers who can’t do anything about it. But me and my friends, as well as probably a lot of other fans, have sworn not to see the movie. That will definitely bring their profit down some, then will we be just stupid teenagers? This is all because they want power, and think we aren’t obstacles. But we are.
Wow, I knew a lot of fans were pissed at Summit for what happened, but I didn’t know they were being harsh on Bryce too. I hate it when they change actors after you are already used to seeing someone else play a role, however, Rachelle really wasn’t in Twilight enough to make a big impact on me and she really isn’t supposed to be in New Moon that much either (then again, Edward isn’t supposed to be seen that much either and they changed that to make it work for the movie), so I am going to give Bryce a chance. I don’t think any of this was her fault, so no point in being harsh on her. She is just another actress trying to do her job and hopefully she does Victoria justice. I honestly pictured Bryce when reading the books anyway since I had never even heard of Rachelle before the movie came out.
We saw rachelle as victoria in twilight and she is in new moon. i picture her as victoria but that doesn’t mean we should be hard on bryce because she is going to be victoria now. anyways she isn’t in eclipse that much only in the fight so i don’t really mind it may be weird at first and i will miss rachelle but i can get used to bryce and she will only be in one film.
I kno we all see Rachelle as the only Victoria and it sucks completly tht theyy replaced her but i think we r kinda mad at her but she’s just a lady trying to make a living and this is just a ob for her. I think we’re all realmly upset with Summit and sort of taking it out on her.
i will miss rachelle as victoria.. i think bryce is a beauty….and i am sure she will do fine.. the only thing that really bothers me….i read that she was offered victoria originally for twilight and turned it down because it wasn’t ” big enough”…that made me laugh…if it is true..who know but who has ever heard of her…she was too good to be in twilight but now she isn’t.???? grin…
I haven’t seen anything with BDH, but she’s an actress and I’m sure she will do a good job. I think the thing is that we are used to seeing Rachelle and I know she was comitted. People are saying she signed on to do another movie. Well Rob and Kristen signed on to do something alse, so that’s BS. I personally don’t think that BDH can capture the intensity and passion the emotion coming into the 3rd film.
This is all new to me! People actually not watching the movie because of the role change. I think a good many people are lying. Hmm not watch New Moon jeez I don’t believe that for even a nano second. Besides I think Bryce is going to do a fabulous job. Sure she will look a heck a lot different. I figured I could just imagine Victoria being so mad about the death of her boyfriend that her angry changes her into a new vampire… a really pissed off Bryce Dallas Howard looking vamp. LOL
yes Kim is right this is the last chance that victor show on the scene and we cant just change her so suddenly!!! More sensible guys, all the people have already remembered Rachelle Lefevre as Victor cause she has already film most part of the Twilight Saga and the directer suddenly said we need to change!!! It can’t be accept!!! Someone might said we just don’t want to change but if Rachelle Lefevre is replaced at the first time I think no one will turn against Bryce Dallas Howard!!!
I think Bryce will bring lots more to the table!
Here’s the main reason I hate Bryce for replacing Rachelle. Before Twilight got big, it wasn’t a big enough movie for Bryce. Catherine H. said that the role originally went to Bryce first, but she didn’t want it. Well, now that Twilight has gotten huge, Bryce is riding on the fame coat tails. If she wasn’t good enough for the movie before, then the movie shouldn’t be good enough for her now. To me, it’s just not right of Bryce, and makes me think VERY little of her for this act of snobbery. Victoria is not “just another role”, and that’s how Bryce treated it before. I just don’t think she should get to be in this franchise when she already turned it down once. I’m going to see this movie still, but i will FOREVER hate Bryce and will never watch another one of her films, other than the Twilight ones, just because of this move. It really says alot about her character, which is obviously a SNOB.
