Ta fan EdwardCullensLamb poses the question Are you completely obsessed with Twilight (oh hale yes):

Are You Completely Obsessed With The Twilight Saga? BY EdwardCullensLamb

When you began reading Twilight did you think your life would be so greatly affected by these characters? How quickly did you realize you were hooked? Do You realize it Yet? How has this Twilight thing of ours affected your life?
I started reading Twilight after ordering it online. I really didn’t know much about the books and could not understand why there were so many people at the Square One Mall in Saugus Mass to see Robert Pattinson.

I knew he had been in Harry Potter and a couple other small roles, But What was the big deal about this movie?

As usual for me I had to find out. I got my 8 yr old daughter to bed and sat down to find out what all of the hysteria was about.

Needless to say to you all I found out rather quickly, But I didn’t think anything of the fact that I had started reading and did not stop. I stayed up all night and got my daughter off to school came home and continued reading. Still no clue. Once I finished twilight I realized I needed to keep reading (not wanted to needed to) I went to Barnes & Noble that night and bought not just New Moon but all of them; Eclipse & Breaking Dawn. I had to make sure that I could keep reading. So I did I kept reading and when I had to put the books down (which I really hated to do) I couldn’t wait to get back to it.

I am still not sure if I am obsessed or just really in love with these books. Now the movies as well. I have seen the movie several times and have read the books to many times to count, Every time my daughter sees a book in my hand she says “ mom your reading them again? Why? I don’t know what to say except because I want to.

For a 36 yr old mom I feel a little out of place. It seems like this story line was aimed towards the younger genre and here I am just as into it as they are. I am younger then my actual age (in my own defense). The Twilight Saga has definitely become a part of my everyday life in one way or another. Checking online for any new news about anything that has to do with Twilight , actors etc. joining Twilighters anonymous, Changing my Myspace & Facebook Pages. Does that make me obsessed ?I don’t know. I really don’t care one way or another. I thoroughly enjoy myself and am Glad I was so curious.

How About You? Did Twilight do the same for you? Or is it just another story line for you? Can you walk away and never look back?

I Can’t.

Talk Back to us….what do you think?

I’m 32 and right there with you. LOL Except I *know* I’m obsessed, there’s no question.

  • Clair de Lune

Well, as a 26 year old mom to a 9 year old, I have to admit what you said makes me feel a little more validated. I stood in line on my birthday for the movie, fell for the soundtrack, and now spend all day on TA, and writing fan fic… It’s nice to know I’m not alone. That being said. I picked up Twilight, a couple friends begged me to read it. After much hemmin and hawin’ I gave in got it, and before I had finished reading it had the next three books ordered. (oh my husband loved that!) I couldn’t get enough of them, even now I’m re-reading them for the fourth time. I make jokes that no one else gets because it’s in the book… It’s bad. That being said, I have to admit, it’s nice to know I’m not alone.

I will be 44 in a few days. I know I am obsessed. I have all the books, the DVD and the soundtrack. I have read the books so many times I’ve lost track.

I have always been a huge Harry Potter fan. Movies and Books. So much so that I actually have 2 Harry Potter Tattoos (DA & Micheif Managed). Some of the girls at my work were reading Twilight and they kept saying “Oh you have to read this book! You’ll love it!” But I kept refusing, because I felt if I loved Twilight more than Harry Potter, I would be betraying my roots. So finally one day i broke down and went to barnes & noble and bought Twilight. I went to work and showed it off to the girls, and let them know that i was going to go home and start reading it. I had a 4 day weekend that week. It was Halloween and I had no plans, except to watch the live episode of Ghost Hunters from 10-2am. Well, needless to say I started reading Twilight around 9pm and I was finished by the time Ghost Hunters was over. I didn’t move from my bed while i was reading, unless i absolutely had to. I was hooked, I couldn’t believe how badly I needed to read the next book, and how incredibly upset i was with myself for not buying New Moon at the time lol. So the next day I woke up and the first thing I did was go back to Barnes & Noble and bought New Moon and Eclipse. I finished those in 2 days, I wasn’t even finished with Eclipse and I went to buy Breaking Dawn. I was in love. With the books. With the characters. With Edward. So you ask, how has Twilight changed my life? It has become a part of my daily vocabulary. I seriously probably find any reason to talk about it. I actually converted 2 other people to twilightism (which is what i call it lol). I’ve already been to forks, and i own more merch than i ever thought i would about a Book.

i too, could never walk away.

    ugh. :)

  • TwilightAddiction

Im 34 and I know exactly how you feel. Now I have my friends hooked on the saga too. Each day we are online hunting down new photos from the filmsite, needing updated info on whats happening. You are definately not alone in your addiction.

  • may

i was exactly the same. i wanted to find out why it was so popular, so i bought twilight (the book obviously) last year, and when i was near the end of the book i just HAD to buy the other three books right away. i am pretty much obsessed now, but i love it, so i don’t even care.

  • mcullenvamp

Thank you to another woman my age obsessed with Twilight!
My 15 year old daughter told me last spring that I just had to read Twilight and when i picked it up I wouldn’t be able to put it down. Well, one day i was browsing Target, just wasting some time and thought I’d grab a book to read. I was recouping from knee surgery so I had plenty of “sit down” time. I grabbed Twilight and said “why not?” I remember sitting in the car outside of my physical therapy appointment waiting for my appointment time and i didn’t want to go inside! Even though i had been early, i ended up being late! When i talked to my daughter, she admitted that she hadn’t read the books yet, but her friends had! i quickly finished the 3 books (Breaking Dawn wasn’t out yet!) I read them twice through before Breaking Dawn came out, dragged my hubby to the midnight release of BD at Barnes and Noble! I got him into reading the books too! He even volunteered to schlep to the theater at midnight for the Twilight movie release and went to the theatre 5x more after that! He has truly indulged my Twilight obsession!

I now have submerged myself into complete Twilight insanity!! I have the Cullen Crest tattoed on my side, with “Twilight” on my wrist and the eclipse ribbon on my left shoulder. My license plates say “TMCULLEN” along with Twilight license plate frames and Twilight decals on two windows, and “i run with vampires” on the other one. I even tried to buy a jeep like Emmett’s but was unsuccessful! I’ve read the books a bunch of times, got them on my ipod so that I can read them all that much more, have all the playlists from Meyer’s website on my ipod and twilight skin on the ipod! And of course, like all of us addicts, I check the news on TA daily, several times a day…. and yes, i’ll be 36 in August! And i just found out recently that my 67 year old mother saw the movie and loved it! Last time I went over there, that’s all she wanted to talk about! (usually she doesn’t even speak to me! and she just babbled and asked a million questions, it was weird!)

and… i swear this is my last “and”… i had a little problem with a neighbor recently and after she jumped me and sent me down a flight of stairs, as I ran for help, she yelled after me “you twilight vampire cult freak!” if i was thinking more clearly i wouldve had to shout “thank you” back!

    YES I AM COMPLETELY OBSESSED

  • may

also.. i introduced 3 of my friends to the saga, told them to read it and they LOVE it. one of my friends is just as obsessed as me. we check the TA news blog everyday (i can’t even help it now, it’s like routine) and we own so much merch. like loads :l but i need to start saving for new moon now ahhhhhhhh!! i’m so excited. twilight never fails to make me happy lol.

  • Emma

I’m the same way I haven’t read any other book since I started reading them in November and I drive all my friends crazy because I never stop talking about or relating it to somthing they said.

  • Lynn

I am 33 and I love Twilight! I have introduced many of my friends to the books and sometimes all we do is sit around and talk about the books and how hot Edward Cullen (and Robert Pattinson) is. I have read the books 4 times all the way through and seen the movie a countless number of times – although I do admit I have to hide some of my infatuation from my husband, he just doesn’t get it! A friend recommended the series to me because she knows I like vampires, but I must say, I didn’t want to read it at first because it is for teens. I didn’t buy the books until after I fell in love with the movie. Then when the books came, I read all 4 in two days! Needless to say, I have yet to find any other books that will hold my interest like this series has!

  • Jessica

I am 24 and your story (except I have no children unless you count my husband LOL) sounds exactly like what happened to me. I was told time and time again to read them and finally borrowed one from a friend at work and I could not put them down. I had to order not one copy but two copies of the books (a hardback set for my bookcase and an extra set to carry around with me and get beat up in a purse). For a while I was ashamed at how old I was and loving the books but then I learned women of all ages love these books. I am also addicted to the TA website if I cannot check it at least 4 times a day I go crazy I also have al the movie merchandise (books, shirts, soundtracks, etc). But what I found I love is the way it has helped me connect with some of my friends and coworkers we now share inside jokes and text each other with twilight news it is so great.

  • Britt

I am 16 (I will be 17 on the 28th of April). I first heard about the book in my English class at school because a girl read for her novel study and did a little presentation for it. She talked about vampires so I was interested. Then I pretty much forgot all about it.

In the summer, I was on different websites like youtube and people were talking about it a lot and comparing it to Harry Potter. I am a hardcore fan of Harry Potter and since that book series is done, I wanted to get into something else. Plus I heard that there was going to be a movie so clearly, it was a big deal. I did a little online research about it and found out that Rob Pattinson was going to be in it and I recognized him as Cedric Diggory so that interested me and I recognized Kristen Stewart from the Messengers and Into The Wild.

So around late August, I went to Walmart to do back-to-school shopping and decided to look for the book and sure enough I found it. So I bought it and began reading it and thought it was pretty good. Then I went camping for a few days and forgot the book at home and I was sad… But I watched TV in my trailer and that’s how I found out that Midnight Sun was leaked. So I got home and continued where I left off. I even read more than usual to make up for the last few days of not reading. After that I only read a chapter a day so the enjoyment of reading it would last longer since there was only four books.

So I brought the book with me on the first day of school to read during class and then a few weeks later, I noticed a lot more people with the same book. I felt like I started a trend or something. It was weird. Anyways I started going on sites like these and looking up Rob because well… I’m pretty much in love with him (I mean HIM as ROB not just EDWARD) and so I got the rest of the books… and the movie companion… and an Edward bookmark… and the soundtrack… and a poster… and a magazine devoted to the movie… AND I saw the movie with my parents (I begged them every day until they brought me to the theatre)… and now I own the 3-disc DVD from HMV which includes a film cell. I also made a custom T-shirt at school in my communications technology class because I could not find any in Canada.

So yes I think I am completely obsessed…

  • http://mpackergirl4 Melissa

I am a 37 year old “obsessed” fan, I guess. It is really nice to know that I am not the only one! Rob Pattinson is amazing and I have completely fallen in lust with him. Thanks for showing there are others out there like me so I don’t feel like a total weirdo-just a partial one!

  • dee

I do not think it matters if you are if you are 19 or 39 (like me), we all want the same things. My friends love the books. What a terrific escape!

  • Jessica

I am 23 with an infant daughter. My husband is at sea with the Navy. Between playtime and eating time, I am at my computer reading and rereading the Twilight Saga with the soundtrack playing in my ears… The soundtrack draws me to the movie so I have to watch it. I know what minute and second to skip to if I just want to watch my favorite scenes (My number 1 is the baseball scene). If I’m not reading or watching the movie, I am on TA while listening to the soundtrack. I scan the entire world wide web for anything new about ‘Twilight’, the books, or the upcoming movie for ‘New Moon’ – pictures, updates, casting calls, even homemade trailers. My friends say I’m obsessed… I call it a hobby. Sounds better. But I know… I’m a twilight addict.

  • shannon

    Jess

  • Robin

I’m a 48 year old mom with a 10 year old daughter and it’s the same story. It’s really done wonders for my marriage and our love life! My husband has just finished Eclipse and I just got my first tattoo of a little vampire bat on my upper back. Viva la midlife!

  • mary

I am 26 years old and I love Twilight! I did the same thing bought the first book read through it really quick then had to buy the rest. I am a mom too. Im quite obsessed as well.. nothing wrong with enjoying a good book or 4 lol and some movies.

  • choirchick

I deny that I’m an obsessed fan. I’m also in the 30′s category and had a friend tell me that I had to read it. I went and stood in line to get the DVD, but only because the friend wanted company. I could have easily waited until later. The saga is not the best writing that I’ve seen but it has such a compelling story that I read the series in 4 days. I check here to keep up with the latest news, the same as I do with my beloved Harry Potter site, but I don’t go crazy if I don’t check on either one during the day. I watched the DVD a few times during the first week. Watched the extras, but haven’t watched it sense. I probably won’t watch it again until just before New Moon comes out. I keep up with the news so I can chat with my crazed friends, but I could take it or leave it at this point.

  • Melissa

39 and obsessed since Jan (had no clue at all before then). I’m married with 2 young boys, so I keep reminding myself that I’m way too old for Rob (sigh), and have already found my Edward, but that hasn’t kept me from obsessively reading the books and lots of Twilight fanfiction!

  • Tami

I will be 45 years old next month. I saw the movie while out of town on vacation. When I returned to work I found out about the books. I bought Twilight and could NOT put it down. This was a week after the movie opened. By Christmas I had read all the books and had started them over again by New Years. I have the audio books and am listening to them for the 2nd time on my way to & from work. I am obsessed past the point of no return. Everybody is tired of me talking about the books, movies, characters, Stephenie Meyers & anything to do with Twilight. I read everything I can EVERYDAY on the web & TA. I can hardly wait for New Moon. My favorite is Breaking Dawn. I have read the partial of Midnight Sun, and love it the most. I wish Stephenie would finish this book.

  • LovinEdward29

As a soon to be 30 year old, I am so glad to find out I’m not alone in my Twilight obsession. I too search the internet daily for news on Twilight and am counting the days til New Moon comes out in theatres. I read all 4 books in less than one month (I took my time and read slowly to enjoy them). I am getting ready to re-read them a second time. I have the Borders Special Edition DVD which has been watched COUNTLESS times and I have pre-ordered the blu-ray collectors edition from Amazon which comes out 5/5. I can’t wait for it – it comes with a charm bracelet, jewelry box, and other cool Twilight merchandise. My husband thinks I’ve lost my mind because I’m not an obsessive person, but I’m wrapped up in Twilight 24/7.

  • http://twilightersanonymous.com/ta-talks-back-are-you-obsessed-by-twilight-stephenie-meyer.html Pat

I am older than ALL of you. I can say in all honesty, I’ve read (literally) thousands of romances and never have read anything that had me hooked immediately the way this series has. I saw an episode of Doctor Who called the “The Shakespeare Code” and I remember the Doctor saying that there is “power in words”. As much as I love words/prose, I don’t think I ever truly understood until I read the Twilight Saga. I’ve become just as obssessed as my (much) younger counterparts. I too, keep re-reading and quoting all of the books, watching the movie and constantly surfing for more news.

  • kijo921

OK, the site lost my blog entry awhile ago because it was too busy. Maybe it’ll fly now… ok, here goes…

Last year, I had a student who encouraged me weekly to read these books. “You’ve got to read these books, Miss S!” she’d say. I would put her off politely and profess that nonfiction was my preferred genre of reading. So, she moved on to another school and we started a new school year. One of my colleagues then said, “You’ve got to read this!” I laughed at her for how quickly she became ‘obsessed’ with this world. I admitted though that I only laughed because I didn’t understand why she was wrapped up in it for I had not read the books! Oh, boy! Did the avalanche begin then…. I read them and I’ve been obsessed myself ever since!!!! It’s a sickness, I believe, a sickness I love!! Anyway, I found the student on myspace and let her know that I had read all the books and I loved them. I had to give her a “SEE, I told you so!” moment! She felt validated, I think! hahaha!

Btw, I am also a 30-something mother as well… it’s good to know that we’re all out there somewhere, and that we’re not the only crazies in this world….

  • NoMoats

I am so glad to know that I, as a mom in midlife, am not alone with my preoccupation with the Twilight series! My sister, who at 52 is older than me by 4 years, tried talking me into reading Twilight for two months – even giving me her copy of it to encourage me. Since we differ somewhat on what we like to read (she prefers the somewhat smutty romance novels) I put it off thinking it wouldn’t be good, as the first vampire series she told me to read was terrible! I couldn’t even get partway through book one, and I hate not finishing a book. Well anyway, my husband and I went on a short vacation in the beginning of March (I missed everything Twilight up to that point) and I wanted a relaxing book to read on the plane, so I picked up Twilight.
Relaxing to a point – Wow! In the 4 days of vacation, at the beach no less, I read the first three books. We had to go to Barnes and Noble for me to by the 2nd and 3rd books by day two. When I got home, I drove the next day up to my sisters and got book 4. A friend at work told me about Midnight Sun, so I read that as well. I was completely finished with the 5 books in a week, and that includes working more than full-time and taking a vacation.
It was more than incredible. When I was done reading it all, I felt like I was going through Cullen family withdrawal! I wanted more, so I went to see the movie that weekend. (very soon before it came out on DVD) We got there late, so I missed the great set up, but have seen it enough times now to make up for it.
I think it’s a beautiful love story and am so drawn to it for some reason. I wish I understood more about why that is, but I am sure enjoying it all and so looking forward to the next movie – new moon.

  • nadine

i am totally obsessed with twilight, and robert especially
ahaha but i can totally understand with my age lol
im younger butttttt he is dreamy so why shouldnt everyone be haha

  • Austen fan

I am a 50 year old mom of two college kids. I first discovered the series when my daughter persuaded me to stop and purchase the Twilight “books on CD” just as we were leaving to drop both my children off to college in New England. After twenty miles or so of driving I was hooked. We listened the whole way,(four hours or so-the drive never seemed so quick before!), and I couldn’t wait to get home to read the rest. Of course, I purchased my own copies since the kids took theirs to school, and I have read them multiple times. I tried to attribute this obcession to some midlife neurosis, but I know in my heart that “girl” in me who believed in romance has been there all along. Before Twilight, I was,(and still am), a huge Jane Austen fan. I have read her six books over and over. In addition, one of my favorite books is Jane Eyre, by Bronte. I know that this book must have been a huge influence on Stephenie Meyer, as well as the Austen’s books, because I see a lot of Edward Rochester and Mr. Darcy in Edward Cullen.I realized that whether it’s Elizabeth and Darcy, Jane and Edward, or Bella and Edward, romances between two unlikely people drawn together by some unexplicable force of nature under difficult circumstances,is the stuff that true love stories are made of.

  • darlenecullen

Well, my last name now is Cullen, I drive around with Edward, hanging in my car, on bookmarks, Twilight signs, on my car,I have an Edward shirt that sits next to me, on the passenger side of my car,and I don’t let anyone sit there because I tell them that seat is taken. Saw the movie in theaters 14 times, sleep with my little pocket Edward, and my Edward pillow case, and am on the 4th time reading the books. Nothing else compares to them. Also I have to have a fix of the movie at home, now, at least once a day. I guess this is “OUR own brand of heroin.”Love to You All!!!!

  • dewey

I am a mom in my mid 40′s and this article could have been written by me..my teenage daughter asks me the same question when she sees a book in my hand & just smiles & rolls her eyes…I am hooked, obsessed, totally immersed…use whatever phrase you can think of..I have read all 4 books several times, I loaned my copy of “Twilight” out and am just itching to get it back so I can start the series over again. I went to a local DVD release party at a Walmart at midnight while my kids stayed home asleep, I check internet & TA daily for news or updates, and finally I had never read a book for enjoyment (just in college) until the Twilight saga, now I’ve read them all several times, Midnight Sun online (several times), and now I’m always looking for an interesting book to read…

I love the so-called impossible love story between a normal, somewhat clumsy girl and a super-hunk, glamorous vampire. Counting the days until the next movie comes out…

“If I could dream at all, it would be about you. And I’m not ashamed of it.”
    -Edward Cullen

  • Twinkle

Exactly the same here! I’m 33, single, no kids, & I can’t get enough Twilight. Reading the books for the 3rd time, and I have seen the movie 11 times. I check TA morning & night along with some other sites. It’s an amazing story that I will truly love forever. : )

  • joeysmama92205

I’m 31 & totally know what you mean. My friend got me hooked. She got into the books about a year ago. She kept telling me I needed to read them. She was so super excited when the movie came out. I love Nora Roberts & I have everything she’s ever written. I’m reading or re-reading her stuff all the time. Lifetime made some of Nora’s books into movies so I knew how my friend felt. She talked me into going to see the movie with her but I didn’t go until after christmas. I loved it. The next day I went & got Twilight & 2 days later got the rest. I read them all in a week. I’ve re-read them 3 times. I seen the movie about 15 times. My friend loves that she got me obsessed & I just thank her.

  • christna

    Hello,
I just read your message about the Twilight books and I feel the same way. I am 31 years old and like you, I had to see what all the fuss was about. I bought the first book, read it, and found myself so engrossed I could not stop. I read all 4 books in 8 days-yes, I stopped living my life for those 8 days and nothing else got done, I didn’t even eat and lost 5 lbs! If that’s not crazy I don’t know what is. My husband thinks I am obsessed and so do I. I just loved the story and couldn’t help feeling depressed once I finished all four books. Like you I joined TA and follow updates, everyday mind you, and I need a Twilight fix to get me through the day! I’ve watched the movie countless times already and I feel so ridiculous and at the same time concerned that I am this addicted. I’m ashamed because I feel too old compared to the crowd that likes these books, but honestly, this love story was never inteneded for teenagers. I believe Stephanie intended this to be an adult novel and this is how it plays out. I think we older girls are so attracted to this story because of the passion it contains. We all secretely wish this is how our love life really was and that we too had a hot guy obsessed over us the way Edward is with Bella. I think we are living vicariously through them. The love and passion these two share is off the charts and one cannot help but feel like they are on fire while reading the parts when its just the two of them together. We are all wishing that was us! Everyone yearns to feel this desired and wanted and every girl wants to be treated the way Edward treats Bella, like the most beautiful and sexiest person in the world. It’s a love to die for and one cannot help but feeling they too want to be loved like that. I can’t go one day without having to look at something Twilight related. This story has ignited a fire in me that I cannot describe. It has changed the way I see love and how I want to be loved. I think we all see that and that’s why we are all shamelessly obsessed. So, don’t feel bad, you aren’t alone out there. We are on the same boat. By the way, love your name-Elizabeth Bennet. Jane Austen is my favorite author, and I am equally obsessed with her love stories as well. Pride and Predjudice is my all time favorite, right next to Twilight now.

  • Brandy

I am 36 years old as well. I am planning a trip out to Forks in September for “Bella’s Birthday” and have some merchandise too. I had the movie preordered and actually ordered two – one for myself with the movie stills and one for my 18 yr old niece. My 18 yr old niece ordered one for her Grandmother (my mother who is 64 years old this year). I have two sets of books so that I can loan them out to anyone who wants to read it. My Mother finished all 4 books in less than 1-2 months (she is not a book reader at alll but couldn’t put these down). I am part of a freecycle website as well and a young girl wanted to borrow copies and I was more than willing to loan them out.

I love the characters and the books… Thank you Stephanie Myers for these wonderfully written treasures.

  • Rosalice

I’m 27 years old and share your complete obsession. I bought the first 3 books in January as they were on offer and I’d heard so much about them and I haven’t looked back since. I soon added Breaking Dawn to my collection and have now read all four books a grand total of four times!!! I’ve seen the movie about 17 times and am completely obsessed with Rob Pattinson as well as Kellan Lutz and Jackson Rathbone. I’ve now also read Midnight Sun and have delved into the world of Twilight fanfictions which has only heightened my obsession – I really don’t think I’ll ever get over it!!!

Needless to say I can’t wait for New Moon and I intend to see every film Rob makes – the last time I saw that much talent on screen I was probably watching Heath Ledger or Johnny Depp (and I am talking about acting talent!!!).

22 y/o, read all 4 books multiple times AFTER seeing the movie then reading Midnight Sun. Pounded all 4 books out in one weekend. But I never would have read them if I hadn’t read Midnight Sun, so Stephenie Meyer PLEASE finish Midnight Sun — you will have so many new readers and will sell so many more books!!

I’m a 35 year old mom, so you’re not alone. I’ve always loved vampire books/series and movies but never like this. Anne Rice was my favorite in high school, but Stephenie is the new queen of the genre! Rock on Twilight moms!

I am 48 years old and I LOVE the TWILIGHT Books!! I am such an obsessed fan of them!! I have read the series about 15 times, and it doesn’t stop there! I bought the books, love them, and then I bought the audio CD version of them. I have put them on my ipod and I listen to them during the day. I had to see the movie in the theatres 12 times, it would have been more but I got sick for a while. I could not wait to get it on DVD!! I ordered the Target version of it, LOVE it!! I Also have the movie and extras on my ipod. (Can you see a trend here lol)

I love this website, it helps me get my fix of everything Twilight every day!! I can’t wait for New Moon to come out in November, and then Eclipse to come out next June. I am so hoping that they film Breaking Dawn as soon as possible because that will make an awesome movie as well!

I love all the books Stephenie Meyer has written. Twilight Saga and The Host are really great! I can’t wait for her to finish Midnight Sun also. (The Target version of Twilight has a scene from Edwards perspective in the extras on disc 3 – hats off to Midnight Sun)

I am a mother of one daughter who is 26 years old (which I introduced her to Twilight, and she loves it!
I am going to be a grandmother in June. So looking forward to that too!

I guess that is all I can think of for now. I better finish this because Breaking Dawn is waiting for me to finish it again.

(I posted this in the forum, but I thought it would go well here too. :)

I’m 52 and like all of you totally obsessed with the books. I have not stopped reading them since I got them last november. I have no idea wat makes these books so addictive and, though I’ve heard some plausible explanations, I’m still looking for an answer. I’ve started collecting all I can find on the story and the film. (Luckely for me there isn’t much about over here in Belgium) I have not done that since I was a teenager back in the 70′s. It’s completely bowled me over.

I’m 53 and didn’t get into the Twilight obsession until last year. My 58 year old sister gave it to me for my birthday in August and I thought it was a strange thing for her to give me. That was until I read it. I couldn’t put the book down. I read it faster than I have ever read a book before. She then sent me the rest of the saga for Christmas and I read them all very quickly. Saw the move, bought the movie, countless magazines and the soundtrack. Yeah, I’m obsessed. I, too, constantly surf the internet for any Twilight news or pictures, especially of Rob.

For such a fan I have a lame name but! Yes, at 33 I am completely hooked! I realized it when I cried to a friend about the dire need to read the fourth book but I had to drive almost 20 miles to get to the store! I read all four books within 7 days – I worked in there too but I don’t recall ANY lessons I did! Neither did I sleep or eat much. :) Addicted, obsessed, OCD completely and I admit it. Why is it so important – I feel alive – I too welcome the cold air (IL)and think Cullen, I welcome my warm heated mattress pad and my husband next to me (Werewolves), and I have bought 80 roses in glass vases which are all around my home (Alice). Side note – We had a 4 day weekend this past and I lent my movie to a friend. She kept it for 3 days! I was up at 4:30 a.m. today so I could kiss my “Carlisle” goodbye, work out to the soundtrack, and THEN watch the movie before school! My son (who goes by Edward) commented – Mom, are you watching Twilight again? Is that a good idea? I sighed and said yes…we’ll change it shortly…when I offered to, he said, “Nah, keep it here…I like the fight!” Ooops, breads done – dinner’s ready…goodbye my friends!

    I Am Only 17.
    But I Am Obsessed.
Since March I Have Reread The Entire Series Four Times.
And At School, My Teachers Beg Me To Read Other Books.
    To Broaden My Horizons.
    And I Have Honestly Tried.
But Since I Took My First Shot Of My Exact Brand Of Heroine,
Any Other Book Is Not Good Enough.
And I Read A LOT For A Teenager, I Read A Lot For An Old Lady Too.
    Haha.
    Nothing Else Is Good Enough.

And Since My Obsession Began I Have Gotten Three People Hooked.
And One On Edge, Ready To Read Them.
    One Including My Mom.
    Who Despises Anything Romantic.
    And She Loves These Books.

I Am On The Internet Every Day Checking For Updates On Midnight Sun, On How The Movie Is Progressing, If Any Of The Actors Are Appearing In Any Other Show, Or Movie.
Jackson Rathbone, On Criminal Minds Last Week.
    Oh Boy.
    =]
    He’s An Amazing Actor.

    Anywho,
Twilight Is Something That Will Own Me For Life.
I Don’t See How Anyone, Stephanie Included, Will Top These Books.

Obsessed Hell “yeah” I know I am. I am 44 and very young 44 I might add, with two boys 15 and 12. Anyway a friend who reads a lot was hanging out for a Movie called “Twilight. “ I read but not as much as my friend so I did not know what was about to change my life forever, anyway she gave me the book”Twilight” over the January School holidays and said “Enjoy”. So I started reading and reading and reading till 3 , 4 am in the morning and when I finished the book within the week I went and saw the Movie and as soon as it started I was in the “Twilight Zone” well, as soon as Edward Cullen walk out of the book and onto the screen I was in LOVE, and have been ever since. I went to see the Movie 28 times. I have now read and re-read all 4 books 3 times and now on my fourth round. The DVD comes out here in Australia on the 22 April. That sucks, but I have pre ordered the special edition. I have over 50 photos of Edward/Rob on my iphone, I have the Twilight Sound Track on my i pod , my ipet cat is ginger and called Edward, I have photos of Edward /Rob on my fridge, I have printed out Twilight photos and use them as book marks, I have the Twilight Movie Companion, The Directors Notebook , a Twilight Bag, 2 Team Edward T-Shirts, A Team Pattinson T-Shirt, I have The Cullen Crest Key Ring , I have a fridge magnet that says “If you don’t like Twilight , you’re just stupid” I had to order all the Merchandise on-line from the USA . I find myself quoting lines out of the movie, like when my 12 year old came home from School with a painting he had done I said without thinking, “Beautiful very visually dynamic” and when I had a fight with my 15 year old I said “You know your mood swing are giving me whiplash” I think about Twilight every day, all the time I just go through the motions with all the other life stuff like family etc ,but Twilight “it’s like a drug to me, my own brand of Heroin”. I go on all the Twilight sites, You Tube, you name it anything Twilight I am there..Twilighters Anonymous is by far my favorite. My poor suffering ever so patient Husband, “who does not sparkle, dammit”, is still thinking it’s a “phase” this ‘”phase “is now 4month old and New Moon is not even out yet. I was also thinking of getting a tattoo, just don’t know what yet. I have a couple of friends who like The Twilight Saga I say like not ”obsessed like me”, some other friends have not read the books or seen the Movie, they think I need a life, “what” I have a life a “Twilight Life” I don’t talk much to them anymore, nothing to say really. Yes I say it loud I say it proud I am obsessed. I am desperate to win the lottery so I can fly to Vancouver and go Twilight Cast spotting. Yes I would leave my Family and fly to Canada and they know it, only for a little while then I’ll be back, or maybe I’ll follow them to Italy, (til then I’ll keep dreaming).

I too have become obsessed w/the Twilight Saga, movie & anything that has to deal with Twilight. [darn you Stephenie Meyer for writing this awesome story & creating this madness! ;) ] I LOVE LOVE LOVE it! I’m a bit younger (24) and single, but it does take up a lot of my life and time! I get online everyday (on the rare occasion I’ll skip a day) to see if there’s any news related to anything Twilight. I can have anything that comes up during the day remind of Twilight in some way or another. In the past month I’ve had at least 2 dreams that involved Twilight characters. I have to force myself to NOT pick up one of the books and start reading, again. Since the Twilight dvd came out I’ve watched it four times, and I listen to the soundtrack a lot! And I have more movie memorabilia than I should considering the $$$ I’ve spent. And my poor friends have to deal w/me! I am usually pretty good at not bringing it up, I wait for them too!

I’ve decided I can blame my sister-in-law for my obsession though, she introduced me to the books in Dec of 2007. I had never heard of them before and probably never would have read them if not for her! My obsession didn’t get really bad until after BD came out. I had read the first three books only once back in Dec/Jan and then read BD. I didn’t remember everything that happended before so I was like I need to read these again. So I reread the whole saga again in a week, and I was like wow these books are really good, I love them! And so I reread the saga again. I reread the whole saga 4 times before I had to make myself stop! And then I was obsessed about everything to do w/the movie. And since then I’ve been obsessed and am a proud Twilighter! What can I say the books make me happy, I love the story, and most of the characters. They are just awesome!

It might as well be me writing this – change 8 year old daughter and replace it with 13 year old daughter. I am totally obsessed and I am seriously needing help HA HA HA. My daughter – who read the books first thinks I am crazy.

I have google alerts so that I know what is going on. I read the series a few times and downloaded the books on my MP3 so I can listen. I have watched the movie – a million times that my family thinks i am crazy

I am 35 (soon) and I dont know why I have fell in love with these characters and these books – I guess it probably goes back to the one true love that got away??? That first love feeling… who knows all I do know is I cant get enough.

  • twilightcountryresident

This sounds a lot like me. Yes, I think I am obsessed. I never thought I would be able to feel this passionate about any fictional story again this late in life (53 yrs old), but much to my surprise I’ve fallen in love with the characters of Twilight. It makes me happy, and it’s harmless, so there’s nothing to be ashamed of. I am a Twilight-a-holic and proud of it.

  • Trixie

I seriously am beginning to think there’s something wrong w/ me. I got the 1st book in December (via a friend’s suggestion) but didn’t read it until last Sunday. I stayed up ALL night and finished it in one sitting. I ordered the next 2 books, received them last Friday & finished New Moon this morning. I just can NOT put these books down; it doesn’t matter how late at night/early in the morning I start reading them…I can’t stop!

I bought the dvd on Friday & have watched it 3 times since then (guess it helps that I only work part time)! I’ve also been checking out tons of Twilight stuff on the net for the past week.
I realize I’m a late-comer to the Twilight phenomenon, but it has definitely *sucked* me in!! I think about the books & characters ALL the time now. I can’t really talk about it to anyone for fear they’ll think I’m CRAZY! I think my husband’s beginning to get the idea, but even he doesn’t know the full extent.

I’m a little concerned that it seems I’m depressed when I’m NOT reading the books or watching the movie. Like reality kinda sucks now. :(

  • Edbigfan

I feel the same way as everyone on here. What I want to know is what we can do about it? Some people are now thinking I’m crazy and I feel like I am crazy as this is all I can think about. Edward and his gentleman ways and well basically I don’t want to do anything but to read about him and think about what my life would be if he was here. I was also late to jump on the bandwagon but now that I have, it’s hit me big time and worried what this is doing to my sleep deprivation and emotions. Advice?

  • dameofthedawn

  • BarbAnne

OMG.  I am so happy to realize there are other “older” women out there who LOVE the Twilight Series.  I have watch each movie multiple times, as well as read the books.  Got to watch Breaking Dawn yesterday on MOD on comcast.  Will watch it again this afternoon while husband is golfing.  (ha, he could stay out all day.  I’ll watch one of them again) Yes, this obsession is scary. I think it is the romance that we love.  We don’t have that anymore-usually just blatant sex scenes that turn me off. And now, I love the classic Clair de Lune by Debussey.
