TA fan Brooke wonders what are your fave features from the DVD?:

TA Talks Back: Did your version of the DVD live up to the hype? by Brooke

Now that the DVD has been out for a couple days, I wonder which editions sold the most. Of course, by now we all know that 3 million copies of the DVD were sold in the first 24 hours. Of those, I wonder how many are multiple copies bought by single individuals. I myself only bought one copy of the DVD, a 3-disc special edition from Target, but at least two of the women (not girls, but women my age) that were in line with me Saturday morning said that they’d already ordered at least 2 other copies online because of the special features.

After getting home with my copy of the DVD, I put it in immediately and sat down to watch it. That was around 8:15. When my husband woke up at noon, I was still watching the special features discs, had just started the third one in fact. For the price I paid for the DVD, I was very very impressed with the amount of material that came with it. Of course there were things on other editions that I would have loved to have bought but all in all I think I made a good choice out of all the versions that were out there.

How many times have you guys watched your copies? Are you happy with the version you bought? Do you wish now that you’d bought different ones? What were your favorite special features on the DVD? Was it worth the price you paid?

As always, Talk Back to us….

I think I’ve watched it about five times all together, and the extras at least twice. I love the music videos. I didn’t know there was a 3 disc set!!! I want it now! Ha ha

  • Britt

I got the 3-disc HMV version. I LOVE IT. The third disc is the best. The Vampire Kiss Montage and Bella’s Lullaby video are AMAZING OMGGG.

  • almst_famous

I got the 2-disc special edition from Amazon and I am really happy with it! I wish there was bloopers, but I really enjoyed the documentary. The commentary is awesome too!!

  • Marie

i think the BEST version was thw target one, 3 disc for $17.

also, ANYTHING twilight lives up to my expectations! haha :D

  • Shannon

I didn’t even know that there was a 3 disc special edition…I only knew of the 2 disc special edition…

  • Holly

Ha..well..I ordered the 3 disc set almost 2 weeks ago from Target and I have yet to receive it. I am pretty mad at Target considering I expected it would arrive earlier…I am hoping it lives up to my expectations. My university is showing it tomorrow on the big screen so I am psyched I get to see it atleast tomorrow night! lol

  • BellaAnne8

I’ve watched my borders copy several times…when I get paid..I will be getting the Target 3 disc one! :)

  • Mandy

Well, of course I like to see the special features as much as the next fan. I bought the 2 disc one from Wal-Mart and I was satisfied with just that. I mean, really for me, I will watch the special features ONCE and then forget about them. I think it’s crazy to order multiple copies because when it comes down to it, its the SAME MOVIE! That’s all that matters in the end to me. I’ll watch the movie over and over again but not the special features. Those are ok to watch once, get your fill of unknown info and then onto the movie! But, whatever floats your boat, right? I like my copy just fine!

  • Jayme

hey holly, my college is playing it tomorrow too…do u go to UCF?

  • Holley

I bought the 3 disc special edition from HMV, which is IDENTICAL to the Target version, and I’m definitely impressed, half of the time i get so bored by special features, but I was actually pretty entertained. And the commentary on the film between catherine, rob, and kristen is absolutely hilarious!!! I’m glad i picked the version I did, and that I didn’t jump the gun right away, I waited until all the versions appeared!

Okay, I will admit that I am a geek and an addict but at least I know I’m in good company! :-)
I got the Borders 2-disc version (LOVE the cover and the cards), the 3-disc Target set (I cancelled my pre-order from them and just picked it up in the store) and I got the iTunes version as well. Yup,
I’m a geek. I’ve watched either the movie or the extras several times and often have it playing in the background while I’m doing (ahem) work for school.
Have to say that as a result of the bonus stuff I am now a confirmed JASPER addict-GAH he is ssoooo cute! On the bonus discs I love the “Carlisle and Esme” deleted scene-that NEEDS to be in the extended version. As well as the 3 minutes of Rob/Edward at the piano. Sigh. The boys got game. All in all, I’m really happy I got all the versions I did and I’m hoping that they put out either a Directors Cut or an Extended Version set kind of like they did with LOTR. Now if we could just speed up production on New Moon…

  • BostonCullenFan

I ordered the 3 disc from Target but wound up picking up the deluxe edition at Borders when I went to the DVD release party (which I’m glad I did because I was able to get one signed by Edi Gathegi).

I did enjoy the special features, especially the making of and the deleted scenes.

  • mcullenvamp

i got the 2 disc from FYE and then the 3 disc from Target should arrive today… i’ve watched the special features once, the movie once and then the movie with audio commentary once… i’ve just been way too busy for more! but i’ll be out of work for surgery in May so i’m saving up my viewing, i’m sure i’ll watch it plenty then!

I pre-ordered a Boarders copy, still have not received it yet, for the extras and because it looked more like a collectible. I cannot wait to get it. But on Saturday morning I ran to my local Target with about 50 other women of different ages (I am 24) and purchased the 3 disc special edition with the iTunes download (well worth the price only $17.99 and you get not only and extra disc but also the iTunes download with all the extras, so great). The Target copy is great and the best priced for all the extras I have seen. I watched the movie and all the special features this past weekend and have since re-watched the movie twice on DVD and once on my iPod. I only wish I had a Blue Ray DVD Player those copies look great also. : ) I feel the DVD was well worth the wait, I seem to love the movie more each time I watch it I keep finding things I missed or overlooked the first few times of watching it.

Did anyone buy the Costco set with the watch and jewelry box? What does the watch look like? Do they sell it anywhere else?

  • girl

yeah I ahve the two dics/ the movei great and I lvoe the special feature. my fave dleted scen is in wen Edward says Bella’s umber was. I kidna wnat the third dvd set. maybe I’ll havea friend burn the 3rd f disc for me or something

  • heather

I bought the Target 3 disk and I love it. The Edward piano concert is the best. I’ve watched that over and over. The kiss montage and lullaby remix video are pretty cool as well.

  • mysteriously

The only thing I really miss having on my basic 2-disc set from Amazon is “Edward’s Piano Concert”… but thanks to the magic of YouTube, I can still see it anyway. Otherwise, the little ‘making of’ documentary was the best special feature.

  • Christie

    My wishlist:
    * A director’s cut – the extended and deleted scenes actually IN the movie, not as a separate option and WITHOUT the director intro. Catherine Hardwicke just annoys me. LOL

    * MORE of Edward’s piano concert (from Target’s 3-disc set) – 3 minutes is simply not enough! Rob is an amazing improv musician.

  • Midori

I have the 2 disc set from Borers, it also came from 10 picture cards. The only thing I was disappointed was is with the kissing scene, I thought they were going to put that deleted scene where Edward falls from the bed. Everything is fantastic! Yesterday I went to my local Target and they have tons of dvd (2 & 3 disc sets). I should of waited ’cause they were selling it for $17.97…ugh! I think that it’s the best deal.

  • Paula

is there going 2 be a 3 disc set out in the uk or just th one 2 disc ?

  • jenb

I bought the borders special edition & am just fine w/it. (sounds like the target 3 disc is awesome, but I don’t have one near me :( ) I was really hoping that there would be a director’s cut edition because I love most of the extended & deleted scenes & would love to see them in the movie! (especially the extended meadow what that was cust I’ll never understand, and then the carlisle & esme scene was so cute!) so all around I’m satisfied w/my copy.

  • Aleana

I got my copy from Amazon’s. They delivered a day before the release which was really awesome! But,the next day I went to target to find out that they have 3 DVD’s for the same price I had paid, $17,99. I got so disappointed. I guess Target has the best deal!

  • Alicia

I got the Target 3-disc edition and I love it! The special features are awesome and I love that I got all the iTunes content as well. Plus, you can’t beat the price!!! I have a blu-ray player and I’m tempted to go and buy the blu-ray version as well. I know that my player will up-convert my regular DVDs to HD, but I thought I read somewhere (maybe here?) that the New Moon trailer will be available via BD Live. So if I buy any other version, it’s definitely going to be the blu-ray one.

  • Angelica

The vampire montage- specifically the Biology scene within it. LOVED IT! My mouth DROPPED. That would have been SOOO awesome if it had been in the movie.

Bloopers would have been nice too.

  • Anita

I have enjoyed all the comments on this article. I think I want the 3 disc one too!SOfar I have just seen the movie on cable. Thought it was great!

  • http://g-ivy-ar.livejournal.com Gabriela

I’m a fan from Argentina and in my country there are only 2 versions of the DVD: the 1 Disc with the movie & the 2 Disc special pack (the 2nd disc contains a 6 part documentary with all the details of pre-production, production & post-production of New Moon). I bought the 2 Disc version because I love watching all the behind the scenes details of my fave movies and I’d love to have the rest of the featurettes that were missing (like the deleted scenes, the preparation of the actors to become the characters, etc). If Summit released another package with just all of the special behind the scenes features I’d definitely buy it. It’s a shame that Summit decided to play games with the fans expectations by releasing different sets of DVD extras.
