TA TALKS BACK: DO TWILIGHT FANS REALLY LOVE ROBERT PATTINSON?
Ta fan edelacruz wonders if we’re in love with Edward or Rob Pattinson:
We’ve all heard Rob say it in interviews time and time again: “The fans are in love with Edward, not me.†Rob is playing a fictional character – Edward Cullen, who is arguably this generation’s “Romeoâ€. And what’s not to love about Edward? He’s intelligent, gorgeous, mysterious, chivalrous, caring, and has that dangerous edge that would make any girl’s heart skip a beat. It’s a given: we all love Edward…for many wonderful reasons. But are the screaming and hysterically emotional masses transferring all that passionate wanting towards the mortal man that plays this “perfect guyâ€? In other words, do many Twilight Fans love Robert Pattinson only because they associate him with Edward Cullen?
Some people honestly have admitted not making the distinction between Robert and Edward. I’ve seen many people in chat rooms and blogs interchange Rob’s name when they mean to say Edward. Not that I blame them for making a mistake like that. It can be a daunting task to force yourself to separate the truth from the fantasy, especially when thinking of Rob’s performance in Twilight. Rob personified Edward Cullen so completely that he made the audience forget he was acting. We forgot that Rob is actually British and that he was once Cedric Diggory in the Harry Potter movies. But when the Twilight cameras stopped rolling, did people forget that Rob was an actor playing a role? We’ve seen this kind of thing before. Daniel Radcliffe may never shake the character of Harry Potter, regardless of how many shows he does of Equus in New York or how many other films he does in his career. Rob has already made several films and has made it very clear that he does not want to get typecast or associated with any one genre of film. He constantly reminds us that the character of Edward was so difficult to play because he’s written as being “perfectâ€. Twilight may have catapulted Rob into the stratosphere of fame, but he’s still a person. He’s a shy, introvert who happens to love acting, but shuns the never-ending publicity and non-existent privacy that comes with it. Are fans making Rob’s life impossibly stressful because many of them won’t allow him to shake the character of Edward Cullen? Will that change once the last film is made?
So…do you think that most Twilight Fans love Rob or Rob as Edward?
