TA TALKS BACK: WHAT’S THE HOLD UP ON NEW MOON CASTING?

TA Forum member Anitamichichi has written an article about why it’s taking so damn long to get any solid casting news about the New Moon movie.

 

What’s the hold up?

Has anyone else been wondering what’s with all the “hush-hush” going on with Summit and New Moon: the movie? I understand if they don’t want to reveal exact locations of where they’re filming, because they don’t want as many fans visiting the sites. No offense people, but in order for us to get as lucky as we did with Twilight while it was filming and the site visits from fans, we’re going to need a miracle. However, if it’s one thing that I’ve learned joining this fandom, nothing is impossible ;) .

Keeping actual filming sites on the “down-low” is one thing, but how come a lot of the principle actors such as Sarah Clarke (Renee) and even Rachelle Lefevre (Victoria) haven’t received the official confirmation that they’re coming back to reprise their roles?

Collider.com Interview at Push premiere with Rachelle Lefevre excerpt:

Steve “Frosty” Weintraub: “Can you believe you’re going to be filming another one of these (Twilight Series Film) and it’s going to be out later this year?

Rachelle Lefevre: “Well, the fact that it has a start date of November 20 already, and I mean the fact that I haven’t seen a script, I haven’t been confirmed, I don’t know when we’re filming, I don’t know anything except that I’m in the books. That’s all I have to go on right now.”

Let’s also not forget about our precious Sam Uley (Soloman Trimble) or Embry Call (Krys Ivory). Casting for Native Americans was really difficult during the filming of Twilight, but they were still lucky enough to find Solomon and Krys. Despite they’re minimal lines in Twilight; I think they were wonderfully cast.

Based from a News Blog of New Moon hopeful Koa Orquia, he had received a message from Solomon Trimble in reference to a rumored meeting with director Chris Weitz, “There is no such meeting with Krys and I. We have not been contacted yet at all.”

All this secrecy that Summit has going on with the actors is getting to be a little ridiculous. Even screenwriter for the Twilight Series films, Melissa Rosenberg, talked about cast potentials during the Director’s Guild of America Awards:

“I can tell you the original cast will all be coming back. They’re on set right now, in Vancouver! They’re all up there prepping the movie to start shooting very soon.”

In the words of Bella: This is giving me whip-lash!

Can Summit or Stephenie please put some of these casting concerns to rest already??

    is krys’s last name really Ivory? ive been looking for his name and then its just mentioned on this like nothin, well im curious if it really is. XD

    To be honest I don’t believe anything that the cast is saying. Summit knows that they have to be filming as soon as possible. If I were Summit I would be telling the cast to say nothing about the script and shooting because it is building hype for the movie. Look, we are all wondering about the castings and the script so therefore we consume anything about the Twilight Saga and the movies. I would like to hear something from Taylor Lautner I haven’t seen him in anything in a longtime and that is just plain weird. I wonder if he is already in Canada? The only thing I want is to see all of the same cast that was in Twilight to come back for New Moon and the new comers to try to be as close to their characters as possible.

    Amanda: Yea fter lots of digging I found his last name. He isn’t even on IMDB and the article I sited from didn’t have it either, for some strange reason they kept siting his last name as Embry?? I don’t know why they did that. But yea, that’s his last name :)

    Victoria wasn’t actually IN New Moon was she? Other than Bella thinking she saw her in the water? She was part of the story, of course, but I don’t know that she was actually shown.

    Same with Renee. She did have small parts in the story but I could easily see the part being cut from the screenplay and her possibly just mentioned in dialog.

    I agree with the other poster who said the cast is probably being told to be hush-hush.

    Rob was still in London this weekend and Kristen was spotted in LA after “Melissa Rosenberg, talked about cast potentials during the Director’s Guild of America Awards:

    that’s strange. Maybe the actors really have been casted and the official list isn’t out because the cast has sworn not to tell anyone until given the okay. LOL, a movie conspiracy. That’s a new one!

    Sure they could tell us but then they would have to kill us which I quite a hearty number that it would be the bigger than the Cullens during bear season

    Christie-You are right. Technically, Victoria isn’t in New Moon and neither is Renee.

    Has anyone actually seen vid interviews with these people making these comments, cause I thought it was weird that Melissa said everyone was already in Vancover when filming doesn’t start until the end of March. Any pre production stuff doesn’t necessarily include the actor or need the actors to be in Vancover

    1stly Victoria is in new moon. from jacob and the packs point of veiw they had her cornered in the mountains but she got away.
    2ndly you tube has a interview on taylor lautner and he has gained 26 pounds to look better and beefier for the new moon movie.

    I was think about this at work (not very productive when you’re debt collecting). The only time Victoria makes an appearance in New Moon (as such) Bella doesn’t even realise it’s her. She just sees a flash of orange which she later realises was Victoria’s hair.

    Renee was referred to in conversations in New Moon, but was never seen. Charlie tells Alice (I think) that he got Renee in when he thought of sending Bella back to her after Edward left. But Renee didn’t have any dialogue in the book. She was a topic of conversation. So why would either of the actress’ that played these roles have a script?

    Melissa seems to stick as close to the book as she realistically can which would be why Leah isn’t in the script. Leah’s mentioned more in Eclipse. She’s a face in a group of people or a passing mention in a conversation in New Moon.

    I think, unless it’s seem in a video of an interview with the actors, don’t take it as gospel.

    Kristen: The comments from Rachelle were found in an interview video that’s from Collider.com (It’s the first link that I listed at the end of the article after sources. Rachelle’s interview is the second video on that web page) Solomon’s statement is on the second link. As for Melissa Rosenberg’s interview (which is the third link), I think what she meant was that the CREW is “prepping for the movie in Vancouver”. She should’ve worded her statement differently. From the previous interviews and pictures we’ve seen we all know for sure that a lot of the cast is still in the states except for Rob who’s still in London.

    I agree with everyone on the whole casting issue… the only reason I could see most of the cast being up in Canada already would be to set up their hotel rooms… and with February being Ashley and Taylor’s birthday month, I highly doubt that they are up there… and I know Jackson’s not in Canada because he’s still in LA with 100 Monkeys and he’s doing martial arts training for The Last Airbender… but I’m really tired of all the rumors about Jane and the other Vulturi members

    Perhaps Rachelle should go back and read New Moon before she starts commenting on not getting a script then.

    I figure we’ll start seeing moment towards Canada in March as well as getting news of who’s been cast as the wolfs and the Italians

    i think the whole secrecy of the cast members is ridiculous too. if they really are intending to start filming in march i think most of the cast members should be confirmed already… there’s just so many new actors and actresses in New Moon, Summit couldn’t possible expect them to wait for so long and then break the news to all of them on the same day right?

    Ok…Victoria and Renee are not in NM, cuz if we all remember correctly, the movies are Bella’s perspective, and we never read Bella actually looking or having a conversation with any of them. And cast wise, I think they are still negotiating some roles, so they will come up with an official list when everyone is confirmed.

    I read an articale that as of Jan. 12, 09 Melissa had a major rewrite so maybe they don’t have a script they like and there waiting to see. The whole thing with Renee she wasn’t really in twilight the book as much as she was the movie, I’m sure she’ll be in it. Same as victoria they need the action to go along withbtje story will see here she might not say anything but I’m sure she’ll be in it.

    I went to Taylor myspace page and it confirms that they are starting production but he had not been called yet to start and he said America Ferrira did try out for the part of Leah Clearwater and Vanessa Hudgens will definitely not in the movie. He also said Eclipse(2010), Breaking Dawn(2013)were to follow and he is excited that is all I know…
