TA Staffer Rebecca gives us a little background information on Bryce Dallas Howard, who is set to take over the role of Victoria in Eclipse, previously filled by Rachelle Lefevre.

Who Is Bryce Dallas Howard? By: Rebecca

In case some of you didn’t know, Bryce Dallas Howard is set to replace Rachelle Lefevre as Victoria in ‘The Twilight Saga: Eclipse’. But the question remains: ‘who is she?’

Bryce Dallas Howard was born on 2nd March 1981 in Los Angeles, California, USA. She was born to parents Ron Howard and Cheryl Howard (nee Alley). Her father, Ron Howard is a former actor turned director who directed the Dan Brown’s novel turned movie The Da Vinci Code (2006), Angels and Demons (2009) and Frost/Nixon (2008) which starred The Twilight Saga: New Moon’s very own Michael Sheen.

She has two younger sisters, twins Paige Howard and Jocelyn Carlyle Howard and a younger brother Reed Cross Howard. All four siblings were named after the places where they were conceived, Bryce’s being Dallas, Texas, USA.

She has been in many of her father’s films as an extra before her debut feature length movie being Book of Love (2004). She has also been in many productions on the New York stage. M. Night Shyamalan cast her in The Village (2004) without having an audition as he had seen her perform on Broadway. Up to now her most memorable roles have been Ivy Walker in The Village (2004), Gwen Stacy in Spider-Man 3 (2007) and Kate Conner in Terminator Salvation (2009).

On June 17th 2006, Bryce Dallas Howard married Seth Gabel in Greenwich, Connecticut, USA. They met at New York University and dated for five years before getting married. On February 16th 2007, Bryce and Seth welcomed their first child Theodore ‘Theo’ Norman Howard Gabel. Seth Gabel is also an actor and has been in many TV shows and a few movies. His most memorable roles have been Michael in The Da Vinci Code (2006), Adrian Moore in ‘Nip/Tuck’ (2004) and Jeremy Darling in ‘Dirty Sexy Money’ (2004 – 2009).

Will Bryce be able to make the part of Victoria her own after we have all come to love Rachelle Lefevre’s portrayal of Victoria? Only time will tell.

So, Twilight fans, what do you think? Are you willing to embrace Bryce as Victoria? Talk back to us…

I dont care who she is… it was wrong of summit to remove Rachelle. Eclipse was Rachelle’s film! Her last film! She already has a following and ppl loved her as Vicky so ALL THUMBS DOWN FOR SUMMIT TAKING THAT DECISION!!!

  • SKatus

I know that I will probably be blasted for this, but here goes:

I personally think that Bryce Dallas Howard will do a tremendous job as Victoria and will surpass Rachelle Lafevre by leaps and bounds. I don’t know how anyone can say that Rachelle is Victoria by her only viewed and limited performance in Twilight. No one has seen her in New Moon as of yet so she could totally suck. Personally when I first read Twilight, then of course New Moon and Eclipse I envisioned someone more like Bryce. Then after recently re-reading Eclipse and before the recast I actually had thought of Bryce as being a better portrayal of Victoria. I was floored when the recast happened. I yelled “I totally called that!” My husband thought I was having a stroke or something, he didn’t get it. Anyway, I think that everyone should give this accomplished actress a chance to flex her abilities and bring the best portrayal of Victoria to the big screen. Rant concluded.

Bryce Dallas Howard is a tremendous actress who is FAR more talented than Rachelle Lefevre. Rachelle’s hair is pretty, but she is not nearly as deep an actress as Bryce. Rachelle is surfacy and uninteresting in the things i’ve seen her in… While Bryce is stunning and has an ethereal, timeless quality. Kudos for Summit making such a smart casting decision.

I think Summit was wrong to replace Rachelle Lefevre, to me she was Victoria as she was written by Stephenie Meyers. And if Summit changed the filming schedule, then they always intended to replace Rachelle, which was bang out of order.

  • Lainie88

You forgot ‘Lady in the Water’ which I loved. The score is great too, by James Newton Howard (I don’t think there is any relation but I’m not sure.)

I think Bryce is a great actress, and I was a fan before all this. But I miss Rachelle! She was an important part of the Twilight Saga. Did you check out her portrait in the New Moon calendar with Edi? Very hot! It makes me saaaaad

  • Donna

I agree with Sam…I don’t care who she is. I don’t like the way this whole thing went down and feel that RL was treated badly by the studio. I thought this was a family! I would never treat a family member of mine like Summit treated her. I will never see BDH as Victoria. This is an unnecessary distraction to the Twilight Saga.

  • xara

She will never, ever be Victoria. She’s just terrible for the part. It was just stupid for Summit to do this, because chances are that it will lose them a lot of profit. All my friends and I have agreed that we won’t see Eclipse unless Rachelle is put back on, and by the looks of it, we won’t be seeing the movie.

  • sammi

In response to Donna’s comment that the cast and studio were a family… No way, not a family. IT’S BUSINESS and the BOTTOM LINE. I get the feeling Bryce has the Hollywood connections (her daddy is Ron Howard!) that enabled her to pull the rug from under Rachel’s. Sounds mean I know, but let’s move on. After all, I don’t really know what took place behind the scenes. I wish both Bryce and Rachel the best, especially Rachel. Rachel, you will always be the better Victoria for me where Twilight is concerned. I hope a different actress for Victoria won’t be distracting when I watch Eclipse.

  • Okie Dokie

Okay Sammi – We all know she is Ron’s daughter (helloooooo) and spell Rachelle’s name right for Pete’s sake. Oh and by the way who are you to say it wasn’t a family, you obviously aren’t in it anyway. DUH

  • sammi

In response to OKIE DOKIE: Gee, how petty. Seems like someone’s buttons got pushed.

  • cece

i fully support Bryce!! Okie Dokie- I am in it, not twilight, but Bryce’s!!
