THE DAILY BEAST: BREAKOUT STARS OF 2009

Week after week, we see lists announcing that Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart are hands down, break out stars of 2008. But what about 2009? The Daily Beast has compiled a list of their predicted ‘Breakout Stars of 2009′, and two ‘Twilight’ actors made the list (and they weren’t Kristen OR Rob!).

 

Cam Gigandet:
Some teen-TV fans may remember Cam as the guest character on The O.C. responsible for killing off Mischa Barton, but he’s going to be known for much more than Marissa-cide after this year. Cam has a whopping seven movies in production for 2009—and those are just the ones that have been officially announced. After his breakout role as a pale vampire in last fall’s Twilight, Cam will appear in Pandorum (a thriller about a spaceship with Dennis Quaid), Five Star Day (a coming of age story with Jena Malone), and Kid Cannabis, among others.

Taylor Lautner:
After originating the role of Jacob Black in the original crazy successful teen-vampires-stare-and-brood Twilight, there was talk Taylor Lautner wouldn’t be cast in the sequel. Fortunately, the director was convinced and Lautner is bulking up to play the older role in the follow-up New Moon, which will be rushed into theaters this November. Robert Pattinson, watch your back. Teen girls, get your screaming pipes ready.

I love Rob and Kristen, but I’m really excited to see that people are recognizing other ‘Twilight’ stars. I definitely Taylor will shine in ‘New Moon’, and I can’t wait to see his performance!

    I think that both Taylor and Cam will be breakout stars. They both did amazing performances in Twilight.
    As like others, I am getting tired of hearing of Rob and Kristen, even though I do love Rob

    I think that Cam and Taylor both will be break out stars as well, but i also think that Ashley Greene will be a big star for 2009.

    I would like to see Ashley Greene and Jackson Rathbone in other films. Yet I know that Jackson would be busy with his band 100 Monkeys. Never know. More power to all of them!

    Cam definitely…he is totally hot! Taylor not so much…he needs to control his super inflated ego.

    Jackson Rathbone is also going to be really big in 2009 in both acting and music!

    Totally agree. Cam is hot, in more ways than one! 7 movies – WOW!
    Good for him.
    I love Taylor too and I think he will kick a– in New Moon and make everybody who doubts him eat their words!
    I like Ashley Greene too-she did a great job as Alice and will play a bigger part in NM too.
    The whole cast seems to be doing really well and I’m thrilled for all of them.

    I think Embry is going to be someone to watch, even though noone seems to know his last name Krys is talked about all over the net as the hottest male in Twilight. Personally, I have to agree with that.

    Finally! I think Cam’s recognition is WAY OVERDUE! He is a fantastic actor and having seen him in some roles other than Twilight, I think he can do pretty much any part thrown his way…he is quite versatile and very easy to believe in the part he’s playing. It’s easy to forget that he is Cam Gigandet while he’s playing a part and that is essential to pulling off a role in a film…not to mention he’s easy on the eyes too…he’s sexier than Rob, though Rob is quite hot too…

    ROB DOES NOT HAVE TO WATCH HIS BACK…TAYLOR WILL NEVER OUT SHINE HIM.. THERE IS TO MANY ROB FANS AND TO MAY PEOPLE HATE JACOP THE CHARACTER (INCLUDING ME) SO THE ODDS FOR TAYLOR TO GET MILLIONS MORE SCREEMING GIRLS ARE A LOT LOWER THAN ROB… HE WILL NEVER OUT SHINE SORRY JACOP FANS

    Woah, Amber, calm down. It’ called publicity for the movie. Though I 100% agree that Taylor wont get as many screaming girls as Rob because he is linked to Jacob. Sadly, thats true. The way Rob is linked to Edwards character. I hope that Taylors acting is as good as promised in Twilight. Personally, I would rather wear my ipod and suffer until Alice returns….I’ll be squeeling by that point! Im so stolked to see Robs potrayal as Edward in this film. Everyone seems to be over looking this. Rob seems really excited to show his more dramatic side, how depressed and long suffering Edward was without Bella. I CAN NOT WAIT FOR ROB IN NEW MOON!

    While I do agree that both Taylor and Cam will go on to become two of hollywood’s biggest and finest actors…..I have to stick with Rob. Sorry girls, Cam and Taylor are hot but Rob is magnificent perfection rolled up into one perfect little package.

    rob is way hotter than either of them, not to say that they aren’t hot but just not even close to rob. rob is the most beautiful guy on the planet and a great actor.

    Okay so I’m so glad they kept Taylor. I believe if they had not used him in the next movie that it would have been different. He plays Jacob very well. I think he will definetly shine in 2009. He may be young, but he seems to really want to do this and he seems to appreicate being able to stay in the film in the first place. Jacob will be earning his spot light. Rob just had the spot light from the begining because he IS EDWARD. Now Rob is great…there is no lie in that. But everyone loves the thought of having an old fashioned man in they’re life. The character Edward has the spotlight…not Rob. Taylor is earning his chops. Thats great. And so is Ashley…she also deserves it. 2009 should be quite interesting for us twilight fans.

    Yeah, they both have nothing on Rob…He just have that something that ur just in awe about. but Cam and Taylor are cute and I’m glad for them… But Rob will always be number one to fans..specially since He’s Edward!!!

    To be honest, I’m not really that hopeful about Taylor in New Moon. He looks nothing like he’s supposed to look, and all he done in Twilight was smile with those unnaturally white teeth and laugh and talk in that creepy voice of his. :P I know he didn’t have a big part in Twilight but he made the character as deep as a puddle. Sorry for Taylor fans but seriously?! Why do people like him so much when let’s be honest here – he wasn’t the best actor in Twilight…?

    I really think Cam G will make it big though . . .

    And seriously?! Let’s be honest here :- More people love Rob/Edward than Taylor/Jacob. Taylor will never outshine Rob. Rob has more talent and is more attractive than Taylor. The only thing Rob would lose when it was with Taylor is a karate competition. XD

    Sorry, just my opinion. I really think Cam G will have a lot of success but Taylor. . .? NO.

    I’m sure Cam will be a break-out performer this year. I went to school with Cam from grade school on. He has gotten into very good movies so far and has a nache for playing the “bad boy.” Let’s just hope he can play a more conservative, and less evil character.

    Yeah, I agree. They’ll be huge!

    But as for people saying they’d like to See more of Jackson…. uhm…. why? I just hope they give him more lines in the next movie. i was sooo pissed that the left out his most shining line in Twilight. (Right before Bella runs off to meet James, he tries to convince her that she IS worth the trouble)
    Random question… WHO WOULD NAME THEIR BAND 100 MONKEYS?!?!?! WEIRD!

    I glad they both one sonething, they both did fantastic jobs.
    Well done Cam and Taylor. I’m happy for them.
