‘THE TWILIGHT SAGA: NEW MOON’ SELLING 10 TICKETS PER SECOND

Posted November 20th, 2009 By: Team Switzerland 10 Comments »

We’ve just gotten in some very cool stats from Fandango to follow up with the exciting news we got earlier today regarding midnight showing sales. The movie brought in a whopping $26.27 million dollars in midnight showings alone (read more about that here if you missed it), and things definitely have not slowed down. Check out some cool film statistics below, courtesy of Fandango:

Ticket sales show no signs of tapering off this weekend, as the movie is trending to sell more than 10 tickets per second throughout the course of the day on Fandango.

Summit Entertainment has reported that “New Moon” set a new record for opening midnight shows with an estimated gross of $26.270 million playing at 3,514 theaters for a per theater average of $7,476.

Several thousand of last night’s midnight shows were sold out in advance on our site. Fandango sold nearly 30% of Thursday night’s estimated domestic box office for “New Moon.”

How many of you have already seen New Moon and how many of you plan to go for a second (or third/fourth/tenth/fiftieth) viewing this weekend?

I plan to see it AT LEAST 3 times… that is AT LEAST 3 times. lol If they’re breaking the record, then it must be that darn good!

It was my first experience ever watching a movie at midnight. I probably won’t do it for any other movie except for the Twilight Saga. I definitely plan to see it at least 5 more times. I love Robert Pattinson!

I have already seen it twice. Once at midnight at the double feature featuring both twilight films and then again at the very next showing this morning. It was great seeing new moon back to back in a twelve hour period even though I was exhausted. I was at the theater last night from 6oclock to 3am!!! Surprisingly it wasn’t the teenie bopper crowd that frayed at my nerves, it was the middle aged women on a date night with their girls that had one drink to many (I’m from new orleans where alcohol and movie theaters go hand in hand). Never the less, it was a great experience and like JOANNE responded above, I will not do a midnight premiere again unless it is the Twilight Saga!

The movie itself was great. The book is obviously far more better than the movie. I wish they would of added more substance to some of the scenes and concentrated more so on some of the situations that played out in the book, but then i wouldn’t have gotten home till like 5am rather that 3! I will probably see it a few more times before it is released on DVD! I just can’t ever seem to get enough twilight.

I saw the double feature at midnight and I’m going saturday at 11:30am and then again Sunday night. I loved the double feature! The atmosphere was great, everyone was excited and completly hyped for New Moon. There was a bit of goofing off during Twilight (since most if not all of us have seen it before) but you could hear a pin drop during New Moon. I was very pleased that i did not end up in a screaming theater. Im sure ill see it again next weekend if not next week as well. I really love the movie!!!

I sat outside my theate Wednesday night for 10 hours in the freezing cold to buy Midnight tickets at 7am. It was well worth the almost hypothermia. I have never done that before nor will I again except for Eclipse and Breaking Dawn. All I have to say about that is thank god Eclipse is comimg out in the summer. I plan to see the movie again on Saturday and hopefully everyone will have calmed down a bit so I can hear EVERY word that is spoken. There is quite a bit of hollaring when certain parts happened. And then 10-15 seconds of everyone shussshhh. We need a silent way to shush peoples shushing. The movie was amazing thought and it was completely understandable that everyone was excited! Just hope to see it again when it will be silent!

I just saw it and I have to say, SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! (Stamping my feet and waving my hands in the air like a lunatic!)

It was fan-freaking-tastic! Can someone crown Chris Weitz King of the year or somthing?! It was book perfect. I wont spoil it for those who haven’t seen it… but peeps, your in for a treat! Just sayin’.

The Volturi are creepy and frightning beyond beliefe. Fear was always prevellant when they were on screen. The pack, perfect! The Cullens looked soooo much better. The acting was spot on. If I had more then two thumbs I would be sticking them in the air like Roger freaking Ebert.

I crown Chris Weitz, King of Twiland!

With those numbers, just an FYI…Fandango doesn’t sell all online movie tickets…nor do all theaters use Fandango.

There’s a heck of a lot of independent theaters that use their own websites to sell tix.

I was really impressed last night with how well people responded to the film and didn’t have to deal with any really horrible things.

I went to the midnight show with my BF, sis-in law (40) and niece (12). We saw the double feature and totally geeked out with t-shirts too. My BF was a little uncomfortable being in such a minority, but he wanted to see the movie and actually liked it.

I plan on seeing it again before the weekend is out and then, who knows… I ended up seeing Twilight 8 times. It was the first movie I ever went to see by myself, just because I had some free time and was in the mood.

But, honestly, I think the lack of Edward may keep me from seeing NM quite as often as I did Twilight, even though it technically may be a better movie. I was kinda bugged by the way they condensed some pretty key and lovely scenes, and left out some of the best dialog from the end of the book. NM already didn’t have enough vampires, why condense the great scenes that were there?!

OMG 10/sec! I saw it! Thursday after school with two friends, and me and mum are seeing it tomorrow. I plan to see it at least three or four times, coz i only went twice (shock horror!) to Twilight.

Haha :D DD Thats amazing!!! I’ve already seen it three times. I won advance tickets to 9pm showing on Thursday evening, the midnight showing, and i just saw it again tonight. I’m planning on seeing it next week during Thanksgiving break, and MANY more times after that.
