One of the biggest debates surrounding the Twilight saga is whether readers are ‘Team Edward’, ‘Team Jacob’, or ‘Team Switzerland’. So we here at TA will be covering each team over the next few weeks for our Top Ten Tuesday segment, and we’ll be giving you the top ten reasons to be on each team.

 

So to kick it off this week, TA Staffer KrazyEm brings us:
The Top Ten Reasons to Be Team Edward:

10. Because he’ll hold your drink for you when you need to use your hands, and he’ll keep it cold, too. Not to mention he can be your personal ice-pack when you have a Bella moment.

9. He’s a vampire and they’ve been around for centuries whereas werewolves are just new inventions. (Quote courtesy of Rob Pattinson)

8. He won’t fall asleep and drool all over you.

7. Who needs a disco ball when you have Edward? Just take him outside and dance it up ’cause he sparkles!

6. He’s a gentleman and will offer you choices.

5. He won’t stink like a wet dog if you wash him.

4. Jacob may run a 108° temperature but Edward’s still hotter.

3. He’ll whisper sweet nothings in your ear in many different languages as well as quote Romeo & Juliet verbatim.

2. Because, in the end, he got the girl!

1. He is portrayed by Robert Pattinson….need we say more?

    Haha, yes! If only all guys could be like that…. I especially like #9, I was thinking “Oh, BURN!” That was too funny! Another great one is that he can carry you like you weigh nothing! I like that, especially for us poor fat people! Haha, ok well I’m not that fat- but it’s very uncomfortable when you think your like hurting a guy if you sit on his lap or he tries to pick you up…. so definitely wouldn’t mind Edward’s superhuman strength! :D

    I don’t like #9 because it isn’t true. In the legends told in Eclipse the Werewolves have been around for centuries. Yes they did just start coming back again since the Cullen’s returned, but the tribe had a long history of changing way before any of the Cullen’s were around the area.

    And no I’m not team Jacob pointing this out, I’m Switzerland, I love both characters in different ways. I just want to keep the balance!

    Well. Actually, that’s not the only reason. Edward is just plain amazing. Plus he’s a vampire. Vampires are so much better than werewolves!

    I’m not even team edward -I’m team switzerland- but that was a pretty sweet list. I’ve gotta say; number 4 and number 1 are my favourites.
    i love love love edward. he’s so cool. and yeah, vampires are better than werewolves. [[to be honest I don’t really know why I’m team switzerland, I just sort of don’t want to be mean to jacob lol.

    9. He is not 100 years old… (Euw)
    8. Atleast he is a dog you dont have to pick up the poop after… ;)
    7. He will not always be young, so you don´t have to feel old
    6. He got abs. A much sexier body than Ed.
    5. You can kiss him, without worrying about being bitten.
    4. He will keep you warm (and your coffee, tea or what ever other drink you have).
    3. He is stronger and faster than Edward.
    2. He will be there for you, and never leave you like Edward.

    Not to be a party pooper here, but werewolf legends have been around just as long as vampire legends……as far as the Twilight Saga goes, they have been in the Forks area LONGER than the vamps, because their legends tell of the first one to come. This would lead me, and anyone else with a logical brain, to realize that werewolves were in Forks before vamps. Sorry! I only speak the truth, and I SWEAR I wasn’t doing this to be rude or annoying.

    Sara Cullen & MusicLover0137: Just to clarify – Rob had said as a joke in an interview that “vampires have been around forever, whereas werewolves are new inventions”. That’s where the quote was from – we all know there’s no truth to it! =)

    Team Edward all the way! # 10: “he is your personal ice-pack when you have a Bella moment” is like me and my friends so much! Instead of being a clutz we have Bella moments. And when its really cold we say stuff like, “I need a werewolf” or “Where is Seth when I need him?” none of us really like Jacob that much

    My biggest reason for disliking Team Jacob is that it is rooted in infidelity. Jacob is the other man. He goes after a girl who is in a relationship and that shows a lack of character. He is also self-oriented. His feelings for Bella come across as obsessive infatuation that is wrong and would be hurtful. I don’t think Bella would be happy with Jacob. The appeal of the ship is that illicit longoing and unrequited “love.” Their friendship dynamic would be ruined with romance. That electricity and bond would diminish as soon as they become a couple. I don’t like the dumping your tortured boyfriend for a younger guy who is obsessed with you and doesn’t mind bringing drama into your life dynamic. Jacob would degrade Bella. I think Bella likes the angst and drama, would be bored with Jacob. Jacob likes Bella because she is forbidden fruit. If he got her, he would lose interest in her.
    Jacob is the potential homewrecker in the story.

    loyalty, compassion, empathy, and enduring hardship & pain together.
    The romance with Edward changed Bella’s miserable life and is the foundation of Twilight. Edward and Bella are both damaged, tortured, and need each other to find inner peace & self-actualization. Edward cares about Bella so much, he is willing to let go of her if he thinks it is best for her. Jacob just cares about getting the prize. Edward is mysterious, complex, and intriguing. I do wish that Stephanie Myers had developed his character more and gave him more time with Bella instead of focusing on the infidelity with Jacob.
