Twilight’s “Charlie Swan” Added to the Bill at 2009 TwiCon Fan Conference

Billy Burke – who appears as “Charlie Swan” in the Summit Entertainment film “Twilight” – has confirmed his attendance at TwiCon ’09 – which will be held July 30-Aug. 2, 2009 at the Sheraton Dallas Hotel and Convention Center. The convention is an homage to the series of books authored by Stephenie Meyer.

Adding to the excitement of today’s announcement is the unveiling of a new contest that will award two fans the chance to be front and center at the star-studded question-and-answer session during the TwiCon event. Fans are asked to submit a commercial as a “video response” to TwiCon’s official YouTube announcement of the contest. TwiCon organizers will narrow down the top five entries, and the public will select one winner who will earn the front row spots at the Q & A with the stars. Fans MUST be registered to attend TwiCon to be eligible to win the video contest, so sign up now (and view complete rules) at www.TwiCon.org.

Other stars already confirmed at TwiCon include Peter Facinelli – starring as Dr. Carlisle Cullen in the fall blockbuster; Jackson Rathbone – who portrays Jasper Hale; Kellan Lutz (Emmett Cullen), Ashley Greene (Alice Cullen) and Mike Welch (Mike Newton). The stars will join the Mitch Hansen Band; series expert Bailey (NoMoreMarbles); bands Twilight Music Girls and The Bella Cullen Project; Kaleb the Twilight Guy; and parody group Evil Iguana Productions as special guests at the fan fest. Additional appearance announcements regarding the cast will be made at www.TwiCon.org throughout the coming months.

Organizers of TwiCon expect more than 2,500 registrants to descend on Dallas for the fan fest, sponsored by Twilight Teez and Manic Panic, among others.

The event is expected to feature a Twilight movie screening, live Twilight inspired band performances, the Volturi Masque Ball, opportunities to meet Twilight cast, dozens of breakout sessions, panels, workshops and more, as well as a Vendor Hall where dozens of vendors will offer items and collectibles inspired by the Twilight books and movie. The event also will feature an Artists’ Alley fan exhibition of handmade art and goods. With “New Moon”, the sequel to “Twilight” and the second book in the series, slated to begin filming soon TwiCon anticipates a surge of interest from fans and media alike.

All-inclusive tickets for the convention are $255 and available at www.TwiCon.org. Those interested in participating as a vendor at the event may purchase their booth space for $750 through the www.TwiCon.org website.

I think Billy Burke has yet to receive the attention he deserves for his role in Twilight. The moustache alone was phenom! He played Charlie so well. And, wow, a group of us were thinking about attending the Dallas TwiCon, so now we are def going. Eek….to be able to meet him for 2 seconds would be so cool.

Dallas in the summer? Not EVEN for Twilight. It’s like Chicago in the winter? Not Even for Twilight, either. But England anytime? Maybe!!!

I think Mr Burke gets a bad rap cause he has an attitude with Edward in the books, but Billy is hot for an old dude.

Team Charlie ALL the way! Billy was brilliant in the role and added some great comic relief and even a hint of vulnerability AND had some very funny “ultimate dad” moments.

If you get Gil Birmingham, Billy Black, there, you sold two more tickets. He is, mmmmm yeah!
