ADDICTEDTOEDWARD: TWILIGHT TWIBBLE WINNER FOR THE MONTH OF JUNE

Posted June 1st, 2009 By: 3 Comments »

What is a Twibble you may ask…..it’s a Twilight Drabble – or what we like to call, Twibble!

For those of you who aren’t familiar with drabbles, a drabble is a work of fiction that is extremely short, less than 1000 words long. Drabble contests allow an author to test their skills at expressing interesting and meaningful ideas in a confined space.

In our Twibble Contest, you will be given a quote from the Twilight Saga and you must use that quote somewhere in your twibble. For our purposes, a twibble can be no longer than 250 words and must be related to the Twilight universe.

Each month’s winner will be given some TA bookmarks.

AddictedToEdward, winner for June!

“I didn’t realize vampires marked occasions such as anniversaries.” Bella sounded embarrassed as I fastened my mother’s pocket watch around her neck. I’d hidden it in my room in the main house. “I’m sorry; I don’t have a gift for you, Edward.”

I kissed her neck. “That doesn’t matter. Let’s go home and celebrate, alone. Rose can watch Nessie.”

We raced to the cottage. With Bella’s newborn strength spent, I won easily. Immediately upon opening the door, I smelled something different. Something old, yet somehow familiar too. The memory nagged at me, faded and dim – a human memory.

Then I saw it. My mouth opened, but no sound came out. I walked across the room and stroked the dark wood ever so gently. I sat on the bench as my fingers danced over the black and white keys. I turned to see Bella watching me, smiling widely.

“Bella, how …when …This is a 1900 Steinway Model K, the very piano my mother owned when I was a child. How did you know?”

“Carlisle. He saw the piano when you went back to your home to get your mother’s jewelry. He remembered it in perfect detail and described it to me. I did some research on the Internet.” She shrugged, as if this wasn’t an amazing feat.

She stood behind me, her hands on my shoulders, as I began to play her lullaby. “I don’t ever want to hear any more grief about my acting abilities, got it?”

A little about AddictedToEdward

My name is Christie, and I’m a 30-something Twilight Mom. I am currently a stay-at-home-mom although I do have degrees in Information Technology and Computer Science. I used to be fairly normal. Then I read Twilight and fell completely in love with the story, and especially, Edward Cullen. I became obsessed very quickly and my life practically revolves itself around Twilight these days – catching up on the latest news, checking out photos of New Moon, thinking about my next fan fiction, creating pages for my Twilight scrapbook, listening to the Twilight soundtrack, you get the picture. My husband has read the books (and seen the movie) and I enjoy having discussions with him about different facets of the saga. My Twilight obsession has rubbed off on my son as well – he knows quite a bit about Twilight for a 4-yr-old and even has a favorite character (Emmett). Besides Twilight, I have several hobbies that keep me busy in my free time: scrap booking, quilting, needlework, knitting, and most recently, writing.

My interest in writing fiction started in elementary school, with the encouragement of one of my teachers. In high school, I wrote some fan fiction based on characters of my favorite author at the time, V.C. Andrews. I even joined an online writer’s club – back in the day when you had to sign up with a service such as Prodigy or Compuserve to access the internet, and you could only communicate with people on the same service as you. Somewhere between early high school and college, I stopped writing, to focus on computers and my future career. (Being a stay-at-home-mom was not part of the original plan but I wouldn’t change it for anything.)

In January 2009, I started writing again, inspired by the fan fiction challenges at Novel Novice Twilight (http://www.twilightnovelnovice.com/ ). Once started, I couldn’t stop! I love playing with the characters, dissecting what they might do in a certain situation, and trying to mimic the ‘tone’ of each individual character. I’m very left-brained and so my writing is methodical and slow and I research more details than probably necessary. I have really enjoyed the Twibble contests because they challenge me not only to limit the story to 250 words but also to finish in a short deadline. Someday I hope to be a published author, but for now, I’m happy to play with the fan fiction. All of my fan fiction is posted on my blog (http://blog.mooberrydreams.com/search/label/twilight%20fan%20fiction ). There’s not much yet, because I’m such a slow writer, but I have three more pieces in the works.

Twilighters Anonymous is the website I go to first for all things Twilight. I didn’t read Twilight until September 2008, and of course by then the hype for the movie was BIG. I became obsessed with checking IMDB’s news feed for Twilight news, until I finally realized most articles came from one site called Twilighters Anonymous. I decided to go right to the source and I haven’t left yet! I love how TA has grown over the last few months and I can’t wait to see what you guys have in store for us next!

Congrats AddictedToEdward.
