TWILIGHT BILLBOARD IN AUSTRALIA

TA fan Nicki has gotten images from a huge Twilight billboard in Australia:


 
Here is what Nicki had to say:
Hi guys,
I’m a devoted Twilighter living in Australia, and Twilight is obviously not getting as much hype in Australia as it is in America. This is why I was so surprised (and excited) to come across this Twilight billboard in
Queensland, Australia when I was traveling (see attached photos).

I just thought it was awesome to know that Twilight billboards are popping
up globally!

Thanks for sharing that with us Nicki! I want one!!! But if I tried to steal one, I’m pretty sure they’d catch me LOL! Shhh don’t tell, but does anyone want to help me….??? WAIT, we can’t end up in jail before the movie comes out, cause it would be REAL REAL bad if we miss opening night of Twilight.

Hmm maybe we can just go stand by one of them and like touch James. That sounds wrong, so maybe not.

Have any other Australian fans seen this billboard? Where exactly is it, street wise? Do you like it? or is it kinda creepy?

    I’m actually from Seattle (Forks is only 4 hours away!) and I spent the month of September traveling all around Australia. I actually was surprised to see how popular Twilight is there. When I arrived in Sydney I saw an Asian guy (yes, a GUY) reading the first book and he was so engrossed he actually dropped his carry-on luggage, which amused me greatly. I also took photos of anything Twilight-related I came across, mostly posters in bookstore windows advertising the books. I met an American randomly at the top of the Sydney Tower. She’s a grad student studying abroad and student teachers part-time. She told me that many of her 3rd-grade students were into the books, as was she. :-) I did find that a lot of actual Ozzies weren’t as aware of the phenomenon, but I imagine with the coming visit of the Twilight cast down under, that will change.

    Ive seen the cinema cutouts and thats about it :(

    hey im from australia, and discovered the twilight books when twilight first came out. i live four hrs away from sydney, and had to travel there to get a copy of the first three book as non eof the bookstore where i live sold any of them. it has only been since the realease of breaking dawn has the phenonmonen really taken off and now everygril in every high school is reading all the say and all the bookstores intown have endless copies of the saga. im really glad the saga phenonmonen has reac hed the point where they have billboards in australia, but i a little disappointed it has taken so long for the rest of the country to realise the genius of stephanie meyer and the twilight saga.

    Very exciting! There’s a billboard the same as the one in the photo in Melbourne at the junction of Dandenong Rd/St Kilda Rd/Punt Rd. Very busy intersection. I saw it last night but didn’t have my phone to take a photo! I’ll be back there and take a snap though!!! Never thought I’d be so excited over a billboard….

    my friend JUST told me that there is a huge poster/billboard on the side of a building along parramatta rd at broadway!
    i NEED to see this. im so jealous of her right now lol

    I live in Sydney but am in queensland for a holiday n i saw a TWILIGHT billboard yesterday. I screamed out and nearly drove our rented Van off the road…oops! All of my family think i’m crazy,…but they just need to read the books!
    Aussies love twilight and can’t wait for the movie in Dec!

    Hey, I’m Nicki, the one who found the billboard in the picture.
    In case anyone is wondering, it is on the Gold Coast, at Palm Beach, on the Gold Coast Highway at 8th Avenue (visible when heading South towards Coolangatta, on the right hand side of the road, just near the Mobil service station).
    I can’t wait to go find the billboard in Sydney now!

    Too bad i don’t live in Queensland – i live in Victoria and i haven’t seen anything Twilight related at all – no billboards or anything else – the only thing that i’ve seen that’s even twilight related was an article from the recent issue of Dolly (Rihanna on the cover) and a bit of nothing-new-to-me stuff about Rob, Cam, Kellan and Taylor – but Jackson wasn’t in it and i waz like “What? how can he not be in it.” Anyways and there is a full page ad also at the end of the magazine which i’m gonna be using as a poster. Why does twilight have to be released on 11th December – i wanna see it now or even 21st November like in America! WHYYYY???? :(

    I live in Queensland and i hav been just waiting for a billboard to pop up, But i’m on the Sunny Coast so i doubt they will put one up here. Are any of the Aussie fans goin to the Covention? Apparently the tickets have sold out, what a bummer i really wanted to go!
    Well i just have to say: Twilight Rules! December release date is to far away and Twilight rules!

    I live on the Gold Coast in Australia, and i can’t believe there is a billboard here!! The next chance i get, i am going to see it, To get photos galore!!!
    There is still another 30 days till the movie here, compared to the 10 days in USA
    Which i find rather depressing!!!
    Im a major twilight fan! Pretty much all my life revolves around it
    I got more twilight merch in the mail today! WOO!!
    But im soooo excited for this movie i dont think i can wait much longer
    Ill just have to keep watching all the trailers and what not
    YAY for Twilight!!!

    OME i know how depressing is it that the americans are starting their 10 day countdown, and we still have like 30 days to go in Australia!! If I could afford it I’d hop on a plane and fly to America for November 21!!

    OMJ that billboard is near me!! So driving out just to bask in its awesomeness! Actually I’m just excited that Twilight is finally showing up around the place!
    Darn exchange rate though, I can’t buy any merch right now because of it!

    Haha I can’t believe they put one up in the Gold Coast and not somewhere like Sydney or Melbourne. Hopefully Perth will get one…

    In case you wanted to know, that’s Palm Beach in Queensland. :D All you needed to do was google Byrne and Miller (the chartered accountants sign that you can see in the picture) and it comes up with Byrne and Miller on 8th Avenue (as the street sign says) in Palm Beach.

    Some detective work for you there!

    I saw one on Long Island in Hauppauge it looked just like that one except it said in theaters nov. 21st. It was awesome but I didn’t get a pic =[

    OMG… i cant wait to go to melbourne and see these. if they are QLD they have to be in melb.
    Twilight is huge in Aus.
    no doubt about it.
    but its kind of a fairly new craze. i read Twilight more then a year ago and since i havent read another book, nothing will ever compare to Twilight EVER :) :)
    im so annoyed that it comes out december 11 though.
    im in Japan then :@
    oh well hopefully it will still be in cinemas.
    but TWILIGHT IS HUGE IN THE LAND OF AUS :)

    WHY DO YANKS GET EVERYTHING B4 AUSSIES?????? I can’t believe its still 30 days til premiere, but also it feels close coz ive been waiting for dec11 for absolute ages!!!
    I really hope twilight makes big publicity in South West WA. *sigh* Fat chance!
    Movie posters at the theatres are prolly the biggest its gonna get in our very small city.
    Me and my best friend are actually planning to go to a movie just for the twilight trailer!
    It is good to hear some Aus action going on at TA. Well Done everyone for keeping the Australian Twilight spirit alive!!!WOO GO TWILIGHT!!!

    I found one today! I live in the most isolated city (Perth, WA) and I was so surprised to find it smack bang on the huge billboard building near Wellington Bus station. I have to go back and take a photo! Absolutely loving the new Twilight trailers and cannot wait for the film!

    im in perth australia and cant believe americans! (grr) im only 12yrs old and started the hole craze of twilight in my WHOLE school! twilight is the bomb and i wish edward will bite me!!!
    garden city is doing a comp of you can win 2 tickets to see the preview screening of twilight on the 11 of dec and i hope i win them!!!!
    i love twilight and read the series 5 times strait!
    i love E>C and he makes a great couple wit bellA! :)

    there’s a twilight billboard in melbourne in the city… you can see it when you go into melbourne from the west (across the west-gate bridge)

    hi guys i am just as absessed as u are,i even sneak my ipod to shcool so me and my friends can watch the trailor. i have not seen the billboard in melbourne and i live there what suburb and street is it in. i can’t wait till the movie! it’s out tommorow. P.S we were going to see it for grade 6 day out but the boys said no and the princible aswell cause it’s M in Aus.P.P.S i’m reading the whole saga again cause theres noting else i want to read.

    Hey Guys! OMG! I remember that! That’s because I live just around the corner of that billboard! Lol, me and my friend always used to walk past there and everytime we looked up and saw it we’d get all hyper xD
