GETTING TRAMPLED UNDERFOOT AND B-ROLL FOOTAGE

Posted November 10th, 2008 By: wolfsbane 13 Comments »

Hello Twilighters! Coming on the heels of the unfortunate event in San Francisco, I’d like to just remind all the Twilighters out there to be careful and try to respect your fellow fans. Twilight fans have generally been known to be a very friendly bunch with much to share with each other, but we all can get caught up in the excitement. It pained me to hear of fans getting hurt and parents getting very upset. That’s the last thing we need right now is for parents to be paranoid about letting their kids watch the movie for fear of anything happening. You all know how they can over react. *wink wink*

So, lets try and behave ourselves, as some people who were there reportedly flew in from as far as Hawaii and other places just to be there. That’s a few dreams ruined and much money wasted. Some were even physically hurt in the process. I wouldn’t wish that on anyone and my heart goes out to them. I just hope they don’t lose their enthusiasm for the film and series. Also, Rob P might have been endowed with vampire superpowers but I bet even he would be a little worried about having a stampede of 3,000 fans running after his sparkly butt.

*note: Not the scene in San Francisco, just a random stampede.

Anyway, I certainly hope that this also serves as a reminder to Hot Topic and any malls/venues hoping to host Twilight related events. WE ARE LEGION! Please, please, please do not underestimate the following of this movie and book and be properly prepared for it. A little added security and staff to keep things in order would have helped immensely.

In other news, awesome movie trailer site Trailer Addict posted 15 full minutes of B-roll footage from the Twilight film. It’s a montage of juicy behind the scenes stuff that gives us a different perspective on how some of the scenes were shot, including the technical aspects. Check it out:

It kind of puts things in perspective huh? I mean for KS to act all smitten and gooey in love and for Rob to project his inner undead and well, smolder and stuff, in front of all those people! How do you think you’ll handle that?

Well, Rob Pattinson isn’t coming to my town, so I think that kind of tones the fandom down a little. It’ll only be Taylor and Edi, but I’ll be honest, if the crowd looks out of control when I get there to buy my ticket, I simply will not go and oh well. I’m a little worried though especially for Rob! I hope that the Hot Topics get advised to have a organize system and lots fo added security to keep it clean and organized.

I was one of the many people who drove over two hours today to Stonestown Galleria, San Francisco, CA(there were also many who came from up to 10 hours away), and stood in line for a cancelled event. The management of the event was the problem. There was a complete disregard for security for this event. Why didn’t Hot Topic or Stonestown Galleria have security to organize the line, have cones up, ropes up, or something to help people form a line in the front? My daughters are very disappointed, not because they didn’t get a wristband/t-shirt and autograph, but because they had no chance of getting a wristband with the horrible security and disorganization of the event. They should re-schedule it and do it RIGHT!!!!!!!!

  • caity

i’m going to try to get a wristband tomorrow morning here in dallas. after reading this article, i sacrificed an extra hour of sleep and decided to wake up at 3 am to go to the galleria. of course i don’t have to drive longer than 10-15 minutes to get there but i’m scared for my safety. i hope there is more control here than in san francisco. in fact, my hope in getting a wristband is a little diminished by the statistics of this rob pattinson event. i just hope no one gets fatally injured in the future, because people can die from getting crushed by crowds, and if the security doesn’t beef up, it could happen. i hope rob realizes that he’s worth taking that risk. :)

ohhhh my goodness…when he is playing the piano…like the actual fact that you can hear rob playing too just made me melt. that was AMAZING.

on the down side, i do kind of feel like i just watched the whole movie…mmm i really need to practice some serious self control & stop watching all of these clips! : )

  • Kirstyn

when i saw that pic of the stampede, i actually though that that was it… scared me a lot…

  • Laura

You know, the event was un-canceled afterwards?

When Stonestown and the HotTopic store opened they sold the wristbands and t-shirts to the people who were still waiting and to people who could afford to get down there in time.

Very unfair to everyone who waited and then left because they said it was canceled.

  • Jenna

I was at the San Francisco signing. The reason the event was poorly organized was because of the fact that hot topic didn’t even tell the mall he was coming. When loads of girls were showing up, there was one mall security guard. There were no barricades, no nothing. It was…an epic failure on Hot Topic’s part.

When they said it was cancelled, my friends and I left, and we were in the position to be in the 500. But because they lied, we weren’t.

If you got screwed over by the events in San Francisco, PLEASE join this group and report it to the Better Business Bureau:

I loved the B-roll footage. It was awesome! I am super excited about the movie. I know it is not an exact play-by-play of the book, but I think it is gonna be as close as you can get it. The author had a lot of influence over the film and I think that will make it really special.

  • BB

that was a great video! only down part is it feels like a watched the whole movie LOL… I know now every scene.. which kind of sucks, but it has gotten me even MORE pumped for the movie! — if that is even possible.
