AUSTRALIA VOTES TWILIGHT INTO 2ND PLACE
The Cranberra Times is reporting that although Harry Potter was ranked #1 on for Australia’s favorite read, Twilight is in second place. They explain the process and other entries below:
The Angus & Robertson Top 100 list, promoted as a snapshot of the nation’s reading habits, ranks Stephenie Meyer’s blockbuster Twilight in second place, behind J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series. More than 26,000 people voted for the list, which includes 52 new titles.Traditional literature still has its fans, with classics such as Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice (No3), Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird (No6) and Emily Bronte’s Wuthering Heights (No28) constituting 13 per cent of the list.
It’s pretty wild that Twilight was voted number 2 when Wuthering Heights and Pride and Prejudice were in the mix. I don’t think I agree with that, but the Australian fans have spoken. What do you think? Is Twilight in your top 5 list of books EVER?
