TWILIGHT MOVIE REVIEWS ROLLING IN....

TWILIGHT MOVIE REVIEWS ROLLING IN….

TWILIGHT MOVIE REVIEWS ROLLING IN….

Many newspapers and magazines are reviewing the Twilight movie. Some reviews are good, some are bad but they all have spoilers.
It’s up to you if you want to read them (or not):

Chicago Tribune
“Low-key” is not the adjective you’d expect to describe a highly anticipated vampire movie, but there it is. Click here for review.

Variety
The result is a supernatural romance in which the supernatural and romantic elements feel rushed, unformed and insufficiently motivated, leaving audiences with little to do but shrug and focus on the eye-candy. Click here for review.

Newsday
That would be fitting: “Twilight” already seems like a work of camp, unintentionally amusing and lacking any sense of its own goofiness. Click here for review.

Silly sexual tension turns ‘Twilight’ into camp. Click here for review.

Seth Meyer (Stephenie Meyer’s brother)
“Although I am not a movie critic, I feel compelled to tell everyone what I thought about the movie. The first question everyone seems to ask is ‘was it as good as the book?’ The answer is ‘no’.” To read his full review, click here.

I haven’t seen it. I will refrain from talking crap about the movie for now. I will say, a few of these are just mean and I think they only want attention. Capitalizing on Twilight has become way too easy.

ohhh no. I haven’t seen the movie yet either (obviously hahaha) and I probably shouldn’t be makin assuptions, but these articles make me kinda nervous, not gonna lie.

let’s jut cross our fingers and hope that catherine and rob made it awesome, and these critics are just being mean!!

  2. twilightfan14 responded:

Many people, especially men, are biased against vampire stories plus men don’t like romance. I don’t know how many of these reviewers are male, but I bet it’s most of them. They can’t be objective because they went in thinking they would hate it-that becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. I think this movie is critic-proof and none of these reviews will matter. So, everybody, don’t panic. We will get our 150 million-we will make sure of that.

  3. jesslyn responded:

I’ve skimmed through some of the reviews and they are all by men with all the talk about special effects. sheesh.

  4. She runs with vampires responded:

This is bad for Catherine, the cast. I typically don’t listen to reviews and they didn’t sign on for the notoriety but I want it to do well so we’ll have sequels which is still a possibility. I know lots of people that WILL NOT see a movie if they hear it got bad reviews. I don’t want to panic but I feel like Marie, This makes me nervous too.

  5. zophie responded:

Well, I’m really nervous. Not for me, but for those who haven’t read the books even going to the movie. All of us who read them are going but we need others to go, too. I’m planning on going several times, reviews be damned. I really want New Moon so I hope this movie makes the money it needs to. All the reviews from ACTUAL Twilighters are great. The ones from those whos JOB it is to criticise have it lukewarm to negetive. ::shrugs:: I’m still gonna be crazy tomorrow night with all the other fans, wearing my Team Jacob shirt and flair. Because where else can we be insane for the thing we so love? We are FANS of something great. Of something WE KNOW is great! Twilight is still ours and will always be ours even if the critical world tries to tear it down.

As I watch the trailers for this movie I think to my self….been there seen that, and as I read the plot for the movie I think the same thing, I have been told by many people that I will love the book beacuse of my mature nature wich leads me to belive there is going to be alot of things cut out of the movie for the ression that you have to know that alot of younger kids ( middle school kids) are going to go see the movie and with all the talk about not having sex…… you know this movie does not want to start off on a bad note. My GF is in love with this book and I am scared this movie will do the book more harm then good, the resion the harry potter movies where a hit is beacuse they where great from the frist movie… I just think the plot of the book is something that as been done in movies way to many times before….the only thing that will make this movie worth while is the detail

  7. Tia responded:

I couldn’t agree with Zophie even more! It ultimately not up to the critics to make the decision of Twilight as a movie, but to the real fans the Twilight Saga and of Stephenie Meyer. I honestly don’t want people to hang on every word of the critic because they weren’t the ones that waited months for this movie to happen. They are not the ones who want the sequels made. I know that their reviews are starting to make the people antsy and nervous, but we know for a fact that based on the trailers and TV spots alone that the movie looks pretty good. I’m not going to say perfect (what book-to-movie adaptation usually is), but at least extremely good. I’m in Baltimore, MD and a radio station had this to say about the movie: “I went to the midnight showing of Twilight at [a popular theater in Baltimore] and it was so packed that they had to open like 2 or 3 more viewing rooms just to fit all the people, and they already was showing the movie in 3 theaters!”

Another DJ said that 56% of the critics gave the movie thumbs down, BUT that 50% of the 56 haven’t read the books. I honestly think that it is reading the books beforehand helps the viewer understand many of the back stories to the Cullens, the relationship between Bella and Edward, the reason for the vampires’ “vegetarianism” and why the author wrote the book without all the sex, gore, and blood. That’s what these critics are looking for, the typical vampire, and since they haven’t read the books and they don’t know the storyline the go into the movie looking for what they know vampires to normally be: sex-filled, blood thirsty, FANGED, god-like creatures always on the hunt; and that is NOT what Twilight is about.

As long as the fans realize that it is up to us to be the deciding factor if success is to happen for Twilight. The Critics get paid to pass judgment and they got to view the movie for free just to tell us whether or not we should waste our time and money to see a movie that many of us anticipated for months! It was the FANS that have set out in early morning weather and long lines; it was the FANS that ventured stampeding, rioting, long nights and bruises to catch a glimpse of their favorite Twilight character, so it will be the FANS who will determine how much this movie stands to make (I WANT TO SEE NEW MOON AND ECLIPSE MADE TO MOVIE DAMMIT), not critics. It just hurts me to know that the critics’ negativity will cost Twilight potential movie-goers or fans that based their decision on their reviews; thus causing people to miss out on potentially decent movie. So come on Twilighters and Twi-Hards…let’s show them how dedicated we fans really are!!!!!!

  8. Kirsten responded:

Well now, I consider myself to be a fan of S-Dawg’s series, that is the first three books only, the last book is a pitiful attempt at writing but this site is about the Twilight movie so… I just saw the movie.. If you look at it as a movie, just a movie, it sucks! BUT, if you look at the movie as a book made into a movie it’s alright. It did get all the main points, and there were some pretty hot guys. But you have to look at it as a movie from the book, and you have to have actually have read the book to enjoy it. Oh and by the way, I don’t understand why everyone’s all TEAM TAYLOR! He’s hardly in the movie at all. Oh one last thing, Robert was amazing, I don’t care what anyone says. He is an amazing actor and he totally rocked Edward. :]

  9. Muthabeotch responded:

Read the books, saw the movie and was disappointed. However, brought 14yr old son to movie, and now he wants to read the books.

Win one - got the kid to want to read, so it was “good enough”.

I hope if they really do “New Moon” it’s not so cheezy and cryptic - the movie seems to assume the audience has read the book.

  10. Persephony responded:

I read the books and I didn’t know there was a movie until my sister told me. I loved the books they were good however I went to see the movie and I had high expectations for the movie but I was let down. I’m sorry I even went it was horrible. Bad acting is one reason, and I felt the whole movie was rushed especially the James vs Edwad bit.

  11. Shannon ! responded:

    Twilight the movie sucked yes,
BUT the books are greattt. I have read the three first ones and i mustt say that they are brilliant (:
    Movie sucked though

  12. Isla responded:

The movie was terrible. How can you leave out the scene that was the starting point for the entire book? Stephenie Meyers created the whole book on the dream she had of a vampire and a human discussing their “relationship” in a meadow. And yes, the movie would have been long if they had kept every scene in but did they have to waste film putting in scenes that didn’t exist in the first place? (take a look at Harry Potter movies, they leave stuff out but they NEVER alter the original story) A field trip to a green house? A back story for 3 vampires who don’t even appear until the end of the book? Vampires cooking for a human? A tree climbing escapade out of Edwards window?
Look, I’m no actor or acting coach but it seemed to me like no one in the cast had ever acted before in their lives. Kristen Stewart was HORRIBLE. Bella isn’t supposed to be boring a dull. And poor Robert Pattinson…how does one express all the emotions that Edward does throughout the books? By looking like he’s confused the whole time I suppose. And the actor who plays Carlise. I believe the last movie I saw him in was “Can’t hardly wait” were he played a drunk jock at a post graduation party. And don’t get me started on Jasper!!! What a joke!
Here’s the point, every teenage girl in the world will fall all over this movie due to the hotties. Forget that the special effects date back to 1980 and the script could have been written by a 6 year old. The sequel is in production and we should all be terrified. New Moon will expect even more from the actors and I just don’t think they can perform.
If I was Stepenie Meyers I would halt the movies and be happy with the books.
