Valentines Day Ecards

TWILIGHT IS SELLING OUT, ALREADY!

Posted November 6th, 2008 By: 19 Comments »

Well, maybe that $150 million is do-able. Check out the statistics that are already coming out:

LOS ANGELES(RushPRnews)11/06/08-”Twilight” doesn’t open until two weeks from tonight (at midnight), but Fandango is reporting that nearly 100 show times for the November 21 release are already sold-out across the nation, from Sacramento, California to Gainesville, Florida.

Twilight accounts for 63% of all ticket sales on Fandango, the nation’s largest movie ticketing destination, outpacing those of High School Musical 3 at the same point in that film’s sales cycle (two weeks before release date).

A few new stats from our ongoing Twilight moviegoers survey on Fandango.com (as of 11/6/08):
• 87% of respondents said they saw the trailers and clips online;
• 92% said the trailers and clips made they want to buy a ticket to the movie;
• 73% are most excited to see Robert Pattinson as Edward (respondents were asked to choose one Twilight character they were most excited to see portrayed on the big screen);
• 31% of Twilight moviegoers are 17 or under; 28% are 18-24; 22% are 25-34; 16% are 35-49; 3% are 50 or over.

$150 million scares me, I hope we can pull that off – for all of them including Catherine and Melissa. The numbers are looking good so far although I wish they’d tell us exactly how much they’ve made in pre-sales. That might help us know if we still have hope. What do you think of the stats? Have you purchased your tickets yet?

    I’ve got tix purchased for opening weekend and the 2 following.
    Didn’t want to be caught out not being able to get in to the theatre…

  • Ana

    I at first thought it was $125 million but then I was re-reading the article and it said $150 million. WHOA! That does worry me, then again it says that Catherine was “guestimating,” so I’m sure if it get’s close enought or even if it just makes $100 million that they’ll definitely continue filming.

    I bought tickets to the midnight showing on 11/20. Then I bought tickets for 11/21 for the morning after. Hopefully, it’ll be quiet in the morning showing, lol. But yea I do plan on seeing this movie 3-4 times, I KNOW I’m going to love it.

    Yes! This makes me even more excited! And, yes, I’ve already bought my tickets! I purchased them last night, I’m going to a midnight release of it! I can’t believe it’s only two weeks away! To say I’m excited would be an understatement! I just hope it’s as good as I think it will be. But from everything I’ve seen I think it will be pretty great!

  • Hannah

    Yes, I got my tickets for the midnight showing! I plan to buy more and go multiple times that weekend but my theater isn’t selling them yet. Stupid.

  • Chancy Rose

    I bought 1 for an early showing the first day they went on sale (and got my “Bella’s Lullaby” download from iTunes!)–no midnight showing for me; I don’t want to go deaf from all the screaming–and my friends and I bought ours for our girl’s afternoon out at the theater box office a couple days later.

    I’ll probably wait till the leading edge of the Pattz-mania dies down and go again. ;-)

  • Rachel

    i actually didnt order my tickets from fandango. i got it from the actual movie theater because they dont sell those tickets or any tickets online. But they are going fast there 2. i got mine a week ago. and i live in NYC.

  • zophie

    I picked up five tix for the midnight showing for me and my friends already. I know I’m going every day opening weekend, so that’s at least two to three more times. We must all go at least the first two days so they might greenlight New Moon. I really want to see the shape shifters get introduced.

  • VanessaC

    Yes!!! THIS is the kinda news I wanna hear!! AWESOMENESS!!! btw, I bought my tickets on Fandango, so I’m part of that 63%… makes me feel special lol. and btw, it was really funny b/c when I was working yesterday (i work at a movie theater), literally the same amount of ppl that came and bought tickets to see a movie that day (we dont get much business during the week) came and bought tickets for the midnight showing of Twilight… YAY! it made me really happy, plus I of course got to talk to every customer that bought tickets about Twilight, which was really cool b/c I love meeting other Twilighters… oh and btw, out of all the ppl that bought tickets, like, only two of them were teenagers, the rest were adults (and, for the most part, not even young adults- more in the 30-40s range)- so take THAT everyone who says this movie’s only for teens. OME one thing I LOVE about my job is selling Twilight tickets… it makes me so happy every time! and then, get this (I got paid for the first time yesterday and proceeded to quickly blow all my money on Twilight stuff that I’ve been wanting for forever but never had the money to get) as I’m checking out of Wal-Mart and buying my Twilight movie companion and new copy of the paperback Twilight with the movie cover and poster, the guy that’s checking me out is like, “oh, so I assume you’re a Twilight fan and you’re excited about the movie coming out? I’m being forced to see it opening night…” and we start talking and apparently he had a fiancee who is a huge Twilight fan and she was taking him w/her to see it opening night, and I’m like, “Well, hopefully you won’t hate it too much” and he was like “No, I actually think I’ll really like it.” So HA Twilight DOES appeal to both males AND ppl who haven’t read the books!! I’m telling you, Twilight is gonna outperform EVERYONE’s expectations, I mean, I can go ANYWHERE and meet ppl who are gonna see the movie, whether they’ve read the books or not, and I’m only just now starting to realize that. Also though, if you read the CinemaBlend article, the guy is still completely doubtful- we have GOT to prove him wrong!!! Do NOT go see the movie only on opening weekend, see it over and over and over again- and drag others too! if they give it a chance they’ll probably enjoy it as well, so feel free to use force if necessary to get ppl to see the movie- LONG after it comes out! It has become my personal mission to prove all of the skeptics wrong, and it would REALLY suck if I’m proven wrong instead, so PLEASE twilighters, do NOT let that happen!! Whew deep breath. Thank you, I arrest my case :)

    I haven’t even bought my tickets and I’m watching it three times with a group of 6 people each time so maybe we can’t count out the 100 million dollars !!!

    ALOT OF PEOPLE ARE WAITING TILL IT OPENS THAT DAY !!! SO LET’S PRAY THAT WE MAKE THAT MUCH !!!!

  • Holly

    I got my tickets from Fandango the other day – didn’t want to risk them selling out! I also wanted the Bella’s lullaby remix for my ipod. If the movie does hit $150 million I think New Moon will get made no problem. Is that number worldwide or just the US? hmmm, I know that from the chat rooms the UK is excited too..world wide numbers could be big!

  • Beth

    I got my itckets on October 23rd- tickets went on sale @ 10 am and most of the theaters were completely sold out by 12:30. I am so excited to see this movie-

  • janet

    my friends and i bought our tickets last week. we are so excited. my 5 year old son wants to see it so if its child worthy i will be taking him also. Im so excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • LoveVeggieVamps

    I went on Halloween to the actual theater to buy my tickets. There was a girl in front of me and all I heard from the theater employee was “so you want 10 tickets to the midnight showing?” and the girl said “yes”. I leaned forward and said “are you getting tickets for Twilight?” and she spun around with a huge smile on her face and said “YES!!” I bought 10 tickets to the midnight showing myself. A bunch of my co-workers are going and we’re making an entire night of it! The youngest of us is 21 and the rest are late 20′s and early 30′s and one in their 40′s. This movie is going to do amazing!!

  • JanetH

    I fall into the over 50 category and I have bought my midnight release ticket! I wouldn’t miss it. I think we’ve got a chance since the clips are so dynamic and even people who have been living in a cave and don’t know Edward and Bella will be curious about the movie- just from those clips. Catherine has done a great job with this story. The marketing dept is keeping Robert in the news and on magazine covers. This WILL work people. It must. We need those other movies! !!

  • Midori
