TWILIGHT MOVIE SALES ON FANDANGO ARE HUGE…AND STILL GROWING
If you noticed our earlier Twilight Odds and Ends entry, you saw that we posted an article about how sales for the Twilight movie comprise 43% of sales on Fandango.com. Awesome, right? Well, another new article was just posted stating that sales are now at 51%!
Here are a few details and interesting statistics provided by MarketWatch.com:
“Twilight” doesn’t open for another three weeks (on November 21), but fans are already scooping up advance tickets for the film at http://www.fandango.com/twilighttickets.In a recent survey, “Twilight” was voted by Fandango moviegoers as the most anticipated film of the season.* As of 12:00 noon PT today, the film accounted for 51% of all daily ticket sales on Fandango, the nation’s leading moviegoer destination.
As a bonus available to every “Twilight” ticket buyer, Fandango users will receive a free music download of the exclusive track, “Bella’s Lullaby (Remix).” Details of the promotion are available at http://www.fandango.com/twilight.
“Twilight” showtimes are expected to sell out quickly. According to a current Fandango survey of more than 5,000 moviegoers, excitement is running high:
— 92% of respondents say they’ll see “Twilight” on opening weekend;
— 85% say they plan to see the film more than once;
— 56% are planning to see the movie with a group of friends;
— 97% have read the novel by Stephenie Meyer;
— 86% would be interested in visiting the locations where the movie was
filmed;
— 95% of the respondents to the survey are female;
— 42% of respondents are 25 or older; 58% are younger than 25.

Wow! Those statistics are crazy. I know I’ve contributed to that 51% of sales because I bought one our two (or three, or four..) tickets already, so I’m not surprised the number keeps growing. And I love the age range of the responders to the Fandango survey. Maybe that will prove some people wrong. *wink wink*

I live in Utah and tickets went on sale over a week ago. We counted 10 places who between them all are showing the movie in over 70 theatres-and that is just the midnight showing on the 20th. They are literally showing it in EVERY single place-with the places having between 8-20 theatres each. That’s just the Megaplex-that doesn’t include Cinemark and all the other ones. Last time I checked they were pretty much sold out and adding more show times-some of them being 2:30 am. Yeah-I think the movie will do well.
The theater that I want to go to doesn’t sell tickets with fandango or movietickets.com. It’s a goodrich theater and I’m hoping they will start to sell tickets on the site soon! I also tried to get out of work opening day but two of my co-workers already asked off so they can wait in line for tickets. So at least I’ll have people to go with. (i’m also one of the over 25 year olds!) I hope it does insanely well!
OME!!! i just got my tickets!! AHHHHHHH im soooooo freaking excited!!! i was getting a little worried for a second though…i have been checking like everyday to see if my theater was selling them in advance and nothing was coming up!! and then just 2 sec ago i went on fandango and BAM there it was!! ahhhhh it was a beautiful sight!! so thanks again TA for given us twilighters/twihards the best twilight information/news out there!! you guys are the best!! :0)
I’m dieing to say the $$ statistics from Fandango and Movie Tickets to see how many people have them and how much many they’re already making.
i live in orlando and as soon as they went on sale, i bought mine and my friends ticket for the midnight show on thursday night/saturday morning. I am so excited to finally have my tickets and cant wait to see it.
I just got my tickets on movietickets.com and got the free download of “Bella’s lullaby remix” I won’t listen to it or the regular version until after I see the movie, but I am SO freaking excited!!!! I have NEVER been this excited about a movie before in my life!!! I can’t wait!!!
I love twilight so so much!AHHHH. I already bought my tickets and im going to get there hours before the movie starts go get a good seat.YAY! I finished every book within 2 days!TEAM EDWARD!
I definitely will be seeing it more than once! I’m going with this group of like 20 or 30 people. It’s gonna be insane. I’m kinda ticked though because I bought my ticket before they started that iTunes promotion.
