TWILIGHT MOVIE WEEKEND BOX OFFICE REPORT
EW.COM Weekend box office report:
Twilight (No. 2) was next in the five-day rankings, with $39.5 mil, although its three-day weekend total was a more disappointing $26.4 mil, a steep 62 percent drop from its huge debut a week ago. Still, the Stephenie Meyer saga continues to draw in teen girls, and it crossed the $100 mil mark in just eight days (its domestic haul is $119.7 mil), so there’s still plenty of good news there.
According to Box Office Mojo:
Domestic: $119,688,000 92.4%
Foreign: $9,836,346 7.6%
= Worldwide: $129,524,346
(thanks hugz)
Umm wow. In roughly 10 days, Twilight is already close to the $150 million Summit needed to make New Moon. I’m thinking it will far surpass the $150 million when it’s all said and done. Twilight hasn’t come out yet in many countries and just wait until the DVD with extra scenes is available. What do you think of Twilight storming the box office? Did you expect this? What are you projections for what Twilight will make?

WOW! yea I’m dubbed that it wasn’t Number 1 again, but it still made A LOT of money. I’m SO happy. I just hope that ALL of that money gets put towards New Moon because with that big of a budget it’ll definitely be amazing!
26.4 mil? What? I saw it twice this weekend! lol.
I know it’s gonna do well. I know.
I was alittle surprised that it was knocked off the top spot, already, considering how many people have seen it mutliple times…but, congrats on t doing so well…and I contributed 3 times, so far!
Okay, why does this article sound a little negative for a movie that’s made $129 million worldwide in 10 days? It “only” made 26 million this weekend?
I dont care. We have NOTHING to worry about. The European release is coming right up and Australian I believe correct? Fear not my little twi-hards! The thanksgiving weekend is difficult to see movies, especially if your like me, a Mum with a GINORMUS family that never leaves!!! I’m going back.
I’m surprised it had a 62% drop between the first and second week, at these numbers that’s a lot, but I’m glad it’s crossed the 100 mill mark in just a week. I hope the Sunday tally puts it back to second though and Bolt in third.
I’ve been waiting for these numbers to come out. I too went twice so far. Numbers will always dwindle but they are still strong!! There is no doubt once the DVD hits the market numbers will soar yet again. New Moon is for sure, I agree with Kelsey that it’s going to continue to do well. Thanks for the article.
Well I’m not surprised it got knocked off the #1 spot. Not many people will spend so much money to see it again. But I can say it will definitely reach it’s quota by the end of the year.
4 time contributer here lol and my mom wants to go again (her second vewing and non reader of the sage btw) lol
Whaaat? Oh, come on! I’ve seen it eleven times so far. I’m really surprised the numbers have dropped as much as they have.
Wow, Alexandria, I feel unworthy now-I saw it for the 3rd time today.
I am a little disappointed it wasn’t #1 again-so many of us here and other sites, said they were going to go 3-4 times-maybe they just didn’t mean this weekend. Anyway, it is fantastic that the movie crossed the 100 million mark in only 8 days! I suck (pun intended) at making predictions. No one knows how this will play oversees. I’m gonna say with oversees combined, 240 million.
i’m so happy that twilight has and still is doing sooooo well!!
go twilight!
I am amazed and yet not totally surprised by how well this movie is doing. I love the cast, but some of the scenes looked (and I know it was in a sense) low budget. I still LOVED the movie and I went to a midnight showing as soon as it came out…then I read the next 3 books within a week. I’m on Team Edward for sure. Will they combine book 3 and 4? I can’t imagine how they will do it. They would have to cut out so much.
One scene I missed form the movie was when Bella gets sick from the blood in her science class. I was also hoping to see more about Carlisle’s paintings in his office. Doesn’t that set up some information for the second movie?
I’m sure it will do well abroad as well. I live in Finland where Twilight opens in January 2nd and me and many of my friends are dying to see it.
This weekend was not so great, because industry insiders predicted that it would make 30 million. The problem with “front-loaded” movies is that the people and the press forget about them after the first weekend, and it makes them look like they are just a teenage-driven trend.
I went five times so far. I know I’m going again next weekend. New Moon is being made, and Twilight will far exceed it’s $150 million when it’s done, possibly even just domestically. It’s a huge success and great for the fandom.
Wow I am extremely shocked and dissapointed by the small array of international fans,I mean like only less than $10,000,000 at the box office?!!!I always was under the impression that Stephenie Meyer and Twilight had a very strong following around the world, like all those international fan sites loaded with millions of people and all. Were is the love everyone? But well I can tell you this:those across the other side of the pond are sure missing out on a lot of goodnes because Twilight is the most awesome movie ever!!!Oh and yes I think Twilight will end up making more than $150,000,000 at the box office,I think it an go as far as a $200,000,000,I mean it’s only been ten days at the cinemas right?Well let’s just hope it keeps on making more money.
