TWILIGHT MUSIC MONTH: BELLA ROCKS! (DAY ONE)

Posted March 23rd, 2009 By: Team Switzerland 8 Comments »

I can’t believe how quickly it’s gone by, but it’s already the fourth week in our Twilight Music Month! Today, we’re happy to introduce you to our fourth and final band, Bella Rocks! In addition to reading a bit about the band, we also have details on our new contest, sponsored by Bella Rocks!

From the age of 2, Katie Parr (solo member of Bella Rocks!) has been no stranger to performing on stage. With church musicals, a variety of school and community theatre productions, and special music groups, Katie found her passion for music, acting, and the creative arts. When she got her first guitar at 14 years old (a sad-looking, 30-year-old, 4-stringed guitar), she immediately started writing songs about typical teen circumstances. Little did she know that her hobby would turn into something more.

After seeing her first wizard rock concert in 2007, Katie persuaded her younger sister to join her in creating a wizard rock project called Chasing Quaffles. Katie has performed along side other well-known “wrockers”, including The Moaning Myrtles, The Parselmouths, and The Butterbeer Experience.

It wasn’t until April 2008 when Katie discovered the vampire world of Stephenie Meyer. After reading the first chapter, she knew the story was pleading to be sung about. Her first Bella Rocks! song, “Immortal Beloved” was met with amazing response, which led her to continue penning songs based on the series. Katie’s first Bella Rocks! album, “Diary of a Forks Girl” was released at the end of the summer 2008. Currently, Katie is working on her second album, “Nostalgia”, which is due for a Spring/Summer ’09 release, and organizing a small summer tour.

When not writing songs for Bella Rocks!, Katie actively participates in the YouTube Twilight community on the Team Twilighter channel.

Katie is a Media Studies student at Northern Illinois University and plans on using her writing and creative skills in the future to one day work for Disney Channel. She currently resides right outside of Chicago, hometown of Edward Cullen.

And, as promised, we’ve got another great contest for you today! This one, of course, is sponsored by Bella Rocks! Inspired by the new Bella Rocks! CD, “Diary of a Forks Girl”, we’re putting you to the challenge of writing your own diary entry from the point of view of any character in the Twilight saga. You could win a signed CD, Bella Rocks! t-shirt, or a Twilight bookmark! For more details on this brand new contest, click here.
