TWILIGHT MUSIC MONTH: MIDNIGHT SUN (DAY ONE)
Sure, ‘Midnight Sun’ is best known for being Stephenie Meyer’s unpublished manuscript of ‘Twilight’ from Edward’s point of view, BUT, did you know it’s also the name of a Twilight-inspired artist? That’s right, Twilighters, for day one of our Twilight Music Month, we are happy to introduce you to the Twilight-y goodness that is Midnight Sun. In addition to a little introduction to the artist, we’ve also got an amazing new contest to introduce to you, courtesy of Midnight Sun:

Catching on to the Twilight Saga in August 2008 Sam Cushion got immediately hooked. “After hearing some friends say it was pretty good I decided to read the first book. After 20 pages I was hooked and read the entire series in a week.” After reading the books a sudden burst of inspiration hit Sam to write a song based on Bella and Edward. Here we have “Bella” the first track off Midnight Sun’s debut album “Forever & Eternity”. Though that wasn’t the plan from the beginning. “It started off as just a fun thing to do one Saturday afternoon in September. I thought it would be really cool to write a song about Bella and Edward’s relationship and one song turned into two songs and so on and so on. Before you knew it I had a myspace page, hundreds of fans, and had sold over 1,000 copies of the single “Too Much For A Clean Cut”. It all happened so fast I am still trying to catch up.”After releasing “Forever & Eternity” in November, side by side with the release of the Twilight movie, and playing a “sold out show” in a local bookstore in his hometown of Aledo, TX, Midnight Sun has started digging deeper in the Twilight scene. “After playing at Larks Bookstore it really hit me hard how much people like this. Not just the books but they actually like my music. I have been writing for years but never put out a cd or put anything on iTunes so it was a huge shock. I sold out every CD, T-shirt, poster, everything I had at Larks for the show we sold. I think they have a 150 person capacity and we easily had 200-250 people in there, could have been more.”
Now, with “A Birthday Gift” out in stores, things just keep getting better for Midnight Sun. “A Birthday Gift” is Sam’s interpretation of the mixtape Edward gave Bella for her birthday in New Moon. It consists of 6 piano/string pieces that Sam composed and a cover of “Claire De Lune”. It is available on Amazon.com and Lala.com right now and coming soon to iTunes.
“I think I just got really lucky when I started this that I got in at the perfect time. I made lots of friends really quick because everyone in this community is just so cool. Its so easy to make friends. I put out a cd and started twirock.com and I have had so much fun with it all. People in the Twilight Community as I like to call it are some of the best people I have met and I have learned so much from all this its just incredible. Katie from Bella Rocks!, Erin and Fred from The Twilighters, The Bella Cullen Project, just to name a few. These guys really helped me get into the scene and I will always be thankful to them.”
Sam will release a new 5 song free download ep coming out March 6th. It’s his way of “paying back” everyone for their support for Midnight Sun. It will only be available for a limited time for free, so get it while you can!
