Twilight Outtake: ‘Badminton’:

The girl on the other team sneered maliciously as she served the birdie – I must have injured her during the basketball section – lobbing it just a few feet past the net, directly toward me. I sprung gracelessly forward, aiming my swing in the direction of the little rubber pest, but I forgot to take the net into account. My racquet bounced from the net with surprising strength, popping out of my hand, and glancing off my forehead before whacking Mike in the shoulder to get the birdie I had completely missed.

After reading chapter eleven, and MS, I see almost nothing that was actually cut.

I don’t think any more focus on Bella’s clumsiness was necessary. I thought it surfaced frequently all through the books until she changed.

Knowing his thoughts from MS, it is difficult to separate that from this outtake. I thought it funny Edward considered manufacturing an excuse to get her out of class if she continued to “try to play.” What a slam! He knew she was a klutz. He loved her anyway.

LOL Oh, Bella. I’m the same way with volleyball. Badminton doesn’t bother me, but I cringe every time a volleyball flies over the net in my direction. Or softball *shudder*. Don’t ever hand me a baseball bat. It’s for your own safety, I promise.

The Badminton outtake was funny, but to me it did not matter that it was taken out.
Bella’s clumsiness is explained enough through the books, so.

in a way i kinda wish it was so then when Edward asks her how her head it, you would know what he meant.

Concur. Bella’s clumsiness is reiterated throughout the stories. I had wondered how the racket wound up hitting both her and Mike. I think the only other thing that was not brought up often was how much Bella was disliked from other girls. We all know Jessica and Lauren did not like her but other girls in the school did not also. I guess the next question is, Was Bella not liked because she was dangerous to herself and others on the court? Because she was new to the town and had immediate popularity? OR because the “hottest guy” in the school took a liking to her? Bella wouldn’t have thought up two of those questions herself….

it totally should have been in twilight. i couldn’t understand how bella hit both herself and mike at the same time.
i think they should have said more of bella’s clumziness
well actually i do know because i read the bit on S.M.’s website. that was so funny.
