IT’S TWILIGHT WEEK ON “THE INSIDER”
This week has been deemed “Twilight Week” by the show “The Insider”. They are giving us some exclusive Twilight treats this week, and today they’ve brought us an on-set video video with Robert Pattinson and Catherine Hardwicke. Also in the video, they talk about how the movie is poised to make more than $50 million on opening weekend.

Wow! $50 million on opening weekend? That is a pretty impressive number. Not to mention, that contradicts a lot of predictions that pessimists are making.
Do you think Twilight’s box office figures will be higher or lower than what they predicted? Do you have a prediction for what Twilight will make on opening weekend?

I think $50 may actually be conservative…maybe I’m too optimistic, I don’t know. I know I’ll be a repeat offender.

I must say I’ve already pre-purchased tickets for like 3 different days.
I think it will make around 40mil its opening weekend. I have no doubt it will have an amazing first weekend return, since all of us book fans will run out to see it. However, whether it will be a blockbuster hit will really depend on the weeks after that and whether or not the film can reel in the nonreading audience like what happened for harry potter. I think reaching a broader demographic from just the book fans is going to be the real challenge.
Since the budget was so modest, though I think it could easily make back its production budget in that first weekend. I don’t think it will reach the 250-300million that hp always gets, but I do think it has a shot at passing the 100million mark ultimately.
I think over $50 million hits the mark. I hope I get surprised with even more.
