TWILIGHTERSANONYMOUS.COM NEW POLL
We have a new poll (thanks to Vamp):
Catherine is not directing New Moon. Your thoughts…
-Good, because the movie sucked and could have been directed better
-I wish she was directing because the movie turned out great
-That’s stupid since Stephenie choose her vision
-Meh - Doesn’t really matter

I don’t know how I feel about it yet. I’m reserving judgment - cause the next director could be much much worse. To vote - the poll is on the right side of every page below the navigation.

I kind of wish she was directing, because I really liked the movie. But I don’t know, the next director could be much worse as you said. So we’ll see.
I don’t know what to say? The movie had a 37m budget. The cast and crew did a fine job with what they were given to work with. Maybe the script could have been better.
When Catherine speaks about directing Twilight she exudes excitement and electricity. She seems so genuinely interested in the whole Twilight saga and more importantly is a fan herself. The cast spoke so highly of her and Stephenie approved of her creativity. She sees the whole picture (the 4 books) not just Twilight.
Well, I hope they find someone with her vision and focus. It makes me sad for Catherine, I wish her well. It also makes me sad for Stephenie. I hope she can work well with the new diretor and make an accurate and sound rendition of New Moon.
i’m so happy she is not directing the second movie. it could have been so much better. i think she is not a very talented director, and i hope the next one will improve the movie quality…
i loved the book, but i think the movie was kind of awful…
I might be the lone wolf on this but I’m happy that someone else is directing. I ofcourse understand the issues and limitations that Catherine must have had with the budget and weather not cooperating, etc.. BUT, with all things considered (well, atleast those that fans know of), I still think that it could have been done better even with the limited resources. The movie is not bad, but, I don’t think bringing in a new director can hurt and to make it worse would require a truly amateur director to come in. Especially with the books’ popularity and clear solid fanbase, a lot has to go wrong for the New Moon to be even worse. Just my humble opinion. What I am dreading is the ‘what if the next director makes New Moon amazingly better’.. then I would feel bad cause then Catherine’s talent may then be questioned.. and she certainly don’t deserve that.
I’m sad to see her go! She was really dedicated and it seems she put her heart in it… but we’ll see.. just like HP the directors changed for the better as the movie went along!
I wish she was directing because the movie turned out great.
Hardwicke did an absolutely amazing job with Twilight. I am very disappointed that Summit is choosing to go another direction with another director. I hope they will not choose a male director because they would not have the finesse that a female could add to it. I have watched the movie 5 times. I will watch New Moon at least once. But will it be able to bring me back to the theater 5 times, is another question.
Good! The movie sucked!
Sorry, but most of the issues with Twilight lie with Hardwicke AND Rosenberg…and If people read the books, then they know that this series also grows with the characters….even though they are supposed to be 17, Bella is mature for her age and Edward is really over 100 and the issues that develop between them are more mature ones than teenage angst…so Hardwicke’s “keeping the finger on the pulse of teens” may be the downfall of the rest of the movies if she were to have stayed on - we WANT more maturity….There are a HUGE amount of the fan base that are older than teens (early 20s-mid 30s…and older!) This is one issue that they seem to be forgetting much of the time.
Honestly, I am very upset with Summit right now. I feel that Catherine Hardwicke, being a fan herself, worked hard to keep the movie true to the book and did a wonderful job of it. Twilight wasn’t perfect, true, but I think that with that experience behind her, more time, and a bigger budget, she could do wonders with New Moon. She has experience with angst, which is a necessary component of New Moon in particular, and I was really looking forward to seeing what she would do with it. Also, writing off the beautiful cinematography as the work of the director of photography is nonsense, in my opinion. I recognized the stunning cinematography from another of her movies. Also, I really think they shouldn’t rush the next movie, as I’m afraid they’re going to, and if Hardwicke was in favor of putting more time into it, as she seems to have been, then I am all the more concerned about her dismissal.
If there’s no chance of getting Hardwicke back (if there’s a petition out there somewhere, let me at it), then Summit had better find someone good. T_T
im kinda glad shes not directing the next movie…she didnt do a bad job at any means, but i know it could have been a lot better than what it was. the thing i didnt like was that the people who saw it and didnt read the books didnt understand it…it was like, you had to read the book to fill in the missing pieces…i think that she should have went around to twilight fans, asked them their favorite parts of the book, took the majority, and focused on those parts to make the movie great…but what do i know? im not a director lol…im curious to see how the werewolves turn out though
People are idiots, really. They think that just because Twilight was missing a lot of important needed info from the book, that the director is to blame. Here, let m teach you a little something about film. The Director, DIRECTOR, makes what the WRITER writes. So blame Melissa Rosenberg. What she wrote for the cast to portray, the director directed them to do so. If Melissa didn’t put the info into the script, then the Director couldn’t direct it if it doesn’t exist. Not compared to the book, the movie was epic.
instead of worrying about getting new moon out asap… they should wait until catherine is available.
don’t get me wrong, i would love to be able to see the movie come out before 2010… but let’s get serious.
they really shouldn’t change the director.
it’s too late now…
summit should get rid of melissa rosenberg and wait for catherine
im so glad that Catherine Hardwicke isn’t directing New Moon.
she did a terrible job of Twilight
i could have done a better job with my friends as actors, a $500 budget and my new camcorder
serious, it was absolute crap!
it could have been better with an extra half hour of movie time and following the storyline where it matters most.
i sure hope the next director is better or someone will be getting hate mail
It’s hard for people not in the business to judge because how do we really know who’s to blame for the few bad special effects and that embarrassing moment in the hospital where Bella sputters and stammers? Those things are really my only gripes about the movie - as well as the weird looks and lighting on Edward’s face as he’s driving away from the drunks. Ultimately the blame probably goes to the director, so I guess someone else may do a better job. Hardwicke certainly did a fantastic job with that kissing scene! The next director really needs to show more of that chemistry. I hope the director and screen writer do a better job in the next movies showing why Edward and Bella would be so willing to give up their lives for each other.
Well the movie isnt out in the uk yet but from what Ive seen in previews and from what Ive read in reviews Im not getting my hopes up so, good. I would love to see a director who wants to stick to the book as much as possible because at the end of the day its the fans who are making their money and its the fans who are driving this whole francise, surely they should be the top priority not what makes a good artsy film.
I actually really enjoyed Twilight as is. I’m worried about her replacement. I hope he or she does as well with New Moon…
uhh…this is hard i think catherine did a good jobn in the movie and was a good director but could have done much better i expected more from her since she is very visionary but some many things in the movie were added and changed sometimes for the better sometimes for the worse it really to me depends on who the new director will be.
Good, because the movie sucked and could have been directed better
