Stephenie Meyer said in one of her interviews that the foundation of true love was about choosing who you are going to commit to, and not a lack of other options. For me, when it comes to true love, there simply are no other options. Bella and Edward were meant for each other, two halves of the same whole. Edward is willing to give up everything for Bella, everything to make her happy. Even if that happiness would mean leaving her. He loves her with a love he thought he had lost or wasn’t even capable of. That makes it such a miracle for him. Bella changed not only his whole life, but his very being, his very soul. She made him believe again, gave him a reason for living. There is nothing on this earth that could change the way Edward feels about Bella, nothing she could do or say. Nothing. That’s why I’m Team Edward. Because he loves Bella more than anything in the world, more than his own life. She is everything he had never dared to hope for.

Although Edward Cullen is the epitome of the perfect boyfriend, Jacob Black brings much needed honesty and humanity into Bella Swan’s life. Although his chromosomal count proves otherwise, Jacob Black experiences the most emotion and is perhaps the most human of all the characters in Twilight, which I believe makes him all the more loveable as a character.A recurring theme in most books nowadays is a perfect, almost inhuman character. These characters face few struggles in their perfect lives and even if they do, they mask their troubles with perfected expressions of stoicism, and have a strange way of being able to keep it together even in times of utter chaos, always ending up with the object of their desires in the end or winning the prize. Edward is a slightly altered, but altogether good example of this annoying character. Jacob however is anything but. He is passionate and although he tries to hide his pain behind a mask of toughness his true vulnerability always comes through in the end. His lack of giving up in the pursuit of Bella’s heart, his never giving up until it was too late, those are what make him the true hero of Twilight.

I am Team Switzerland. I think both Jacob and Edward play a significant role in Bella’s life. They both contribute to Bella’s personality. They both give us a different side of Bella.Jacob was there for her when she needed someone. He brought her back to life. He also brought out the the risky, careless, young side of Bella. Jacob gave her a place to rest her mangled mind and heart. He was her escape from reality.
Edward is Bella’s everything. She finds her place in the world with Edward. He brings out the more sensible mature side of Bella. He gives her unconditionally selfless love, and lets her know her worth. Which I believe she needed.
Her insecurities are also why Edward and Jacob balance her out so well. Edward loves her insecurities, mainly because he finds them amusing. He lets her know how amazing she is to him in any and every way possible. And to Jacob, Bella is “just plain old Bella”. That equals her out and keeps her from being too star struck from her new life with Edward. Without both of them we could not have the Bella we know and love.
If you notice, we actually have three winners rather than two. We had so many great entries that it was so hard to narrow down, and ended up with a third place winner. So, congratulations to all three – you will be receiving an e-mail for more details!
